As a Kentucky boy and now same age as the Kentucky King I can easily say everyone here still loves him and have zero bad thoughts of this good man. Courageous to let us in on his personal business and tell his story! Stay strong Blue
You gotta respect his honesty and accountability..I bet it's a lot more athletes that are suffering from addiction and depression after professional sports..Glad he had been clean for 9 years now.
What a great guy. REAL
ALRIGHT HERE WE GO, THE WHOLE INTERVIEW IS HERE, WELCOME TO VLADTV!!! So this is your first time here, I wanna start in the very beginning. That's how we're gonna end it, Rex Chapman, always a pleasure, until next time. PEACE!!!
Courageous interview, Rex!
Best interview you’ve done yet Vlad. Thank you.
thanks!
Wow that says a lot, just pressed play, locked in!
Rex Chapman is awesome.. He was one of the best at UK.. On a side note, Is it just me or does it seem like when he's interviewing someone he doesn't really respond or react to what they say.. he just moves on to the next question and it kinda feels like it makes people a little uncomfortable like they're wondering why he's not having any sort of reaction to what they say. Usually when you're having a conversation with someone and telling stories you engage with them when they talk about something or at least have some kind of reaction to what they say rather than just a flat okay so tell me about this. Idk maybe it's the way it's edited or something. don't get me wrong I think he does a great job with interviews and I enjoy them, but I feel like he could interact more when someone talks about something rather than just saying ok and moving on to the next topic..
@@armyroh04 it is just you
Great video of redemption this man can relate to a lot of people who struggle with addiction
This boy could shoot. Being a Lakers fan I still remember seeing him play against us. Mad respect for him being so open and owning up to his mistakes. Wish you the best Rex!
REX n effect ! Rex Chapman was the best ! He was always my favorite player at UK and in the NBA. I remember seeing him light up Kobe for 30 in a first half of a Lakers game on 10-10 shooting. Rex was da Man !!!!
Outstanding interview! Mad respect for Rex Chapman. He popped up on my radar several years ago with some really thoughtful and cool responses on Twitter. It seemed like he always had an open mind about issues. Wouldn’t get pulled down into the mud by undereducated reactions to issues. Kind of a more educated ‘live and let live’. This interview made him shoot up my charts exponentially for favorite athletes. Love hearing what good man have to say about their life’s journey to this point. Keep on doing you, Rex. Thanks so much for opening yourself for us, now. And can’t leave without acknowledging the interviewer’s research and preparedness. The questions really allowed Rex to reflect on important milestones in his life. Well done, all around!!
P.S. As a 66 year old white man, the treatment Rex and his black girlfriend received, absolutely infuriates me!! Hopefully, those cretins will crawl back under their rocks, one of these days soon!
I had a friend that was a U Cincinnati fan that used to say that players stayed at UK for 4 years because they didn't want to take a pay cut going to the NBA. Rex proved him right.
great interview and story
Ok, now I get how and why Rex can see what ge sees in society and not be shy about making statements others wouldn't. He's seen, done, struggled and learned lessons that most ppl with platforms don't. I'm a big fan of this guy now.
Wow, im glad i stumbled onto this. Great seeming dude. Im a recovering opiate addict myself, so its always nice to see somebody beat that shit
What a great Human being! I had no idea, Thanks for this interview
I used to love Rex Chapman as a kid! I remember him being in the slam dunk contest!
One of my favorite interviews yet 💯
Helleva story. Didn't know he went through all that. I remember having his basketball card back in the day, and his stats really stood out to me as a kid.
I’m going to order his book. Was always a fan of him during his playing days.
Great interview, Vlad! Look into interviewing Christian and Jason Peter. They were great defensive linemen for Nebraska and the nfl that have a similar story to Rex. They would be a great interview. I know they had many issues.
Good Interview & Rex Is Very Humble Man Which Is Nice To See & Hear.
Great interview 💯
Great interview! Relatable to all kinds of people.. Thank you!!
Rex, you should’ve gone to North Carolina and your college experience would’ve been a great one!
Seems like a good guy straight up hooper
Great Interview made me buy the book
Love this interview.. Thx Rex
Great interview
Derrick Coleman should be a HOFer, among the top 5 power forwards of all time.
This Interview Is Phenomenal
VLAD You Wasn’t On Your A Game Though
Some Of These Stories You Could’ve Pressed Him On More
Still A Phenomenal Interview
Agreed. At the very least react to some of Rex's answers instead of moving on to the next topic.
Thanks Rex Chapman for your honesty. Takes humility to tell your story and that is admirable. Glad you got the therapy you needed and wishing you God’s peace and comfort as you now tell your story and lessons learned to all of us. Surely this is your legacy!
comes across as one of these rare people that remain warm and authentic inside, despite celebrity.
We used to watch Rex all the time at the Key. He would drain those 3s like nobody I've ever seen before
what a great interview. Rex seems like a really good dude. well done
This was the dopest interview u had in a minute
Awesome interview. He was off the radar for a long time. I'd love a Vlad interview of Chris Herron.
We all still love you Rex and are still rooting for you brother. You are an awesome man as you are and never forget it! One day I hope to run into at a game just to shake your hand and thank you for that kid who while having those struggles in college still came out on that floor and played your heart out! It really hurts one’s heart to know what you and your ex-wife had to go through.
Rex played in thr era of real NBA game.
Life long UK fan!! Been a part of BBN since I can remember. Rex is the first player I remember watching as a young kid. He played for a bad coach in Lexington. Growing up in Eastern Ky ever kid that played basketball wanted to be Rex Chapman and wear #3!!
I remember Rex! Watched him him back in college and his NBA career. Good baller!!
Seems like a great dude. It’d be cool to meet him actually
So and 1shitty shoes led to his opioid addiction... respect
During the late 80s, Rex was one of the first big White guards flying, dunking and shooting the deep, long-range three ball.
Hello There Rex!
One of us finally making it to vlad tv shout out ky for shyt sho 🙌
I met this guy while he was talking on stage at an AA meeting basically. I was 21 years old and in rehab and had never heard of Rex’s name or seen him play and didn’t have access to a phone or the internet so I couldn’t look up
His name before the speech. I was always a huge basketball player growing up. Later on I finally had internet access and looked up his name and instantly found the video of him cooking Michael Jordan talking shit…… I then realized I actually met a legend that night in rehab. I haven’t been to any more rehabs thank god. And I am happy to see Rex is still looking good! I remember i was joking with the girl next to me about how big the budlge in his pants really was and I had never seen someone so hung in my life! No homo!!
Oscar Schmidt was the Brazilian version of Luka Dončić.
Luka + Bird and 1k made shoots daily......that was Oscar.
Great interview. Also you could play a drinking game and every time the interviewee says "ok, so" you could do a shot. You'd get hammered.
He would thrive in today's era.
Hmm, I had no idea. Good interview. Guy could ball outta control. Seems to be handing his biz now too.
Rex always been cool
DJ Vlad needs to interview Johnny Manziel, Christian Laettner, and J.J. Redick.
Rex Chapman was a sick basketball player. He was my guy on NBA All star challenge on game boy
Never seen that background before
I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American and male. In 2012, when I was 39, I married a very pretty Black/Cherokee/White woman, who was 22 at the time. Our daughter was born in 2013, meaning she turns 11 in 2024. My ex-wife is a wonderful lady. We tried to make the marriage work, nothing bad happened, but because of our 17 year age difference, we just grew apart. Her family has always been great to me. I had visitation and 2 weeks with my daughter every summer, before the pandemic. Then, when COVID hit, for social distancing reasons, my daughter stayed full time with my ex wife. Let me say, that nobody in my family has given me any grief about marrying a Black woman. My father was Japanese-American, but my mother is from Japan. Before the pandemic, my mother took my daughter to Japan 3 times, and nobody gave them any grief. I have to tell my daughter, "don't let people just say, Oh you're Asian/Japanese." I tell her, You're also Black, Native American, and White. Incidentally, my daughter gets told that "She's not Black," because she loves to play chess, loves computers, loves cats, she swims, plays tennis, golf, and is on cheerleading teams. She gets called names like Chocolate Rice Cake, Mongol-Negro, Black Girl with Down Syndrome, Chinese Black Girl. I just tell her to "block it all out," and not pay attention to those taunts.
What is meaning of that shirt? Like destroyed NBA logo?
Thanks for this interview. Can’t believe this. So insaneeeee 700k for a season in college……. It’s crazy anybody goes to the NbA 😂😂😂😂

