@@sportsgamer8524 Old Republic technically is canon since Di$sney allows EA to maintain and _create new_ content for SWTOR. SO while not official, it's _implied_ canon until claimed otherwise, as is Reven since he was in TCW. It's probably not automatically canon because Di$ney/Lucasfilms wants to change a lot and it's far too massive to do it simply, especially after Kathleen Kennedy realized pumping out half-baked stories a few times a year probably wasn't the best idea, then she claimed they were "looking into" TOR as you've stated. I'll forgive her treason if she can deliver us TOR in all of its former glory, with minimal politicizing/feminizing, but me doubts.

At the end of the Onslaught expansion Lord Scourge said he was determined to destroy Vitiate's real corpse but in doing so released a sith plague/ disease that corrupted then combined minds/consciences together from anybody who came into contact with the plague which hinted at Vitiate slowly but surely being born again or regenerated. Would have been cool if the Big Bad of the Sequels had been something similar to Vitiate/Valkorion. I did some brainstorming recently and came up with the Idea of making Darth Plagueis the final villain: His spirit survived the death of his body at the hands of Sidious, it spent the last 60-odd years jumping from Body to Body, in search of a perfect, powerful host, becoming far worse and far more evil over time, something that is beyond Jedi and Sith, an entity whose ultimate goal is to strip the entire galaxy of all life, absorb the life force into itself and then sit on the Throne for all eternity, reigning over an empty galaxy. A threat so all-encompassing that everyone has to band together to defeat it, Republic and Empire, Jedi and Dark Jedi, leading to a true reunififaction at the end of the last movie.

Got one detail wrong: he played with the Eternal Empire and the Sith Empire coincidingly. Upon seeing Valokirion, Marr said "This was your distraction?! All those years of your absence throughout our history?". The attacks of the Eternal Empire on Republic and Sith Empire territory happened shortly after Vitiate's apparent demise on Yavin IV, not 300 years afterwards. By that time, the Eternal Empire was already more powerful than the combined forces of the Republic and the Sith Empire and Valkorions children were grown up. Basically, he had to rule those two empires coincidingly in order for all that to play out.

      Nope. Sidious utterly destroys Vitiate.
Sidious can consume all of space, alter time, and rip reality itself through the use of Force Storms, burn entire planets with his Force lightning, mind dominate twenty billions, while also draining the a Force out of them, did galactic size battle mediation for straight 23 years and he did it for 24/7 without having a rest during his reign as the Emperor of the Galactic Empire up until to his death above Endor, had became so powerful that he exists as a being of pure dark side energy , had created Force Protection so durable that it can survive attacks that literally consume and destroys everything it touches, as to not let Luke and R2-D2 being destroyed by the all-destructive effects of the Force Storm, and it took every single goddamn Jedi from the time of their creation up until to 11 A.B.Y. to basically seal his spirit into Chaos (the Star Wars Equivalent of hell) for an eternity and still not killing him, whereas weak ass Vitiate's spirit got killed by his family and the outlander.
      Whereas.
I didn't see Vitiate because so powerful on the Force, that he can hide his mind and presence, even from powerful Jedi and Sith
I didn't see Vitiate had the capability to shroud the entirety of the Force in darkness, including the dark side.
I didn't see Vitiate weaken the force connection of tens of thousands of Jedi.
I didn't see Vitiate going a significant percent of light speed.
I didn't see Vitiate killing three powerful Jedi that are on the council with a light saber, and did it wrong the point that Mace Windu can't even seem to react to that.
I didn't see Vitiate did Galactic size battle mediation for straight 23 years and did it for about 24/7.
I didn't see Vitiate had became so powerful that he now exists as a being of pure dark side energy.
I didn't see Vitiate presence in the Force and turn into a dark side nexus so powerful, that he can literally ripping the fabric of the universe.
I didn't see Vitiate sucking the Force out of twenty billion, and gain more strength in the Force, without actually killing them.
I didn't see Vitiate transcended death and survived the power of billions of Jedi or possibly higher than that.
I didn't see Vitiate creating Force Storms that can consume all of space, alter time and entire dimensions, ripping reality itself, and ripping the fabric of the universe, and can perfectly control it.
I didn't see Vitiate had created Force protection or bubbles that can survive attacks that can literally destroy everything, it touches.
I didn't see Vitiate had the potential to turn the entire galaxy or the universe into the most powerful dark side nexus, and made himself the omnipotent ruler of the universe.
There are more, but I would not list all of it.
And Darth Sidious did all of it.
This is all the evidence of what all, I said in this comment:
      comicvine.gamespot.com/star-wars-universe/4015-57038/forums/darth-sidioussheev-palpatine-super-respect-thread-1877280/

Somerandom Guy, that you think Sidious ''utterly'' destroys Vitiate is outright laughable.
''Sidious can consume all of space, alter time, and rip reality itself through the use of Force Storms, burn entire planets with his Force lightning''
And yet those very force storms are not combat applicable, because Sidious would kill himself with them, Sidious didn't even have full control over his force storms.
''mind dominate twenty billions, while also draining the a Force out of them''
BYSS WAS A STRONG NEXUS POINT BEFORE PALPATINE EVER SHOWED UP. The Rakata empire built it as a base of operations and built temples and other structures there. When Sidious eventually shows up he opts to allow such structures to remain while he orders the building of others. That's important to note because Rakata ships operated through Force empowered Hyperdrive systems, and they targeted worlds Rich in Force Energy to travel to and from.

