    I'm really surprised that they did no rectification. sockets made without that are always too loose and don't weigh bear probably.

    I have a 3d printed socket that I use almost daily. I've had no issues and it makes a great water leg.

      @@furkanozer7191 you probably don't have the correct material. Mine was printed by a place that makes their own and they're melted into filament from beads. Most filament will break under the torque you'll put on them.

    when they do the scanning using the software, it is completely stupid because it doesn't take the pressure point into consideration while scanning the stump. if it uses the traditional casting taking and print it using the 3D printing technology then it would be make more sense. if you don't understand please check with prosthetist who is amputee. They know better.

    could just print with Polycarbonate its a load bearing material capable of 500ib tensile strength

  • @Arcticwhir
    @Arcticwhir Před 7 lety +5

    How about if they printed it at a 90 degree angle, like print the socket facing down. So the printing layers would be vertical. Would it still crack as easily...?

    • @JavierD
      @JavierD Před 6 lety +2

      It would require many support material and I think the socket experiment loads from all angles, so it would still be fragile, what I had found is a post-treatment like a resin bath to reinforce the socket layers
