  • One common question I get from new amputees is "What will my final leg look like?" And it is important that the person wearing the prosthesis is part of that conversation. There are numerous choices when it comes to the look and cosmetics of a prosthesis. This video introduces some basic options. Let me know any additional questions you have!

    For my custom socket we used a Childs small t-shirt and it worked great. I wish I could post a picture of it here.

      Yes, a child's small shirt is a great option as well! Wish I could see it too, I love seeing people bring their individual style and interests to their prosthetic design!

    ????QUESTION???? What would be some of your favorite things to put on a prosthesis? How would you design a prosthesis?

      ‏‪2:36‬‏ Peace be upon you, I have had surgery for less than 15 days and now I am thinking of looking for something to do like you and I do not know anything about this.

    Когда перестанет болеть культя после ампутации?

      It's hard to tell when the limb will stop hurting after amputation. The prosthesis should not be causing direct pain. Everyone is different but some of the main things that have been shown to help pain in the limb: massaging, compression, and/or use of a prosthesis.

    What shiny materials are good for sockets? Chrome,Gold,silver, and brushed metal

      Most stretch fabrics would work as well, those tend to be used for dance costumes and are a little more shiny/flashy. Most places can also add glitter. I would talk to your prosthetist or their technician as well to see what they are comfortable with or what they have experience with. Often times they enjoy doing custom work and may have some other creative idea.

    what is the second leg in this video called ?
    can i get some more information on it please

    • @TheLegLady
      @TheLegLady  Před 2 lety +1

      The second leg in the video is our standard above knee prosthesis. The light tan portion is carbon fiber lamination with pigment added. The clearish/whitish piece inside is a flexible plastic type material. Below the top portion (the socket) you can see the top of the knee. The rest of the knee, the foot, and the pipe connecting the knee to the foot is covered by a hollow foam piece that is shaped to match the other leg.