These two pages show that even during the *construction phase* of the planet when the site hadn't even been fully set up and optimized, it was greatly empowering Vader and Sids because of its Nexus state. It also shows that Vader who was not draining the workers on the planet, was able to easily and without effort draw upon the power the workers and nexus produced:

So it's true it takes little effort on Palpatine's part because the feat is empowered by the Nexus that is the planet itself. It's like saying you can push a tank down the road and it takes no effort, but oh, the tank is already turned on and in drive. Lol.
It should also be noted that Sidious had assistance in this feat, as his Dark Side acolytes were helping him.

I'll address the populations of Ziost, Byss, and Nathema here.
While we don't know the exact population of Ziost, we do know for a fact that the planet was one of the Sith Empire's largest population centers.
Situated in the heart of Imperial Space, Ziost has long played a vital role in the intricate history of the Sith. For thousands of years, in fact, the craggy, arid world served as the ancient Sith Empire's capital until infighting splintered its leadership. Today, Ziost remains an important commercial, political and population center of the Empire--this in spite of its shift from a warm climate with dense forests to a bitterly cold tundra. Whether this environmental turnabout is due to geological reasons or eons of dark side influence remains a subject of scholarly consideration.
From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Rise of the Emperor: Codex Entry titled "Ziost.")
So, Ziost's population was immense. And on top of the normal population, there was a good sized number of other Jedi and Sith on the planet at the time as well.
Just as well, let's assume that Byss did have a larger population than Medriaas and Ziost. The difference is minimal, honestly, in the grand scheme of things. Sidious drained Byss SLOWLY, over long period of time. While also controlling the population of the planet with telepathy, you might think that makes it more impressive, but it really doesn't. He was draining them, which is true, but he would have been EXPENDING as much power to control the population as he was absorbing from them, on top of that, Byss was an incredibly potent Dark Side nexus. Meaning that Sidious had the aid of an external amp as well while performing this feat.
Vitiate, on the other hand, drained the population nigh instantly, and disrupted the flow of the Force to the plane, just as he did on Medriaas. Every scrap of Force energy, on the planet, in the people on the planet, and surrounding the planet, all manipulated into one target, Vitiate.
      _________________
Side note, another point I came up with. Vitiate negatively affected the workings of the Living Force and the Cosmic Force on both Medriaas and Ziost.
The Force consists of two related, but distinct, elements: the Living Force and the Cosmic Force. The Living Force is generated by the energy of living beings throughout the galaxy. This is the Force at its most immediate and instinctive level. It is this aspect of the Force that allows for many of the impressive abilities that have fueled the aura of legend around the Jedi and Sith, and that still excites the galaxy's imagination. The ability to trick the minds of other beings, to sense their presence, and to manipulate physical objects all come from the Living Force.
From (Star Wars: Force and Destiny - Core Rulebook)
^^^ This is relevant because Vitiate wiping out all life on the planets would have left a negative effect on the planet's connection to the Living Force.
      Now for the good part.
He felt the first hints of what was waiting for him when the shuttle dropped out of hyperspace. Through the windows of the cockpit he saw a gray-and-brown planet looming large before them. Gazing at it, he felt something strange and unsettling. Something unnatural.
It took him several moments to realize what was wrong, and even when he did, he didn’t fully grasp the implications. He wasn’t feeling the Force.
The sensation was completely alien. The Force was omnipresent. It radiated stronger in certain places and at certain times, and the balance of the dark side and the light constantly shifted. But it was always there in some way, shape, or form.
Now, however, he felt nothing. He had become so accustomed to the presence of the Force in the background that its complete absence was almost overwhelming, leaving him unable to speak.
“Prepare yourself,” Nyriss said. “We’re going down to the surface.”
The absence grew steadily more pronounced as the shuttle approached and then landed on Nathema.
From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan)
The Force, not only on the planet, but AROUND the planet, was missing. Meaning Vitiate permanently damaged the Cosmic Force, leaving a hole. All of this power would have needed to go somewhere. So not only did Vitiate retain the power of the DS Nexus on Medriaas, and the power of the Sith and other denizens of the world, but also retained the power of the Force that surrounded the planet as well. This carries over to Ziost as well, as the results on Ziost are the same as the results of the Medriaas ritual. So, Vitiate has all that combined power at his disposal as Valkorion.

