Neither of these phones is SO good that I'd switch to them. The iPhone 15 Pro Max has no SIM tray in the U.S. version, and the Samsung S24 Ultra can't run custom ROMs such as Calyx or Graphene. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll go fetch my trousers from the BBQ grill. Aloha.

Let’s face it both are great phones made by top technology companies. It all comes down in the end to which ecosystem you buy into and which OS you prefer.
we should also be thankful, with Samsung and Apple pushing each other to do better, which is a win for the consumer

Okay besides the ecosystem and the OS - More Features, freedom to customize, more fun to use, better display, more futuristic design, AI, faster charging, better zoom, 7 years of updates, better connectivity and lot more :)

I agree that both phones are amazing phones and do everything. It’s really just a matter of preference and which ecosystem you prefer.
Being able to use two apps at once via splitting the screen is a big one for me. Reconciling the checking account is way easier. Both phones are super badass! However, I chose to use my 24+ over my 15PM because it's more useful. I have both eco systems and yes, Apple's is better. But I'm not a CZcamsr. I use my phone more than the tablet.
Genuinely use splitscreen like 30% of the time I'm on my phone. Love that they've made it even easier now that the edge panel directly has the option to go into splitscreen! Not sure if this was already a thing (I had an s22u before) but so incredibly useful.
I own both as well and find myself using the s24 a lot even though I have little experience using it 😂
@@t0astface How much of an upgrade is the S24 ultra from the S22 ultra? I currently have an S22 ultra and have upgraded to the S24 ultra but still waiting on delivery. Part of me thinks there's not gonna be much to it besides better cameras and display but not even sure if they're going to be that much better.
@@mike309saaAI features, 7 years of updates, better camera quality and performance, no rounded display, anti reflective coating is also a huge deal in sunlight, better glass protection, 2600 nits if Im correct, a bit better speakers and microphone, a lot better chip performance - which also means a better battery performance, and thats pretty much it, you should have probably waited for the S25U since tech gets the best updates every 3 years, but you will be 100% satisfied with your new phone

My first iPhone was the 15 Pro Max. It lasted for 3 months. The quirks of IOS broke me. A lot of things just half baked. I ordered the S24 Ultra as soon as it was available. Couldn't be more relieved.
Everything wrong with apple is fixed or even better on android.
Everyone talks about apple ecosystem. But I think samsung's is pretty good. Watch, lights in your house, samsung tags, TV, washer, drier, vacuum....I don't think the gap between them are near what it use to be.
Me too had the iPhone 15 pro max and just switched to the s24 ultra and do not regret it at all so much you can do it. Admittedly the iPhone is slightly smoother but way less features

The way I look at it isn’t popular with Apple people, I am fortunate to have both phones for work. The Apple is for the people who don’t want anything to complicated and testing which is ok because it’s a system you really can’t muck up, Unlike Android which opens up the way to unlimited customisation which opens up the way to endless possibilities

I'm in a hybrid situation. S24 U with Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, 15" MacBook Air and iPad 12.9 Pro. The S24 U, which I just received, is really nice. The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is just okay. My biggest issue is I have is use windows machine at work, which I spend most of my time on, and because of that Android works well. But if work went Mac I would use all Apple products. I like both ecosystems but not mixed. I have found that I can use Google Messages regardless of OS, which is handy. Thanks for the video and cheers from Kentucky USA

I chose the basic s24 instead of the ultra. I had the iPhone 15 pro max already for the camera, and use the s24 as my daily driver. It’s plenty good as a daily. Camera is solid in good lighting, and it never skips a beat. I enjoy the merits of both platforms.
I would love a full camera comparison between the 15 PM and S24 Ultra. Has that Samsung shutter issue been addressed?

It’s like arguing about what brand of screwdriver you prefer. They’re just tools.
That's the exact same thing that I used to think until the cheaper screwdrivers started stripping on me. I found out very quickly that, no they are not all the same. But of course this is just simply my opinion. It's either a good brand name such as DeWalt or buying your problem all over again messing around with cheap screwdrivers. This has been a proven fact.
That's like saying what brand of car you want. It matters.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to the consumer. Whether it's the eco-sysyem, the longetivity, the comfortability, the price etc, the phone that fits the needs of the consumer will be the deciding factor.

