I think the show in a stupid way tried and failed to say that the threat was Dany not The Night King. So Jon did save Westeros and complete the prophecy. But poor writing just mucked it up.

It sounds like he just pronounced it more nasally - Vel-AIR-yon rather than Vel-ARR-yon. The show probably chose the second pronunciation to avoid confusion with Valyrians.
