Maintenance man here, god forbid you have a flood in your unit and you're not home. If we have to drill it out and you damage the unit below or collapse a ceiling, your ass is grass

Fire department gets called and arrives well before maintenance does (unless you live in site) if it was that bad. Water tends to take the path of least resistance The fact is, having a lock we don't have access to hinders us from identifying the leak which means instead of 1 or two units flooding, its double. That or you have to do an emergency shut off to the building because someone wanted to be different. Not only are you looking at an automatic lease violation, but your renters insurance may not cover damages and leave the tenant liable
@@tactony99 i can see why theyd be upset at you for changing the lock, but i dont get how that causes any more damage in this situation than is already done. again, if you hear that water is coming in somewhere and it wasnt the tenant in said room reporting it because theyre not there, the place will be heavily damaged no matter what lock is on the door. that extra 3 minutes it takes for you to wreck the lock is not a significant amount of time when the flooding on the other side has already happened. again i can see them not wanting people changing stuff, but this situation doesnt make sense as a justification for it.

There was a viral post about some people that went on vacation and came home to an empty home with no signs of forced entry Funny thing is the person that broke in to my place a few years ago used a Dremal and found out I have a Great Dane. XD

They can't; if you just bump any key, it will just bottom out. The real key to this working is the fat O-ring that bounces the key backwards after you strike it while holding a twisting tension on the key. Also, all the teeth on this key are exactly the same height and width designed just to cycle the pin tumblers.

@@thanks_cap624 Всему научил, сейчас технологии поинтереснее, например брелок, в котором впаяна недостающая деталь схемы электромагнита или в том же брелоке магнит, без которого не открыть замок, только зачем это сейчас надо, когда замки и ключи стали очень разнообразными и сложными, советские замки открывались шпилькой за 3 секунды)) Плюс онлайн датчики которые тебе не только на телефон сразу скинут сигнал но и видео дурачка покажет во всех ракурсах, причем камеры с обратной связью, где ты дурня так в динамик обматеришь, что он на всю жизнь заикой останется))

It’s called a bump key. If you find a key that fits in a lock but doesn’t turn you can put a rubber grommet on it. Tap it rapidly and the grommet will bounce it back and forth and the pins will shoot up into place and unlock as your putting rotating pressure like you would if you were turning it to unlock it.
As former locksmith i've allways known this but, never shared it with people who don't need to know. However, some simply don't care enough and make these types of contribution to a society that is already struggling with lawlessness.😠

I've started many vehicles, machines, equipment with few keys. My favorite is the Case Dozer Key...it looks like an 80s GMC key. I can basically start almost anything with it. 👍
Idk if you're joking or not, but making people feel unsafe is a good thing if they are being unsafe. People need to make sure their locks are high quality.
Key bumping has been around for a very long time, only being made well known by videos like this. Now that people have been taught how to break in to a standard lock. This is why most look companies have added anti bump / anti pick pins to any quality lockset. which looking at the cylinder in this video there is not any of these pins. Not to mention the last chamber is empty.
you say this like a "gotcha" but that's the entire point of this video. to raise awareness (both of the tools themselves, so that covert instruments can sell them) but also of the need for lock makers to take action on attacks that have been around for a very long time (comb picks, bumps, rakes, unskilled picking).

The last chamber is empty because the key doesn't reach. There's no reason to set that chamber for this demonstration
