    Love the Fantom! Played one this weekend. All the new wave bands of the 80s played Rolands and they now tour with the Fantom including New Order and OMD. If only they made a smaller and less expensive model.

    Thank you for the video. Would you please be so kind enough as to consider doing a review of the Roland Fantom 2019? It's not just a workstation, but I believe a fully fledged synthesizer. To celebrate their 50th anniversary, they've added a new wavetable engine to the keyboard. I really like it. Thank you!

      If you've watched the video you certainly have seen that he showed the Fantom in connection with MainStage running on a Mac Book Pro. I'm surprised that so many people still use MainStage on stage although it's extremely outdated and hasn't received bigger feature updates for a very long time. I don't know anyone who tried the more modern and much more flexible GigPerformer or Camelot Pro and went back to MainStage again.

    • @yohaneswortham9056

      People use mainstage because it's only $30.. it doesnt really matter if something more advanced drops it's only $30.. that's only a dollar a day.. or less some months. 🤣🤣

    I downloaded the pdf manual from roland's website and It looks like I will keep my Fantom G8 because I don't use daw's as my main source of production & I like the sequencer & sampler on my G8 more than the new fantom it's clearly not designed for someone with my workflow, too bad I was ready to upgrade to a new roland with improved sounds but at this stage it doesn't look as if they put much effort into the sounds. Note to roland gives us some kick ass orchestra sounds with a focus on good strings and brass and don't forget to add french horn like you did on the brass expansion board for the Fantom G, then I will be more likely to plunk down another 3g's

    You mention the Fantom 8 has an all-metal casing. Does that include the underneath? I have a Fantom X 88 which is a great keyboard. Its upper casing is all metal, but the underneath is thick particleboard (chipboard) as you need a rigid structure to support the heavier piano-style keyboard. Only the Fantom X 76 & 61 were truly all-metal casing including metal baseboard.

    Thank you for the demonstration. I will be optimistic that it will integrate with PC ,window's DAW's in the future .I am reticent to get a Mac .I would like to hear a demonstration of strings .Especially string articulations .Like with NI session strings PRO 2 .I would also like to see semi , modular integration .Early days with this synth and I like it so far .Functionally it seems to strike the right chords for me .
    I quite like the chord function on the FA 06 .So much so that I that I printed from the parameter guide then scanned into the PC .After cutting to their different categories and enlarging them I printed the individual chord charts to A4 . Will a stylus work on the touch screen ?

    • @djRoyalTee
      @djRoyalTee Před 4 lety

      The Aria line is such a let down because of the lack of daw integration for PC users. If this is the same concept then it's just another missed opportunity.

    Nice demo, have watched others also, and have not seen any aftertouch demo'ed on the F8.
    I want to see the aftertouch used on the 88's instead of the pitch bender. Show me some aftertouch on pads & leads. Show me some velocity layers with light strings over hard brass.

    I bought it and guess what,... If the Yamaha Montage and the FA-06 got together and had a baby, it would be the new Fantom. The sampling features have been stripped away down to the bare minimum. So if you're into that, fine. But the Fantom G's are far more superior!

    • @Dickator007
      @Dickator007 Před 4 lety

      Not surprising they stripped away sample functionality since Roland always have a history of chopping stuff up and sticking it back together inways that do not superseed previous gear. Ashame really on the sample engine, I was. Considering getting the new fam. I guess I will stick with my superior Fantom G.

    V-Piano is nice. Scenes and clip based sequencer are nice. Analog filter and Zen-Core are all nice, but ..
    no multi-sampling, no linear sequencer with unlimited pattern lenght, no Supernatural, no ACB, ..
    I may replace my Fantom G with that, but only if all the features are there without a Mac. I don't need an overpriced master keyboard to control Logic.
    "They have not forgotten anything .." bland lie.
    This is an ad and not a review.

    • @pcuimac
      @pcuimac Před 5 lety +2

      DJ Jas I guess the product management had set a deadline for a sellable product and rushed it out the door. If it sells, they may add some things to it, but like with the FG only content like patches and drum loops, not major stuff like multi-sampling. If it doesn't sell enough until a certain date, they will drop it like the Fantom G.
      Everybody wanted ARX boards with VA or Strings .. nothing Drums, E-Piano, Brass .. end of line V1.5 .. dead

      I tried this out and the lack of decent acoustic instruments (other than V piano) is a complete joke. It includes old pcm samples only, no supernatural acoustic or VR organ modelling. This is pathetic for what is meant to be a complete workstation and not just a synth groovebox. The sequencer also seems more of a scratchpad than a proper standalone production tool. To say nothing has been left out is just dishonest at this stage - who knows if more acoustic sounds will eventually be added...I’d be worried based on the Roland track record.
