Snags and hiccups are a part of working on cars. I do it for a living. It's just the way it is. Sometimes you can improvise, sometimes you just can't. Every 10 minute job is one broken bolt away from turning into a 3 day ordeal. Good job man.

protip for when ever you do anything involving opening the brake system. if you depress the brake pedal fully simultaneously as you remove the line(obviously need a second person) then use a pry bar or anything to ensure it stays down the master cylinder will be closed and not bleed out over time. so you wont have to rush when youre opening the brake system. very useful if youre putting new soft lines on so you lose as little fluid as possible and makes the bleeding process easier and faster since you wont get air in the master cylinder

Tip for disconnecting brake lines- Before you start, put a bar or something holding the brake pedal down about an inch, this locks the fluid in the master so you can take your time with stuff being disconnected. When the work is done, open the bleeder and let the pedal up, gravity will bleed out the air while you crack your congratulatory beer. If the car will be disassembled a long time, remove the brake light fuse or disconnect the battery so the brake lights don't drain it.

Damn that sway bar is nicely positioned. I bought a sway bar kit for my Mercedes and for the rear one I would have had to drop the rear subframe to install it since the swaybar goes over the subframe... Well it handles much better with 34mm front swaybar compared to stock 28mm, rear seemed optional to begin with. Then there is the fact that theres a big iron block inline-6 in the front. Its TIGHT, there is 5cm between the aux belt and radiator. And theres a 3cm deep belt driven fan in between. I feel like a neurosurgeon after doing any job that requires removing the fan.

There is something about your vid's that are so motivating for me. Last year when you where posting about swapping your trans all by yourself, it got me to drop the trans on my car and do the clutch and flywheel (at the same time I decided to install my turbo kit). So i asked for a week vacation from work and started wrenching on the floor with floor jacks and maybe about 40 hours of work and many rusty/broken bolts later I was spooling and getting used to a new 3 puck grippy clutch. A few weeks ago I was trying to install a whiteline sway bar and both bolts to one of my D bracket broke on the subframe (I was angry). I had to order a rivnut insert tool and some inserts but haven't had the motivation to do it ( I hate working on the floor). But I feel like after tomorrow there will be less swaying than usual on my car (hopefully) . Thanks Greg

Also, you should really consider purchasing an electric impact gun. Ryobi's little $100 1/2" impact is surprisingly effective for 90% of bolts. It might struggle with a crank bolt or axle nut, but most suspension and drivetrain bolts, it can handle no problem. I run a kobalt brushless 1/2" and it has only lost out to a super stuck crank bolt that took an oxy torch and a snap on air impact to get off. Milwaukee and harbor freight's battery impact guns are also king. But bang for the buck (and the weight/size... its basically the same size/weight as a cordless drill) the ryobi can't be beat.

Try doing this and breaking off one of the studs that hold the subframe into place, that shit delayed me about 4 weeks to get it somewhat near fixed. Since it’s part of the chassis rail you can’t just replace it either. I now drive around with one subframe stud with a different thread pitch which is essentially just a long bolt welded to the inside of the chassis rail.. that shit still feels sketchy
