AmputeeOT: How a test prosthetic socket is made.

Test, check, or temporary sockets: three different words to describe a temporary socket used to test and check a socket before a permanent or carbon fiber socket is made.
These plastic sockets can be sanded, or heated and remolded. After a temporary socket is exactly right (this can take MANY adjustments!) then a final socket is made of carbon fiber. #amputee #amputation #rehabilitation #occupationaltherapy #prosthetics #akamputee #bkamputee #disability #disabled #amputeewoman

I'm a fellow amputee and I'd love to actually work in the field one day and have actually helped in the making of a test socket for my BKA but mine is the right side. I watched a lot of your videos in 2018 when I first lost my foot and I share ur videos to others that have questions about the whole process

First they take a cast, then make a positive of your foot, and then get the foot ready by putting the leg part horizontal with the foot pointing down. If there are hinges, they tack the hinges to the mold or use dummy hinges to create a space for them. Then when the plastic is ready they stretch it over the mold and pinch it shut at the top of the foot and the shin area. When it cools, they cut it off, sand it down, add straps, and done!

Im sitting here wondering how I can rotate my left toe inward. Which of these hex key holes hold the solution? I wonder what they all do?
I suggest an "ABCs of the prosthetic leg" AK & BK maybe showing all of the new advances.

In a previous video, you said that over time, residual limbs shrink, do they shrink enough over time that you have to have an entirely new prosthetic? Or is it managed through socks and whatnot?

Does not seem worth the 24k [ Yes 24,000 dollars USD ] they are JACKING ME UP for a basic bka prosthesis! It's a RIP off I cant afford so i have to go around on as piss poor fitting leg prothetic. [ note Standard Prosthetics is not the company doing this!!! To me
