Pop-Up Tutorial 11 - Slots

- Slots are an important element of Pop-up construction. They are used when pop-up planes are interlocked, or when one piece of card projects through another. They are also used to make wing-tab joints which can be used in place of glued tabs.

i'm attempting to make a treehouse pop up so i used this slot technique for the elevated house and the twisting fold for the tree behind it imgur.com/a/I8CPQ i really like how the house looks but the tree... not so much, lol. i'm stumped coz i can't use a V fold for the tree as it would crash down the house when the page is folded. the tree needs to be closer to the house - or part of it should probably be under the house... any advice to improve this mess? lol
You could make the tree fold in a different way by using the combination of Slots and 45 degree folds (as explained in tutorial 25 at 2.30). An alternative would be to use the Strap mechanism (Tutorial 9) - this would generate two gullies, one to build the house onto, the other for the tree.

what kind of glue are you using?
Any glue will work ok - I prefer solvent based glue, in the tutorials I'm using UHU.
