  • This was the second/unofficial Anthem of the Empire of Japan during WW2 and is still played in the JSDF by events.
    And now the Lyrics:
    Miyo! Tokai no sora akete,
    Kyokujitsu takaku kagayakeba,
    Tenchi no seiki hatsuratsu to
    Kibo wa odoru Oyamashima.
    O, seiro no asagumo ni
    Sobiyuru Fuji no sugata koso
    Kin'omuketsu yuruginaki
    Waga Nippon no hokori nare.
    2.
    Tate! Ikkei no okimi wo
    Hikari to towa ni itadakite,
    Shinmin warera mina tomoni
    Miitsu ni sowan daishimei.
Yuke, hakko wo ie to nashi,
    Shikai no hito wo michibikite,
    Tadashiki heiwa uchitaten.
Riso wa hana to saki kaoru.
    3.
Ima ikutabi ka waga ue ni,
    Shiren no arashi takeru tomo,
    Danko to mamore sono seigi.
    Susuman michi wa hitotsu nomi.
    A, yuen no kamiyo yori,
    Todoroku hocho uketsugite,
    Daikoshin no yuku kanata
    Kokoku towani sakae are!

Umi yukaba was never meant to be an anthem, its a patriotic song. Its a typical western myth.

    • @itsuki6883
      @itsuki6883 Před 2 lety +8

@@kamikazefilmproductions it’s actually not a western myth but more of a western misunderstanding. during ww ii the government mandates umi yukaba as the “song of the people” or “国民の歌”, and was meant to be sung in ceremonies and gatherings. hence, it was considered the “secondary anthem” or a “準国家”. along with aikoku koushinkyoku other songs like tekiwa ikuman and the gunkan march were considered “patriotic anthems/songs”

@@kamikazefilmproductions It's not myth and not western. That Umi Yukaba is Japan's 2nd anthem were the words of PM Konoe Fumimaro in his speech before Diet in 1940. People stood up and soldiers stood at attention to Umi Yukaba just the same way as to Kimi ga yo and umi Yukaba was played at important events as an anthem either in addition or in place of Kimi ga yo occasionally. Neither anthems were "registred" as official state anthem up until 1999. It was a tradition and both songs were recognized (if ask me, I like Umi Yukaba more).

    【English】
Look at the bright eastern sky,
    The sun rises high;
The true spirits of the sky and the earth
fill all the hearts of Oyashima.
    Beyond the clouds of dawn
    Fuji's peak rises.
    Unwavering and beautiful,
It brings pride to my Japan.
He who reigns in power and virtue
    Is our unbroken light.
All of us subjects shall follow
    And accomplish our great mission.
Carry forth the eight cords across the universe,
Guide the peoples of the four seas.
Let us build a tower of true peace
So our ideal shall bloom like a flower!
    Now we face many times
    Various storms and trials,
We must protect and defend righteousness
    In its single path.
Ah, we remember from the divine era,
The march of our ancestors that we must follow.
We shall go beyond the great march,
So our empire will always be glorious!
