I know this will be controversial but in his fights against Buakaw (two I think), he didn't look so "legendary." One I scored a draw the other, was a win for Buakaw.
I am hyped for the Sanda fighter video!
combining the best of different forms and be formless in the process...a true bruce lee disciple!
@@m6smitten wel see all the fights off buakaw. He could not do the same things with petrosyan, he was very strong, did not trow easaly/or not on the ground. The first match I was amazed that he get to the end very strong and thectical, great reaction, and he was at the bigginning of his carear.
BUT 1st match was a WIN for baukaw not draw. I also think he is a lagend, yeah .
John Wayne Parr signed with ONE FC. He wants to fight Petrosyan... at 44 years of age?!
Petrosyan used to come to my gym in Trieste to fight our pros or they went to his gym in Gorizia, when he was still living these. My pals were quite tough guys, hard hitters most of them. They all said that Petrosyan is from another level and specially how hard he hits. I remember a guy saying, that he knew that Petrosyan was going 50%, but it still hurt everywhere he hit, cause he had the perfect technique between relaxing and harden the muscles while hitting you..
Basically, a cat. In explosiveness and power, in speed and reflexes…
Wow that’s a dope story!! It’s always a pleasure when pros come to your gym!
Petrosyan is arguably the GOAT Kickboxer alongside Benny Urquidez and Peter Cunningham
Giorgio maestro indiscusso

Never seen anyone who is that good with the basics ever, it's close to perfection
very very perfect
There are a lot of kickboxers who are good with basics. Ozcan, bulaid, buakauw, holzken, aerts, hoost, benchamek, sitsongpeenong. Even overeem was ultra technical. So even though petrosyan is a legend, he was not an anomaly. There are so many super technical and precise fighters wo use nothing more than the fundamentals. Not just petrosyan.
@ChuggingtheBlackChlorine There are a lot of variables when it comes to records. And this wasn’t about who’s the pound for pound best. This was about the level of technique and basic fundamentals. I think tayfun uzcan is the most technical kickboxer at the moment. This is no knock to petrosyan. But whenever someone gets a nickname, the nickname starts to live a life of his own. If uzcans nickname was “the surgeon” or “the architect” i’m sure he would be mentioned as the most technical boxer at the moment. So AGAIN, i’m a fan of patrosyan too. But there are several technical kickboxers. Again, watch overeems k-1 run. When he won the title, he was as technical and precise as a surgeon. Respect to petrosyan tho
@@cristobalbalenciaga7295 but those fighters do NOT have the same success at the elite level as the Thai Assassin Petrosyan
@@cristobalbalenciaga7295 theres ONLY one variable to consider and thats success at the elite level anybody can be technically brilliant against a Home Depot worker but do it against the elite and that what seperates you now Petrosyans record against the elite speaks for itself and Ozcans record does NOT match up all i saying is you can not be technically better than Petrosyan with 8 losses and being KOd 4x in the process just saying......
Orgoglio Armeno e Italiano. Persona di rara umiltà e cortesia. Incontrato in un ristorante anni fa, davvero un bravo ragazzo !
He's like an AI in the highest difficulty. Great video, as always!
True that! thanks for watching!
I remember how Japanese magazines called him the eye of God, the chess player of the ring, and was even compared to a computer, despite the fact that he won the top fighters in Japan.
🌟
The Doctor is the perfect name, he's amazing to watch.
absolutely
He got given that nickname because of his surgical precision leg kicks... or so I’m told!
@@davydtaylor4151 not just leg kicks... but surgical precision with all weapons!!
@@LaosSkater it actually stemmed from his leg kicks. Yes I agree he has precision everywhere, but his nickname originated from him finishing an opponent by a series of precision leg kicks. It was the ref that gave him the name. So it was because of leg kicks bud.
@@davydtaylor4151 thats amazing man his leg kicks are brutal!!! But i think that name is more formed around his style and how hes on point with every tool, punches, knees, elbows, kicks, hes on point with all those with such solid formal technique its amazing how hes that sharp, can be a counter fighter, can be a knockout puncher, can show dominate foot work, amazing eyes dont forget ! thats why hes surgical like a doctor careful but precise and sharp
His basics and fundamentals are sooo good , makes people confused to understand what are the basics.he doesnt talk much...yet a legend in fight sports.thanks lawrence kenshin
Petro's has eye's like no other. He's Patient. He can move on any angle... I don't think I've ever seen him caught on the wrong side of a trade where he should have been circling the other direction, or his opponent landed before he did. It's so admirable as you stated, Petro doesn't waste anything. Including defensive head & body movement/maneuvers. He pivots within millimeters of his opponents attempts and uses backward momentum to fuel striking & counter attacks in lieu of interrupting combinations. Never over evading shows his measurement and fortitude. Not afraid, confident, great sportsmanship! Excellent measurement, of the man w/ perfect measuring lol 🥼🙏🏽
(the best were digging up some of his highest profile Muay Thai fights, then really understanding he's not just spitting out a B role when he states in his pre fight documentaries he wanted to combine the best of western (overall) boxing/ with the lethality of Muay Thai. I'd say he's done it... And now in ONE Championship, he's only hitting harder and absolutely shredded beyond belief... )
He makes it so easy it's crazy
legendary technician
200 IQ
I always thought surgeon was a more appropriate nickname for him. Absolute precise perfection goodness.
