    Title is somewhat misleading. She asked Henry about the "gegenpressing style of Red Bull teams", Henry probably didn't hear the question too well and went on to explain the pressing of Red Bull teams without mentioning that gegenpressing is slightly different to what he explained.
    This is regular aggressive and risky pressing, gegenpressing is doing that but specifically trying to exploit the moment the opponent has just got the ball off you and is a bit disorganized. Henry not quite addressing the whole question (and explaining whatever is more interesting/relevant instead, which is fair when you're on TV) and whoever made this video title not knowing the difference between the two terms made this a pretty misleading title, which is a shame because the video is actually a great visual explanation of coordinated risky pressing.

    That's not Gegenpressing. That's simply pressing. Gegenpressing is pressing to get the ball back right after it was lost. In these about 5 seconds the team that just won the ball is very vulnerable because the focus shifts from defense to offense.
    Pep's Barça caught a lot of opponents in this way. So did Klopp's Dortmund. For Dortmund it was their main attacking strategy. Didn't work anymore in 2014/15 when their opponents started playing long balls immediately after winning the ball. Dortmund was then forced to have possession and didn't know what to do with it.

    • @wander7317
      @wander7317 Před rokem +4

      As a Liverpool fan, I’d say probably not. At Anfield, there’s a very good chance it’s the Reds. At the Camp Nou, there’s also a very good chance it’s Barca. There was some world class talent in Salah, Mane, Trent, Van Dijk, Thiago and Allison and when combined, they were an incredibly intense side to play against. Combine that with a great captain with excellent technique and experience and of course, the whole team had a particular tendency to run like hell at every opportunity with a huge range of passing and technical ability across the board. But the individual talent of that Barcelona team drilled in a style that emphasises very short and dynamic passing and attacking play was ahead of anything that Liverpool could produce. Klopp’s team are expected to overload individual players through a lot of running and strong defensive awareness. When you have players like Lionel Messi and Thierry Henry that run past 2 or 3 players most days, the numbers game doesn’t really hold up. Add to that the greatest midfield trio of all time (Let’s be real, it’s not a debate) and the arguably greatest defensive midfielder as well as two of the best defenders ever. Let’s not forget Puyol was one of the best captains ever and Dani Alves is silverware-wise, the most decorated football in history. It would be a fuckin great match, though and a hell of a fight. But I do think that if every player on the pitch was their best self, Barcelona would eke out a victory. :)
