the drafting "area" is actually based on some math so its not just hardcoded to be a certain shape, but it generally follows a sort of triangle that gets wider the further from the car you are drafting, and the distance and such depend a lot on their frontal area, velocity, etc. glad to see you enjoyed this mod too :D
they're great mods, and will be going into my arsenal of mods I use for racing events!!
Hey, no matter how "basic", if it works well enough it's perfectly good. Not even Beam's amazing deformation model is safe from jank behaviour XD

Generation 2 stock cars(1967-1980), which this one is, were having a top speed of 280 kmh so this is historically right

Enable in gameplay options "Slow steering at speed" And make it so above 100 ish its at full affect, I race on wheel but when I did keyboard and controller this helped

but good point, i only changed the linearity all the way down to try to get it a bit more controllable

@@fillman86 there are even "advanced" mods for controller steering, but since my setup is permanent i just plug in the whel whenever and i just don't use it

I'm curious if it works like in real Nascar, how much distance you would get my pushing the first place guys bumper, usually they gain distance by doing that
bump drafting? I'm sure it works, but beammp desync is a real big problem :/

The first car I made for one your build and show streams was a modern stock car. I might make a new one soon
yeah, I'll be doing that at some point :)
this mod also has a blowback feature meaning if you fly past a lifted truck fast enough you could tip it over

I cant get multiplayer on my version of beamng drive (x86, 32bit, 0.23) unfortunately so i cant really get the full experience of the drafting mod with friends :/
Side note: i wonder if its possible to create a mod to bring the stambeco in to my version?

@@fillman86 well not exactly- i actually bought the game from Steam before i realized that my laptop doesnt support the current version so i went to the 0.23 beta version instead.

@@fillman86, yeah sorry, I wasn't specific, I can only get it via the Beamng mod site since I think it is removed from the repository.
There seem to be no guide for zip installation, so I was wondering if you might know how one would go about installing vehicle effect mods from the external party sources. I placed it under the general content folder, but I wanted to be sure.

though drafting is a term I've only heard americans use. That's not to say that all americans use it :)

like what does it do
'Slipstreaming' is an aerodynamic technique commonly used in racing, It occurs when an car is aligned behind another to gain extra speed. This is thanks to the car in the front punching a hole in the air for the car behind them and thus reducing the air resistance applied to the car behind.
if you're in america, you may call it "drafting"
it's basically the front car is punching a hole in the air, and the following then has less air drag