Agreed
Maybe it's a Valentino Rossi reference?
I remember trying to find a lefty to emulate and I liked Saenchai, Petch and Somrak but I absolutely fell in love with Petrosyan‘s style!
Im not a lefty, but i fight southpaw and this guy is dream fuel for me and nightmare fuel for my sparring partners
Somrak is a lefty?
@@MISTERPERFECT3806 no but he has that jockey gym style I’ve grown to love
Aggressive Indian kids MMA fights czcams.com/video/NQYPtKcnIsw/video.html
Petchpanomrung is my favorite lefty to emulate sittichai as well
Petrosyan is my favourite fighter and when I started kickboxing I would watch his fights and try to take his skills in to my sparring!
I also, never knew Lawrence Kenshin had an English accent.
That one two combination from him is precision. I’ve never seen anyone throws as perfect as him.
Giogio fought José Reis in 2007, a very technical and experienced kickboxer and a friend of mine. Since that day I knew he would become a legend!
I watched the match. Your friend can be proud of having fought against one of the greatest martial artists ever.
His in-ring poise was second to none and he had a surgeon’s precision. He was an upstart beating up the legends when i first started kickboxing, and i hated him for it lol. Man i feel old, but thanks for sharing
And most importantly, he still the champ....
Such a brilliant fighter. Bruce Lee once said "Simplicity is the key to brilliance." Petrosyan is the epitome of this. Simple, direct, precise...powerful !
Im here after his fight with Superbon.
cheers
God Bless You For Sharing This Real Living Legend Story
thank you
Diamond😤 we are very proud for zambidis in my country❤️🇬🇷. Thanks for the reference 😊
Of course he's still dominating to this day !!!!!
Our bodies may age ,but the Fundamentals never will !
The last 3 videos about these incredible legends is what brought me to your channel. Thanks for sharing stuff like this🙌🏼
More to come! Thank you for watching!
Oh man, this brings me back to the days I would stay up till around 2 am in the night @ 15 years of age, watching the K-1 Max fights. What a time that was! Even though Giorgio beat so many of my fellow dutch fighters, I loved his style and secretly rooted for the guy. By far the best kickboxing has ever seen!
I had started kickboxing 15 years ago. Loving these legends the years produced
This and the Danny Bill video are utter gold.
No other channel could break him down so beautifully 🙏🏽💯
this legend is low key, he deserve more recognition!!
Absolutely the GOAT. Thanks for the video 🙏
The Best That i have Never Seen Before
I met this guy personal,am pretty sure this guy is an absolute legend !!!
Legend
indeed he is
amazing video, my favorite living fighter! all the years I have been training, and it is so rare for me to hear of anyone else that even knows of him!..what a dam shame.
What a legendary fighter. Thanks lawrence for the amazing videos and commentary.
Such an inspiration! Amazing fighter. Calculation and tactics over emotions, legend!
You know this guy is on another level when his boxing form looks so similar to that of Vasyl Lomachenko.
The way he strikes and use his footwork to go to the side of his oponent to hit is extremely similar to Lomachenko
@@matheusestevao9870 Yes indeed. The way he uses his lead hand to not only strike, but to grapple and break his opponents guard to land extra strikes is also very similar.
I guess these eastern European/Mediteranean guys all go to the same dojo. LOL.
@@TheDocbach the way he guides the oponents to the place he wants when clinch or close distance is very likely what lomachenko does too, the similarities are remarkable i think loma have a favorite kickboxing fighter LOL
Stop with your nonsense! Name one person he fought that anyone has heard of? Just one? I beg you. And what fight organisations did he fight in?
@@rcikaal8804 Not sure who you are so upset with but perhaps you should calm down. We are only comparing similar fighting styles of 2 successful fighters. We are not drawing comparisons in any kind of legacy war here.
I'm a big fan of Petrosyan. So thrilled to see this video, which makes respect for this legend. I would appreciate if you made a more technical breakdown of his techniques
I think the more strong think of Giorgio it's Is metality....Grande Giorgio 🇮🇹
Thanks for this. Amazing.
Great Hero for Great Videos! Thanks for your work. I always watch your work with interest and this video is no exception.
thanks for tuning in brotha
The glove incident with Andy Ristie was not versus Petrosyan. It happened in the RVB fight. I've never read or watched anything saying there were glove hijinks in the Petrosyan fight.
The guy loves Petrosyan and is reaching hard to give him that perfect record. Truth is he lost to Nonthanan, Buakaw, Ristie and now SB. He also lost to Pinsinchai - the draw was Italian home cooking 100%. Still a fantastic record and a fantastic fighter whom I admire greatly but please let's stop with the fanboyism and sour grapes.
the buakaw fight was a draw idk what you're talking about, he only lost 3 times and 1 or 2 times of those were even under thai ruleset I think
@@cph4
Wow super impressive, the calmness he exudes when fighting is beautiful to see. Great video as always.
