⭐️ Our homemade pita bread recipe is easy to make with flour, water, salt, yeast, and olive oil. This recipe yields cute pita pockets that are fragrant, soft, pillowy, puffy, and delicious.
⭐️ Ingredients
¾ cup (180 grams) lukewarm water
2 teaspoons (6 grams) instant dry yeast or active dry yeast*
1 teaspoon sugar
2 cups (300 grams) all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons olive oil

This came out great. Just make sure on the last 15 min rise, your surface is WELL floured, and use a wide spatula to pick them up and transfer them to the oven, to get the maximum rise.
That’s good to know. When there’s flower left after baking you can just brush it off.
What measurements did u use?
Ugh i forgot that last rise. I basically got pizza dough. Still delicious tho!

It’s fantastic! Tasty, fluffy and ghee we didn’t know what we missed out on.
Turning a baking sheet instead of a pizza stone works GREAT! (No need to oil it!) 👍🏻 no supermarket pita’s again ☺️
If someone wants the recipe (what i usually do) for 6 pitas
1packet (10gr) instant yeast
10grams sugar or honey or something sweet for the yeast to feed from
250 ml water
2 tablespoons olive oil ( or like a 5 second pour)
350 gr 000 flour
Bonus tip: you want your cooking surface to be HOT. THE HOTTEST IT CAN BE. When the bread rises and lightly browns flip it for like 30 seconds more and ur done :)

I am elated! This recipe worked so well for me when I tried it for the first time today! We had a lovely gyro dinner using this recipe as well as your tzatziki sauce recipe! I used my cast iron pan in the oven at 500°. Next time I just need to keep the dough thicker when I roll it out since it broke after stuffing it. 😅 It was mesmerizing to watch it go from flat dough, to a few bubbles, and finally a big bubble!

I suppose there's no wrong way to eat these, but the whole purpose of making a pita bread is to get those huge pockets on the inside, so that you can make falafel sandwiches, or stuff them with shawarma. Or if they don't puff up very well, you can cut them into wedges and make pita chips.

The yeast can't rise without sugar. Most of the sugar will be gone after the yeast eats it

Extra virgin olive oil is just bad. High fat butter, in low amounts.