''I didn't see Vitiate going a significant percent of light speed.''
Lack of speed feats =/= lack of speed. Scaling from people like Revan, who in turn has scaling from people like Marr that actually have explicit speed feats, GIVE themselves over to Vitiate. The nature of augmentation is universal. Vitiate having comparable power to Sidious in the Force allows for the educated assumption that Vitiate is likewise capable of extreme speed feats.
''I didn't see Vitiate killing three powerful Jedi that are on the council with a light saber, and did it wrong the point that Mace Windu can't even seem to react to that.''
Three powerful Jedi? Lol. Jedi who are below Dooku level. Vitiate oneshotted an entire Dark Council TWICE while Pre-Prime, dominated two ANH Vader level opponents (Revan and Malak) casually Pre-Prime, and oneshotted the strike team that came after him, again, Pre-Prime.
''I didn't see Vitiate sucking the Force out of twenty billion, and gain more strength in the Force, without actually killing them''
Draining the planet was doing very little to actually aid his power in any way. As Sidious himself states that all the draining does is slow the decay of his own body.
''I didn't see Vitiate had became so powerful that he now exists as a being of pure dark side energy.''
Shows how little you know of Vitiate, Vitiate became a Dark Side nexus post Nathema ritual, the ''Revan'' novel confirms that he is a Dark Side nexus when the Imperial Guard drew power from ''the emperor'' himself.
''I didn't see Vitiate creating Force Storms that can consume all of space, alter time and entire dimensions, ripping reality itself, and ripping the fabric of the universe, and can perfectly control it.''
But, Sidious couldn't actually ''perfectly control it''. And i would argue that Vitiate DID use those Force Storms, but not to the degree that Sidious did.
Concluding, you're lowballing Vitiate heavily, and you wank Sidious, heavily. So i'd suggest you make a good research on Vitiate, before commenting nonsense.

One thing you guys all seem to be forgetting is that Vitiate COMPLETELY mastered both sides of the force as valkorion and the result of this was him creating a massive army of knights who knew the force not as light or dark but both. Why do you think revan was so damned strong he had learned that each side has a limit to how strong you can get and only by combining both will you be able to transcend these limits. Palpatine is said to only have mastered lightning (sure to a super impressive level) and other small time flashy abilities no sorcery no sith alchemy so in truth Palpatine was not a true master of the dark side. All the had was a sharp tongue and a super potent connection to the Force.

3:29 Bit of a lore error there. In actuality during his reign of the Sith Empire, after centuries of rebuilding it, and even past the time Revan tried to assassinate him. Vitiate could no longer tolerate the constant sith infighting that plagued the Empire, which made it weak, and in his own eyes "an utter failure".
So he then decided to create a new empire, acquiring the body of a Zakuulan warrior who we now know as Valkorian, and proceeded to unify Zakuul, and then build that up in his own vision. This empire (known as "The Eternal Empire of Zakuul") was different from that of the Sith Empire, and the Republic completely. Force sensitives served as both advisers to the throne, and as a policing body, but they did not focus on either the light or dark side of the force, instead they used the force more as a tool or an extra limb, not as some mystical unknown body or as a means to serve their own personal goal.
And he did this all the while also acting as the Sith Emperor, planning his rituals to make him even more powerful, and trying to destroy the Republic.

Its incredible to learn in the revan book that revan was powerful enough in the force and in will that once he and Malak had left imperial space he managed to rewrite the brainwashing that the emperor did on him and Malak but he still had no real idea because he instead of starting the jedi Civil War for the emperor he instead did it to prepare the galaxy for the return of Vitiate though he had no real knowledge of what this true threat was because he unknowingly altered their memories and what not

For your next Q&A, why do ships use their engines/thrusters/whatever in space when there is no drag? Theoretically, unless you need to change direction or go faster, there’s no reason to.
For example, the _Raddus_ and its accompanying ships could have held their shields for longer if they each gave one blast of speed from their engines, turned them off, and diverted the power they would have spent on them to their shields. Has no-one ever seen this in the countless years that there have been spaceships?