Can you do a camera comparison after the S24U gets a camera software update?
i am previously s series user but months ago i got my first macbook m2 also. i am not apple frear but i am now confused what should i buy. i am just a normal user.
The funny thing is that the 24ultra actually uses more titanium. Also the 24 from the 23 went from aluminum to titanium rather then apple that went from steel to titanium which is why it dropped a lot of weight in compared. Aluminum is already lighter then steel and pretty close to same weight as titanium. I myself on my 23Ultra wouldn't feel any difference since I still have all my edge plastic protection and case from purchase 6 months ago. 😅
Yeah but it's only grade 2 titanium as compared to Apple's grade 5
@jonasgarcia3668 the glass will go way before whatever kind of titanium they use. What are we expecting with our phones these days use them as weapons or hockey pucks. Like come on this has become a gimmick selling tactic.

erase reflection and erase shadow is not a "galaxy ai" feature. it's built into the camera app. even a54 has it. the galaxy ai is more to the generative part like moving objects and the generative fill
Both features are powered by AI and were highlighted during the announcement of the Galaxy AI branding (which I’m pretty sure covers anything AI related on any of these devices).

Superb upload. S23 Ultra user here, i have to be honest both devices are magnificent, depends on what operating system you're into. Plain as.
Another good no BS vid Mark. I switched from the 14 PM to the S23 Ultra and the 2 main real-world differences were a) s23U miles better battery life and b) s23U better screen brightness (nits) when used outside. There's no way I'd go back to an iPhone. PS Confused about iOS Apps v Android Re: WhatsApp? There's isn't a native WA for iPad or iPhone OS?
Thanks for the video. Update: I returned my S24Ultra, and went back to my IPhone 15pro. Not because of the ecosystem, but because Apple software for me is just more refined and is more seamless. Notes for Apple is by far for me the best. On android I had to look for a third part app, to try to get something that was similar in functionality and…wasn’t there? The fingerprint sensor on the S24ultra though better than the P8P still is finicky and not that accurate, same goes with face unlock which still does not work if lighting is not optimal. The build quality of the S24ultra is fantastic.. and yes the screen is sharper than the iPhone. I still believe that the iPhone takes better pictures and video from experience they just seem to be a bit more natural and sharper looking. If the face unlock and fingerprint sensor were more consistent I probably would go with the P8P as I think I like the more bare bones android experience.
I wish there was a S24 Ultra with the S24+ form factor. The boxy look has become long in the tooth for me. Thanks for your thoughts, Mark. Always entertaining. Keep your trousers damp! ;)
Aways refreshing to see comparison videos based purely off of real-world usage. Because at the end of the day, that's what we'll be doing - real-life user cases.
I'm impressed with Samsung. They've made equipment on par to Apple's juggernaut phone. This is the first time I can say that it doesn't matter which one you buy, you will have a great experience either way.
I’ve been an iPhone user since the iPhone 4 which was my first smartphone so I have never tried Android.I have been tempted to try it,especially with Samsung’s last few Galaxy S series but I just couldn’t give up my Apple Watch.
I switched and the Samsung watch is superior in battery life compared to my old Apple Watch. I have the Samsung watch it’s just better and looks better don’t miss my iPhone at all would never go back. Can even use my AirPods still via Bluetooth and still using my iPad
Apple Watch is way better than the Samsung Watch, Samsungs watches are an awful experience, I lasted 2 days before running back to Apple… I have the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and NO Samsung Watch can even compare.

Great review, I would never move from Apple to Samsung just as I would never swap from a pc to a Mac. Familiarity is the driver. The diminishing returns of Apple vs Samsung are no longer a deal breaker.

Both are great phones. I kept my S23 Ultra due to the better zoom camera. (There weren't enough other changes to justify the upgrade for me).
I have been using the S24 Ultra from the release date and I have got to say Samsung has smashed it out of the park, regards android vs ios they are both great, if you like to be told how to have your phone buy an iPhone, if you like to have your phone how you like it get a Samsung/android phone you can not go wrong with either

I feel you on this. I can't speak from an iPhone perspective being as though I no longer own an iPhone, however I still know exactly what you are saying because I do own 2 MacBook Pros and a iPad and know from experience how horrible it is to download apps / software from the internet and have on my MacBook Pros. Something as simple as Google Chrome. I seen times where I was able to get it to install from the Internet, and everything worked fine until I shutdown my MacBook Pro, the icon always disappears which is very annoying to have to install it all over again. It's not like that with Windows or Android. I feel if I'm being forced to use Safari as my Browser when fact is , it should always be my choice no matter what. It's for very simple reasons like this why I just can't do the iPhone thing. I want what I want on my devices, not simply what the one that just charged me an arm and a leg for it wants me to have on it. And that's bottom line material.
OF COURSE we want a full comparison of the camera systems. Did you really need to ask? Personally, I'm particularly interested in the 5X cameras, especially on sharpness and cropping. Does the higher resolution of the S24 make a meaningful difference? Similarly, does the higher res of the S24 main lens pay off? I've heard that the main lens of the S24 binned down to 50mpx is its best look, but how does that compare heads up vs the 48mpx shots from the Max main camera? Finally please pay attention to sharpness. Sure, the AI and bokeh and night mode stuff is important. But at the end of the day, I want to be able to get pictures that are actually sharp, not just processed to look sharp.

