Check throttle trim setting on your transmitter, could be the reason for the runaway and for the lack of reverse. It should be set just to the point the car doesn't receive signal to move forward, and that should restore reverse as well. Love the videos man, especially your larger scale rc videos, keep up the good work!
Good thought but I did check the trim. The transmitter has an indicator that shows when it’s centered and I even tried biasing it towards reverse with no luck.
But when it ran away on me, the car was fully switched off and continued even after also switching off the transmitter. It was literally just sitting there…in the OFF position, and went full Christine! Then even when just plugging the battery in, transmitter still off and ESC switch still off, it went straight to full throttle. lol esc definitely at fault, but could have been damaged from the motor burning up and drawing higher amps than normal. HSP Rc's are pretty decent bashers for the price, i have four 1/10 scale XSTR buggies and 2 of their Nitro trucks

Very nice video man. I like the whole video and i like you wrote also the celsius and other funny details. You do very awesome content and your general style is cool. Also the critical descriptions of an rc car is important. The only i hate i rc cars nowdays, is that all the spur gears becomes bald very easily because they can't handle the 3s and 4s power. Also i am very impressed with the power of the servo. You don't see very often so strong servos in cheap rc cars. I wait to see this buggy on 3s at least and brushless. You are very cool man and very alive in your videos.

Maybe the 4000 will be enough with a big pinion. I’d like to hit 75mph but long empty streets aren’t very common around here lol

i had snow today so took my brand new ftx carnage brushless (came delivrd today) for drifting it was awsome
also my mini mjx mew4 monstertruck with paddle tires on 3s (with esc and motor from mjx 14210 yea i switched motors)

Once again, another awesome video. Ive been looking forward to seeing this one. That buggy looks like its a newer version of my Laegendary Sprint..it even has the same body. The Sprint really does handle well but the brushed system was too slow. It would've gotten ran over at the track I play at. I put in a 3660 4200kv motor and a tsky 120a esc and its a totally different beast now. Thanks again for making these videos.

lol man me too. I think this review pissed HSP off cuz they won’t answer me anymore. I feel my reviews were fair, but I can’t get an answer on parts availability or brushless version ETA. Asked probably 3 times.

The ESC might make a good tool for testing motors. Just add a battery and "on off" switch with no receiver or radio to mess with.
That’s a good idea! Just has to be brushed motors only. I need a brushless esc to do that too now 🤣

Yup I just watched his and he seems to share my same thoughts. It’s just a nice car! He also had a screw pull out of the rear bulkhead. I hate that weak point. Needs some reinforcement, which wouldn’t be too difficult to make.

It seemed to hold up for a while on 3s too bad the motor can't take it.
I started looking for one and ended up with a roller 94111 lol. Idk if that's any good (is super cheap) it's not very popular and looks kinda old school compared to the Vortex. I guess I'll find out.

I feel like HSP has positioned themselves a little higher on the totem pole. They do have a lot of bigger scale and nitro cars. But I don’t really know much about them. Hopefully the brushless units won’t be much more.

Very different to the old 94xxx buggies I've been looking at, but they lost the metal top deck that acts as a brace? hmm, I guess that chassis is tough then. The center shaft looks like the old model with a ton of play between the cups, so could take a bit of chassis flex. But on the old model you could pop the center shaft out by flexing the chassis without the top deck on. Does that happen on this?
that spur looks very like the old ones too, but that motor mount, that's an awesome upgrade. and those shocks

I don’t think the Hulk could flex this chassis. It would snap before much flex happened for sure.

The motor is what took out the ESC when it shorted. ESC is dead.
I think so too. As the motor started heating and seizing, it drew more amps would be my guess. Esc is certainly done.
I have the HSP Rally Kutiger Brushless. Just an amazing and tough, capable rally car. Check it!
The guards on the rear shocks loo more like junk retainers as they're facing the wrong way! lol (at 1:11) Looks like a lot of fun. Love when one can dedicate yard space to RC fun! Good to see your boy involved too, and not just driving them, working and learning about them as well. Good stuff! Would like to see the brushless conversion. I'd say you toasted that ESC. Oh well, that's part of the hobby, and a perfect excuse for UPGRADES! ;)

I addressed it as likely being small for 1/10, but buggies usually are smaller in their scale sizes.
