    One of the best riders to watch with how he manages to win by playing the tactical games of seeing which breakaways win and more importantly which ones aren't so you know when to conserve your power.

      Indeed he has the engine en skills but for me is one of those cyclist who has a understanding of how cycling works and the right timing. He is a attractive rider to watch and one of those cyclist you can never underestimate. His only lack is the pure raw power on schorter uphills( compared to de absolute elite 3 he races against)

      Ofcourse he is good in playing the tactical games but it's not just about that. He's a machine.

    Matej Mohoric is such an exciting rider to watch. His win in Milan San-Remo in 2022 almost brought tears to my eyes, as did his TDF stage win in 2023. His interview after this win was totally breathtaking stuff. He is a true champion, top 3 or 4 of my favourite pro cyclists. I love this athlete.

    F*ck, that fall in the Giro! 😮 I can’t believe he still descend so recklessly after that kind of fall. 💪

    His dropper win will always be a tech highlight and I applaud him for showing the benefits of that. And I think road droppers should be mandatory, especially now that gravel/off-road sections are en vogue. And not necessarily for speed but rather safety as it is safer to descend with a dropped saddle, especially for taller riders who are otherwise sky-high in their saddles. And thanks, Scott, for your look at Matej's career. And yikes, that crash flippage, scary stuff.

    • @hansschotterradler3772
      @hansschotterradler3772 Před 3 měsíci

      that would mean that riders would be required to engage the dropper when descending? Makes no sense. You cannot pedal with power with the dropper in low position. This is just for being more aero when coasting.

    • @robbchastain3036
      @robbchastain3036 Před 3 měsíci

      @@hansschotterradler3772 I am not advocating mandatory use at any time, just that, if droppers were installed on all pro bikes, riders could get lower and safer on big descents or over rough sections when a lower center of gravity would be preferred, if only briefly. And yes, faster, too, for skilled descenders.

      @@robbchastain3036 Yes. It's a safety feature. I support this notion. It's remarkable that Matej used the dropper in MSR 2022, considering he was the pioneer of sitting on the top tube whilst pedalling when he won a major U23race(sorry I don't know what they call that sketchy riding position, though I'm sure it has a name). It is dangerous as fuck. Yet he pulled it off and for years most people thought Chris Froome was the pioneer of the technique. Nope, sorry. It was Matej Mohoric when he still had pimples on his face.

    • @lesflynn4455
      @lesflynn4455 Před 3 měsíci +2

      He's very tactically astute, and picks his battles better than 95% of the pro peleton. He's undoubtedly quite intelligent. It takes brains to do that. When he pulls off one of his escapes on a dangerous descent it's always awesome. In 2022 at Milan San-Remo I jumped out of my armchair and started shouting with my fist in the air when Mohoric made that move. He does it better than just about anyone. It makes him one of the most exciting riders in the pro peleton, and I'll support him for the rest of his career. He's a top shelf rider in my opinion.

    When you factor in the crashed bikes, broken bones, ended seasons, and deaths the data shows that the 19lb steel bike fit properly is far faster than 15lb ill-fitted carbon
