First off… I’m a Big fan of your Channel, you Truly are an inspiration 💯!
I myself own a Ranger and it’s been a great Boat!
I’m not trying to be mean or anything like that but… TJ should have not touched the boat during this launch but instead been coaching you through it start to finish. I say this because if you are launching by yourself it’s important to go hands on everything right from the get go. Start a routine and repeat it every time you launch, it will eliminate errors and keep you safe. Also, pay attention to how far your trailer needs to go in the water to launch and load your boat and keep in mind all launches can have different inclines so finding the sweet spot for your trailer will make loading easier. I’ve made my mistakes with one very expensive one🫣
    Just trying to help
Best of luck to you! Hoping to meet you one day until then stay safe and Fish on!!👏🏻💪🏻

When I arrive at a ramp I have a procedure for prepping the boat to launch. I do it in the same order every time. Same goes for loading at the end of the day. I don’t let my friends help in any way, that will lead to errors like drain-plugs in live well drains…not the boat drain. Time to start taking the boat as much as you can. You’re gonna have to adjust all of your casting and fishing techniques. You’re gonna love a boat, you can bring all the crap you want lol.

Kristine, #1 thing you need to get is Bering Budies. They mount into your Axles on the outside. What they do is Automatically Grease your bearings on your trailer. Also get a lock for your spare or it will grow legs. Go kick some boys ass . God Bless

Bearing buddies are good, but they don't always push the grease thru to the inner bearings very well. Also alot of people over grease bearing buddies and blow out the inner seal which lets water inside leading to rust and catastrophic failure. Best to pull the bearings out once per year, clean or blow all the old grease out, inspect the rollers for rust or damage within the individual rollers in the bearing, and then manually re pack them before putting them back on. Can't tell you how many times I've had inner seals go bad, or found rust or damaged rollers. Good luck, be safe, kick some butt this season.

Great video and great boat. "You gotta" get a "ratchet-type" boat cover. They are super expensive, but you'll get away from all those straps flying around and possibly flapping against your boat. The ratchet-type covers are super snug and make your boat profile very streamline. They fold and roll away easily as well. Look up Dowco Marine.

    • @mexikanman

How to do it all solo:
You unclip the biggun up front, and unchain that, then you unstrap those two in the back, then the transom saver, install or check for plug, then the bunkies, turn the power on, turn on the master power, mount graphs, load my snacks, siggys, and wizzle, drop her down and climb the nose, park at the dock, run back to the truck and park the truck, tinkle or whatnot, and then you are off.

I bought my first bass boat back in 2017. I've always dreamed to have one, so I finally pulled the trigger for my 42nd birthday. Nothing flashy, just a 17ft aluminum Crestliner VT17. I love it! LOVE LOVE! ... The most intimidating part for me, still today, is solo unloading and solo loading. Get a routine so you follow the same steps time after time after time so you won't forget something. Always prep your boat away from the ramp. Here is my routine... Load your gear, get your buoys ready, get your PFD's ready, get your ropes ready, walk to the back, and verify the plug is in (also recommend having a spare on hand), release the back straps, and relieve the motor toter (supporter). Then I put the key in and turn the engine to "on", not cranking. I just want to hear the tone. The tone can tell you if you have a problem or not. Then turn the key back off. I pop open the gas and battery compartment and look for gas leaks in the hull. You may smell gas, but that's normal. Good to pop this open and let those fumes out if you do. I leave my front straps connected for now. I get my wheel chocks ready and easily to get to from the driver side of my truck. Harbor Freight has a great rubber one I recommend. Get one and a nice 3ft section of 3/4"-1" diameter rope tied to it. Makes it easy to lug around. Now, I'm finally ready to go to the ramp, and piss myself if it's a crowded one lol. Someone once gave me a great tip for backing down... Don't use reverse. Instead, put the truck in neutral and let the weight of the boat and trailer pull you down. If you put it in reverse, there's a chance you can panic and gas it. Instead, just have it in neutral and let it pull you down while you have your foot on the break. Once my rear wheels touch the water, I apply the e-break (while in neutral), then I put it in park. The parking break can hop out of gear, so don't trust it. I get out, tie my rope from my boat to the trailer (50ft rope) and I unhook the safety and winch strap. Now, back in the truck, I release the ebreak, back into neutral, and continue to back into the water just enough for the boat to rise and start to drift off. Once the boat is drifting, I start pulling up the ramp slightly. The rope will tighten and hold the boat from drifting away. I hold the break, apply the e-break, then put it in park and now get out of the truck, put my wheel chock under my rear wheel, disconnect the rope, jump in and dock the boat. Then I wipe the sweat off my for head and say a prayer "thank you God for helping me through this again. Please don't let anyone steal my truck. Please don't let my truck pop off gear and drift into the water". This is in my head as I hurry back to the truck to get it out of the way and parked. Have fun K!! I'm so excited to follow you on your new chapter! Go enjoy yourself and your new toys.

    • @pringals
      @pringals Před 3 měsíci

Something else I learned the frustrating way. If you try to start it, and it won't crank, odds are it's your safety switch. A duh moment we've all had once or twice. But there is another thing that ruined a trip for me. If it won't start, move the gear shifter to forward, to reverse, and then back to neutral. Now try starting it again. If it's in either gear, there's a safety thing that won't let it start. This happened to me once. Wasted an hour trying to get it started, checking fuses, gas lines, everything and finally gave up and ended up just running the trolling motor around the marina and nearby areas. When I got home, and started researching it online, I was tipped off to this gear issue, and sure as the day is long, it fixed my failure to start.

Never heard of leaving the cover on while trailering. Eventually it will rip.
Did you attach the kill switch?
I sit on a throw cushion to help see better under power.
You will want (required by BASS?) a better life jacket that has a collar to keep you face up if thrown and unconscious.

I'm excited for you. It's not exactly a whole new area for you. The level that you need to pay attention to and operate in is vastly different.
Much like driving a vehicle, driving a boat is done from a defensive position. The decision process is much easier because you're more aware of what's going on around you.
I can see you having so much fun with your boat. You will get to see the same water and shore line from a whole fresh perspective.
You've got this girl! Rock on.

I learned to back a bass boat for my dad before I had my drivers license. Yep it's way easier than a little kayak trailer. That short little kayak trailer likes to disappear and end up where it shouldn't. You'll be comfortable in that boat really fast.

LOL someone beat me to the hat. Can’t drive with one hand and hold a hat. Just turn it around or take it off or, like so many GoPros and landing nets, they will find the bottom!

Kristine first thing you need to learn take your hat off put your thumb through back of your hat and grab the wheel keeps your hat out of the drink she going to run a touch faster than your kayak role your cover from back to front when you go to put it back on its ready to put over trolling motor and run it to back not that I want to give you bad habits I have had bass boat since 1988 I have never unhooked boat from trailer at the water unhook at top unless you are on rollers or really steep landing I have never had my boat ever come off before hits the water that's on a glass boat I have never had aluminum as you keep using you will learn more what you are comfortable with