I just love the iPad mini 6 and the iPhone 15 pro combo, I use my iPad in the house the most and is just sweet that I don’t need to pick up my phone for anything. Then having the smaller pro for day to day usage and portability is great. I challenge you to find a better combo.
Samsung S24 ultra can do everything that your iPhone 15 pro and ipad mini can do and more. Samsung S24 Ultra can be 3 different phones itself. One mode for you, another one for your private world, another one for your kids . Also, it can be a computer ( Samsung Dex) 😂😂😂
I'm not against apple . Personally I use Ipad pro. I just don't like iphone.

But there is something to say about carrying a small phone about that does what I need and have a iPad or a bigger phone at home to use. I was using the iPhone 14 and the s23 ultra at one point. Now I'm hoping apple bring a new iPhone mini 16 that would be perfect for me.

Is the s24u as good as iPhone uploading to social media, Samsung have said they optimised for socials since s22u though the 22 and 23 both look absolutely horrendous on say Snapchat compared to the iPhone. ( Currently on s23u )

I agree with the "pixel like" look of the s24 ultra camera this year. I said the same thing. First time ive been happy with samsung photos. They look mlre natural this year. The darks stay dark, and they have that moody contrasy look like the pixel
how about the video when posting content (stories, reels) on Instagram from both of these phones? Samsung got a bit better over the time at this .. but how much better?
I have never had an issue with storage space when getting the lowest storage model. Not once.

Problem is the upgrades come out 4 months apart from Sept to Feb iPhone latest is the best, then from march to sept Samsung latest is the best - and if you like one or the other it is fine it will always be so this see-sawing
I'm not big on the this phone is better than that phone thing. They are both really good. It's about preference. I will say though that I was using a 15pm and now I'm using a s24u and much much prefer it. It's really good. It just feels like a beast of a phone.

I've got an iPhone 15 plus and Ultra and they are both great phones. The iPhone is more integrated, consistent and better speaker and audio wired (true bit audio output). And a real shame that neither support aptx, neither sound as good as cheaper phones with aptx adaptive earbuds.
I love the Ultra's stylus. Amd great tgat Samsung have followed Apple's lead with longer updates. A shame Samsung have copied ios so much (scrolling widgets, focus modes, lock screen and more), it makes my Ultra feel a bit like a "me too" though it has a large range of features. I'm hoping Samsung will go down the Nothing phone UI route and go for something fun and distinctive).
The Ultra could do with copying the button placement and balance in the hand of the iPhone and move the bottom lens up - my index finger lands on the ultras bottom lens. And it would allow Samsung to put the stylus on the right side, making it easier for right handed people to get to rhe stylus.
But they're both excellent phones.
Night mode for photos is still better on the iphone, so although the S24 ultra has all the fancy AI stuff I prefer to have better night mode. Hopefully apple will introduce some AI features on the iphone 16, like a much better Siri.
iPhones cameras are just better in every way, every way.
I'm due for an upgrade in April and am torn between the two phones. I've never used an iPhone and have always used Samsung but as a musician and content creator, I'm looking for the best camera for picture and video. I don't want to swap to IPhone honestly but the best video from what I've seen, is on the iPhone
The difference in video is miniscule, plus you can do more with the Samsung camera app

