- Former NBA player Smush Parker joined VladTV for a discussion about his life and basketball career. The Brooklyn native talked about growing up with parents who were basketball fanatics. Playing with peers who would go on to become professional players and a connection to NBA champion Kenny Smith led him to get recruited by the University of North Carolina. However, his grades prevented him from attending the college basketball powerhouse. After attending junior college and Fordham, Smush went undrafted in the NBA Draft. After brief stints with multiple NBA teams, Smush eventually landed with the LA Lakers, where he played with Kobe Bryant. Throughout the rest of the interview, Smush Parker details his interactions with Kobe Bryant and comments they made about each other once they were no longer teammates. To hear about the rest of Smush Parker's basketball career, check out the full interview above.

Smush was better than a lot of people give him credit for. He was an athletic and enjoyable player to watch. He would throw it down when he got the space🏀. He was pivotal in that game against the Suns because he helped steal the ball for Kobe to hit the last second shot.
Smusher Parkers was a dope point in the league and I was a big fan.
Thanks for the interview Vlad!
Respect to Vlad for the way he ended the interview making sure to give Smush his flowers
As a longtime Laker fan since the tail end of the Showtime era, my overall memory of Smush Parker is mostly positive. People have to remember that he played on the Lakers during a time of transition for the team in the mid-2000's during Kobe's peak (at least individually). In that mid-2000's era, Kobe was absolutely unstoppable, and it's one of those quirks of NBA history that Kobe only got one MVP (same with Shaq). I can only imagine the pressure there must've been to not only be a teammate of Kobe, but also to be his other backcourt starter. But those were still fun times to watch as a fan. I'll never forget how exciting it felt when the Lakers almost beat Phoenix in the first round of the 2006 playoffs as the seventh seed, going up 3 games to 1, only to lose the next three to a deep and exciting offensive Suns team, of course with Steve Nash as the reigning consecutive two-time MVP
Great interview, people don't realize how difficult it is to make it to the League. Vlad if you don't mind, let the guest, especially ball players get the stories out because as somebody who plays and is undervalued on teams, his advice helps motivate me to be a better player. Thank you for the interview, and appreciate you telling your side Smush. RIP Bean
Vlad doesn't let his guest speak enough... interrupts too much 😢
Great interview with Smush Parker
Fire interview
As a Los Angeles, California native and Lakers fan, Smush wasn’t Kobe worst teammate lol, It’s been players that wasn’t as good as Smush, Now did I love the Smush years? Of course not, But hey when words start flying people will say hurtful shit, Sometimes truth and sometimes lies, R.I.P Mamba and great interview Vlad and Smush 👌
Great interview, as a lifelong Lakers fan hearing from Smush Parker. Always seemed like a great guy, though at times didn't get it done on the court. Wishing him the best in everything moving forward.
Vlad, we didn't diefy Kobe once he died, he was diefied before he retired. This happens to all of the greats. Lol
That hat slick hard
A tribute to Spike Lee's Mars Blackmon character in " She's Gotta Have It". Cycling hats was a short lived style in the mid 80s
Wow this is a good interview. Diamond n a ruff.
It would be easy to say Kobe was just a jerk after hearing Smush' point of view, and maybe he was. But when Smush reported to Miami out of shape and overweight, it makes sense. Kobe had zero respect for anyone who he saw as lazy. If he did it to Shaq, he would do it to anyone.
How is he gonna see his future behaviour? Dude is just an A-hole tbh. Like every Kobe story and Kobe himself admits to it
@@chocolatethunder7148 im sure he was lazy in LA too... Maybe he wasn't heavy yet but the signs were probably there.
Kobe expected everyone to work out 4/5 times a day like him and everybody just doesn’t have that work ethic. I feel like 11 3 and 3 with 1.6 steals a game in 2 years with the lakers wasn’t a bad output for an undrafted player. That’s basically what Derrick Fisher gave, better shooter though.
Dope interview
Stand up dude💯 respect
Smush seems like a dope person 💯💪🏽
On dope.
I like dat chain he got on dat gold hit different
SMUSH‼️‼️
Had a milkshake together is jokes 😂
He was in my gym class at Newtown. Newtown was a baaadddd school but he was cool.
Wow. Smush sounds like she talks just like John Salley 😂.
Smush, don’t let Vlad get you saying things that’ll mess up your opportunity of becoming a NBA referee. This fool only thinks about himself! Why would he ask questions to get you to say negative statements about referees when you just told him you were trying to become one? SMH
Disclaimer: raptors are not in the western conference
I think he’s talking about the summer league when the raptors played in Utah
I'm a Detroiter. I have never forgotten Smush Parker. He made an impression.
Detroiter all day…. Smush was getting buckets
Another Detroiter here, I felt like he was pretty decent for a dude that went undrafted. 11 3 and 3 with basically 2 steals in his two years with the Lakers. Kobe just thought everybody was suppose to work out 4/5 times a day like him and be star and everybody can’t be a star. NBA can’t be full of stars because nobody would stand out.
Kamaru usman
Smush Blackmon
Vlad got some of the years mixed up
Snookie want smush smush
This interview didn’t get views because it was sabotaged by the Kobe stans
Without Kobe Bryant..
That Lakers team...
Would have.
Been the worst basketball team in NBA history.
Im not ever watching one second of an interview from this clown. The players on that Lakers team were atrocious.
The lakers were trash even with Kobe. The Gasol trade robbery saved the Lakers
Hahaha you cult like Kobe fans are clowns hahaha not one former teammate ever said anything nice about him until he passed now yall worship him like he's Jesus hahaha
Wouldn’t be the first team that was trash without a star player.
@@100spurs Gasol was nobody before Kobe and was nothing after kobe... He has never even been out of the 1st round of the playoffs....
Trading Shaq for nothing was the robbery.. Clearly u don't have much knowledge of the past.
Learn to read.... I said worst in NBA history.
