yoooo thats my mod!!! thank you so much for making a video on this, this is so awesome to see. the mod has some pretty bad flaws at the moment, and theres a few factors like tyre width and radius that i definitely still need to incorporate, but its a nice alpha so far :D
EDIT: Notes after watching the video:
- Tyre wear and thermals both need a major overhaul right now, I'm not yet happy with where they are at right now.
- Flat spotting would be super awesome to have, but I am not sure if I can add this without performance hits and a few other weird issues.
- I had no idea tyre wear doesn't actually give you that much less traction, oops. I only really started doing research specifically for this mod, so I'm very lacking on these things tbh.
- Offroad doesn't really work with this mod at all, although I am planning to have support in the long term as a friend gave me a ton of info on this stuff.
- Some information on how to read the UI should probably be added to the repo page :p

There is also a drafting mod made by the same person!! It adds wind physics to cars as expected and when you fly by something like a car, it will actually sway from the wind :)

Drifting with sport tires burns the heck out of the tires. It is sort of useful when you have a powerful car with more power than weight, since you can break in a set of tires that are a bit too grippy and have that perfect grip. You can absolutely tell when you're due a new set though.
yeah, I remember sports tyres would wear out super quick when I used to drift, compared to harder tyres

Just a tip when trying to get the percentage down, go into manual mode and shift up while doing a stand still, more wheel speed = quicker wearing
probably, but then we run into torque and heating issues more :/

I think that this mod should explode the tire when it hit 0%, or they start to have a chance to explode below an certain percent and that chance start to grow exponential until it hit 100% chance to explode at 0%

Can confirm IRL that if you do a burnout, the tires turn to goo! lol I had a 68 Mustang when I was a kid, it had a 351ci V8 in it with about 400hp. Bought the car for $100, put bunch of money in it, and sold when I went to college.
haha I had a volvo 740 16v and I'd do burnouts before drifting to get a better slide :P
When you're doing a burnout not only the tire heat up but the road too, maybe they forget that and the road cool down the tire and that's why it didn't heat up
I didnt forget that, it would just add some extra complexity and i want to make sure itll perform well
I think burnouts are only important for drag cars, but maybe they could just burnout for longer :P

From what I understand on tire wear on normal tires is it’s more like grip will slightly increase as tires wear, but get worse and worse performance in adverse conditions. But when it wears through the layer of rubber the treads are on then grip will get worse. I may be wrong but i think it’s like that
usually tyres have a uniform compound. When road tyres runs out of tread (if it magically wears evenly), you will have the same amount of grip, as the weight area is spread out more. There is a nominal increase though, but definitely not on wet roads or dirt.
all in all, in the dry, tyres stay very consistent until you hit the steel belting haha
making a tyre that drops off in traction takes a phenomenal amount of engineering of the manufacturing process!
@@fillman86Harder enduro slicks and DOT Semi Slicks behave more like this, the grip window isn't a peak and instead is more like a leveled curve.

I have good faith the new thermals over in the promised land will be nothing but spectacular (once it actually happens)
if they stop focusing on the wrong parts of off-roading, then I'm sure they would be able to do tyre thermals.... but because they're dawdling, this mod will fit :)
@@fillman86 to be fair off road in this game is very fun and is probably the best way of showing the damage physics but yes it is a shame alas I’ve been with this game since all vehicles sounded like trucks in a 1999 game so what’s a few more years eh

Don't higher temperature makes some tires more sticky (but also wear faster)?
to a certain point. All tyres have an optimal operating temperature, and if it's race tyres, they'll usually tell you what it is :)

I watched this mod tested by eeee 2 weeks ago. It's a nice mod but I saw from the start that it needs a few tweaks. It's not quite realistic. But I know they can make it really good. Gran Turismo level good.