When are u going to interview MJ, anyway rex chapman wat a cool dude
He seems to make a lot of stuff up 😂😂😂
Rex was the first white guy I saw that was more athletic than any black player on the floor, it was quite a sight, great hairline too, now it's all gone 😂😂😂
More Michael Jai White.... Hes the man, love your interviews with him
That ain't Rex Chapman. It's Scott Van Pelt!
Michael's hand size is always mentioned!!!! Its always his hand size, vertical and athleticism!!!
Also his fundamentals. Thanks to Dean Smith ( R.I.P)
Played Mj dated a black girl and overcame a drug addiction? Sounds like a black guy to me. Back to you in the studio Bob.
They say white men can’t jump but Rex had a higher vertical than MJ coming into the league. You may be right.

Rex was no joke. He was one of the only players that gave MJ problems. And talked shit while he was cooking Mike lol
so we just going to glaze right over the 2 years at uk , :(
This man played, exactly, 666 NBA games.
I've Been 6'2 since the 8th grade. That was 23 years ago
He should’ve sued And1. Probably did. Shit, i woulda had a percentage if I was him. Thats equivalent to Wrongful death. Its just to his foot
Shit. Might should’ve sued th company who made vicondin. Probably was Perdue Pharmaceuticals
Vlad needs to do a bit more sports research before the early part of this interview was cringey - the nba been around since the 50s did he really ask is that before the NBA? But vlad handled the addiction side well leering Rex share his journey to sobriety…
Rex needs a full detox . heavy metals toxins pathogens Intestinal plaque and parasites. Get all that garbage that's way down inside removed and all the depression will go away.
Get ADIN ROSS OR KAI CENET !
Me and Adin are beefing right now
@@vladtvGet your friend NOoxygen to have a 'talk' with him 😂
vlad sometimes cant shut up

“Jordan getting caught for gambling“ makes it sound like he was doing something illegal.
He was.
What exactly was illegal about it?
Great interview