Half my family is Apple and half Samsung….the Samsung half has to get a new phone every 2 years because they don’t last & the ones that have Apple we get to run the sucker until the software won’t update. My dad is still using an IPhone 11 Pro Max that works just like the day he got it. I have an MacBook I purchased in 2012 that still works like the day I got it as well. I’m on a 14 pro max right now and plan on using it for at least 3 more years minimum maybe 5. if I upgrade my iPhones it’s because I like the drastic change in the design which they only really have significant changes every 3years & even when I do that I trade it in because the IPhone is still functional and perfectly good.
ive held and used a Samsung as my mom once asked me to send and email and text for her cause she was driving & couldnt…..that phone felt cheap in hand quality wise and the functionality of it was all over the place. The functionality of an Apple is very streamline and straight forward.
It takes a while to get used to iOS. But it does work well.
I use a 13proMax and a Note 20 every day:
iPhone unlocks quicker, better camera, cool interactions with other apple devices. Louder speakers. More phone cases/third party hardware.
On the note, Google apps work better/more features . You can get through menus faster. More stable (shockingly) Less typing errors. Easier to share attachments. Of course, more customizable.
@@waxpatch at least compare to phones from the same year, also tha Note can do a lot more stuff even though is way older than your iPhone
After 10 years of Android and 9 years of Apple I highly prefer Android, not to mention the app accessibility. My personal phones have been the 10 years of Android and I have had 9 years of work phones being Apple and me not being able to find the most simple settings. Sadly I feel like Apple phones are so watered down for simplicity that it makes it hard to actually find in depth settings. But what do I know?
Tempted to switch from my iPhone to S24 Ultra. I tried the S9 Tab Ultra and it was a disaster! It wasn’t even compatible with itself. 🤷♂️
I’ve been with apple a long time. But I really am thinking of switching to the Samsung galaxy s24 ultra. The only thing that’s stopping me is on the iPhone I can see my boys and wife location. But on Samsung you can’t. Phone really dose look sick

This about sums up the comparison. Apple fan boys will always buy the Iphone no matter.! However if you can see through the Apple Eco system we all know the S24 is the best phone on the market.
It's quite simple. The Apple iPhone is made for people who want something simple and user friendly yet they sacrifice flexibility. The Galaxy Android phones are for those who want their phone to be more flexible, less software involvement, and can take control of their phone and how it functions.
Just have two phones, one from Samsung and one from Apple. And end the argument once and for all. Use the best of both worlds. That’s a win-win

I been an iPhone user for 6 years, however I recently switched back to Android, I am not invested in the Apple ecosystem so it was an easy switch, I love my s24 ultra, I took a picture of the moon tonight.
I have both. With no AI, Iphone now feels like a dumb phone. Web summarize on the galaxy is a game changer for me. Being able to read much more in less time is just great. This is probably the last iphone with no AI, so those who have it must sell it because it will loose value faster than any iphone before.
I have never used an iPhone before so I can't make decisions between the two and I have the Ultra
Man I wanted to switch to the S24U but when I saw it on display at best buy the phone is enormous with sharp corners.. not for me! Great phone but damn that thing is a brick

For me, the choice of phone boiled down to the in-car experience. I'm surprised most reviewers never cover it. Android Auto simply sucks compared to Carplay and there's a new version coming for 2024 and newer [high end] cars. If it weren't for this one deal breaker, I'd probably have gone for a Samsung phone.

I bought s22 ultra 2 years ago. Sold it, honestly it was crap. Now thinking of Pixel 8 pro, Sony Xperia 1V, OnePlus 12 or an Iphone (never used one). Any suggestions?

Basically samsung had a lot of problems with the battery. But with the s23 ultra and the s24 ultra everything changed. I have been using samsung phones for a couple years. Never try other phones. I have 3 weeks with the s24 ultra and its amazing, battery laast me almost 3 days probably as much the iphone 15 promax. The s24 ultra is a lot more optimized now. Every thing runs smooth and feels much better.

It would be great if someone devised an android app that would work with Apple watch! I got meself the S24 Ultra with free watch for (after discounts) just over £600.I also saw Apple watch with a huge discount so bought one of them as well.A cheap SE 20 of ebay hidden in me pocket and away I went with me mac watch.Since then I read a lot of interesting comments about how good the 15 Plus was,that when I saw it with £100 off I bought it.And it is excellent, all the comments in favour of it are true....nevertheless me S24 Ultra is still me favourite despite the crappy watch which Apple runs rings around.

AI was the buzzword in 2018. I remember the “ai camera mode” that recognises landscapes and sky. Then the p20 pro and p30 pro. Now ai is much much better but I think that apple will push ai much better than google’s implementation on s24 ultra and pixel.

I use them both and samsung display is better and this is not arguable.
But the camera on 24 ultra is a disappointment.

It wasn't an issue of the screen on the s24 ultra being washed out. The colors were toned down a bit, which Samsung openly admitted. It's a non-issue, as the first update will include the vividness slider. I think it's really weird that you're acting like it wasn't a thing at all. You may like the new colors, but it was an issue. Also, s24 ultra is android 14. I'm loving my s24 ultra, and after this first big update on Feb 22, it will get even better.