      @adamsosna7263 Před 6 lety +6

      I think I can answer-
      1 story reasons
2 SW is science fantasy sci-fi hybrid meaning it has many sci film elements and extensive lore but is also consisting of stuff that's total BS (still am a nerd and fanatic of the franchise i was scientificly speaking)
3*/4*- i have two theories: engines must be on in order to keep shields active so your gonna be better off accelerating when ya need to Run-and thast what they wnated to do since no ammount of shields can stop a fleet of resurgents (each one has almsot double if not triple firepower of ISD ) plus those gian guns of supremacy (ad the fact it had comparable firepower to the entire fleet on its own) and considering that 3 ISDs can obliterate a planet killing off most of civilized population in 1-2 days well...
/there might be some in built mechanism that prevents that manuver as it would mean drifting so in case of engine mulfunction/loss of fuel or power ship won't float with crew doomed inside rather stay near last known location from before signal loss(that would happen due to lack of energy) I guess that from the fact that Holdo's ship kinda suddenly slowed down and tilted like when you would rapidly turn around Ion stream
5 they needed to run from a base and Supremacy was self sufficient so they could not outlast it's supply that would mean they were locked at standardized speed while FO initially slower could accelerate indefinitly
EcpameMCP made valid point about chaning direction that hoever is partially answered in lore- wonder why only most expensive ships have dedicated manuvering engines? eg-chiss clawcraft (super tie interceptor of the chiss ascendency)? their standard engines are based on particle like prupolsion most commonly Ion engines those type of engines in starwars ra able to redirect ion flow so they would turn without turning the engine sructure (the emmited glow doesnt indicate the flow in bigger ships since its radiation, not atcual propelant)
6 Main reactor core might take a while to start up and since its directly connected to engines it might reboot?if not then emergency runing on of the engines would take a long time power up again
7 There is high chance the engine exhaust is actually working as ventilation for the reactor if thats the case then WELCOME HYPERDRIVE MELTDOWN aka turn organics aboard into meaty slime and totaly char the closets ones while at the same time on the front of the ship there will be plp vommiting from radiotion poisoning and computers breaking aslo possible decompressure of entire vessel
8 our own real life Ion stream engines used in experimental vessels can generate enormous ammounts of thrust (speed ) but at very low accelration rate so it would make sense youd need to constantly accelarate since they can afford it due to galaxy of resources that is what they do and that is why the can turn around in space without slowing down to like 2 mph every time (im maing the case to extreme of course but thats how it would feel for guy who drops speed so drasticly

Space isn't a total vacuum. There's about 1 atom per cubic metre. Maybe that's what keeps slowing them down and requires constant engine. Changing direction though... that's done like that purely to look cool :)

It's more about enforcing your will on someone else, he was extremely powerful so only extremely strong-willed individuals would be able to resist it. SPOILERS
During the JK storyline you do get dominated by him but you're freed from his control by the force ghost of your Jedi Master, Revan was also able to break free from his mind control once he went back to the wider-galaxy and during the Ziost crisis you're able to resist his mind-control.

The part regarding Zakuul is confusing. My understanding was he was building his Zakuul Empire, all the while overseeing his Sith Empire, since the timeline of events between everything had not been that long between the battle with Revan and the start of the Zakuul invasions. "He hid from the galaxy and spent several centuries" makes it sound as though this occurred after Revan.

He wanted a powerful armada called the Eternal Fleet, while searching he stumbled on Zakkul. Eventually he considered the Sith a failure and built a new empire on Zakkul. I believe it is after Revan because Vitiate was inspired by Revan to start a family but I may be mistaken

They really should continue Legends continuity. There’s still many stories s to be told. What happened to Zayne Carrick? Where was he Jarael, Gryph and the others during the events of the first KOTOR game? How exactly did the Mandalorian Wars go down? Can we have a KOTOR prequel game set in that era as a way to see/play as Revan again? What happened to the Starkiller’s Clone? Was he a clone at all? What happened after Cade Skywalker’s story?
Honestly at this point continuation of those stories interest me much more than the new trilogy and “Canon” at this point.

RCBM Mines The mandalorian wars have already been explained enough. the real crime that happened with the expanded universe purge is the fact that we never found out what happened to Luke, Jaina, Kyle Katarn and the rest of the new jedi order. We literally had a cliffhanger with them heading for Mortis. They even originally planned a trilogy starring jaina, the sword of the jedi before the eu purge thus cancelling all projects

I think George may have canonized vitiate when sidious says in ROTS that immortality/cheating death has only been achieved by one person to Anakin. Some people think he’s talking about plagueis, but plagueis technically didn’t figure it out. He did however do a ritual that accidentally created anakin but that’s different. Also I know ROTS was before the old republic stuff, but the character idea may have been a thing.

  • @shuoyang6961

Honestly I LOVE Vitiate's background story. He was born to be ruthless, ruled his home planet relentlessly and entitled with the name of Sith Lord, at the age of 13. He was so wise and manipulative that he avoided the fight for power and the Hyperspace War and gain full control of the Sith in the reconstructed Sith Empire. His ultimate goal and his scheme fully embodied the idea KOTOR2 conveyed, that by sending echos throughout the galaxy by war could build connections with all creatures and via this echo one could controll all.
But......His power really sounds like a copy of that of Nihilus'. And the idea that the True Sith was about belief not military force or "machines" wasn't shown in TOR......