He's beautiful too watch very skill fighter and one of the Greatest!!
His skills are amazing. And I got chills when you said he defeated Andy Sauer
The best of the best. Thank you for this! Everyone needs to know about Giorgio.
Very efficient and slick style with perfect basics truly beautiful to watch
Finally. The man deserved a spotlight
Another superb video Lawrence many thanks 🙏
That was so beautiful to watch
Goooo..Giorigioooooo...
Great tribute to the greatest to ever do it❤️
Always the great breakdowns thank you Lawrence 🙏🏼💙💯👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Now I understand why the experts consider Petrosyan to be the absolute goat of kickboxing. Close to perfection!
Wow, his strikes are so precise. They look clean, easy but effective.
Been waiting for this one for some time.. Thumbs up
Really love these videos with such a classical soundtrack like that.
Great video. Lots of great finishes
Very much enjoy your works brother. Another amazing human story. Enlightening.
Giorgio and buakaw gave me goose bumps
Another great video
And you sir, are the Goat of breakdowns.
Marat grigorian skills is elite too 🥊
Legendary kickboxer of all time 👑💯❤️
Thank you for this. Getting to know those legendary warriors! He is as Bruce lee said “be water”. Thank you again !
great fighter, first time i saw him i immediately noticed his excellent technique, im of italian descent and was very proud seeing an italian fighter doing wel in thai/kick boxing
i see now he was armenian first never knew that, awesome anyways
Never knew about this guy, keep up the great work Lawrence, these guys owe it to you.
Stay safe and healthy, challenging times we live in.
thank you
What a brilliant text book fighter. Its true humble never brags. 👏
Ty 4 continuing 2 do such excellent work. I've been a fan of yours since U only had about 20k subs.
Great video.
Great video!
Thx a lot, so impressive !
Its beautiful watching his style of fighting. How can anyone give this video a thumbs down. Must have been all people that he beat in the ring lol
Came to Ireland for a kickboxing seminar about 6 years ago , that was a great day of training , total gentleman too.
The one that can make great fighters becomes ordinary. His fundamentals are just flawless. Nothing flashy, but flashy at the same time.
This is the perfect fighter!
Exact, the doctor Giorgio is the real G.O.A.T. thanks for the video!
WTF, Lawrence you da man. I haven’t seen the video yet, but when I think of counter striking Petrosyan is who I think about as the top 5 across all striking disciplines. When I was fighting in Muay Thai, my coach often referred to Petrosyan when talking about the real meaning of counter striking. Not simply reacting to someone’s jab or kick etc, but to set up the scenario for the opposing fighter to fall into a counter strike trap. Awesome, gonna brew a cup of coffee and enjoy your video analysis.
Good job as always
Thank you! Cheers!
Very informative for martial art fans...respect 👍
Congratulations Giorgio your a true champion.
What a LEGEND
वाह वाह...💐👌👍अत्यन्त विलक्षण प्रतिभा अत्यन्त कुशल योद्धा
He's the GOAT, the Grandmaster, the Emperor. A living legend.
Wow many years ago I was butt hurt that Georgio beat Buakaw but after watching this video I think I like him as much as Buakaw!! His story is admirable and his skills are incredible! Thank you!
Kind of insane how he made amazing fighters look amateurish, like Andy Souwer
Beautiful
Apres Giorgio jan💪
Never heard of him. Great video
Italia and Hayastan pride 🇮🇹🇦🇲❤️
Giorgio is just mesmerising to watch, another legendary southpaw. He has the finesse and balance of a ballet dancer the vision and precision of a Maradona the patience and intricacies of a michelangelo. He's an artist in full bloom let loose on his own canvas...
Ive never heard of the guy ,but im generations older than him , he certainly looks impressive, smooth combos, no hesitancy, no tension in his frame and his aproach even when hes inside the range of his opponents
Speed and precision kills
Finally!
My heart broke when he got knocked out 💔
Supperborn the king
Great feature of Giorgio great channel mucker
You finally make a video on this guy. Nice.
He is a good doctor, at putting you in the hospital :)
Giorgio petrosysn !! Un campione! Di tecnica e umiltà! Ho avuto il piacere e la fortuna,di potermi allenare da lui a Gorizia nel 2008!
Io,oramai a fine carriera !
Grazie Giorgio !
There's also something about his build: very sinewy, muscular chest, long trapezia to support his head better (i.e., protect against KDs & KOs) and very small areolas (which translates to "genetically disinclined to storing fat"). Also, you covered his technique, but failed to mention his reflexes: he appears to see what the opponent is about to throw at him before the opponent has figured out his own next move. Essentially, a human cat.
His fight with Superbon yesterday was a truely exited, hope he willing to rematch.
This is the first time I heard Lawrence Kenshin's voice. Made even better by the fact that you broke down this fighter the way you do: flawlessly. :)
thanks for watching!
Masterpiece
And then caught a kick on the jaw... game over.
