Grow for yourself. If you can't, push for places where you can. There is no better weed than that which you've grown yourself. If you're not free to grow for yourself, it's not legal. Licensed growing is not legalization.

As someone who lives in Ohio, the reason it didn't get legalized is because of the way they tried to institute it. If I remember right, there were only going to be 4 authorized suppliers that were all tied together. Then it started getting spread around in the local media that it would essentially be a monopoly here, which pissed off a lot of people that wanted it legalized, but not legalized that way, so they voted against it.
Damn shame, too. It pretty much boiled down to the organization that pushed for the legalization wasn't doing it because it should be legal, but because they were just trying to make people that were already millionaires even richer.

Weed is called weed for a reason. It's a weed. This is not a manufactured product (like a car). In most places in the country, it can be grown at home. In my state, I can legally grow three plants in my back yard. Yet, somehow, this has still been turned into corporate profits and tax money.

i had a talk about Ohio's medical cannabis with a cannabis lobbyist and talk about this issue where there are only a couple of distributors. the reason for the 4 for right now is because of something with the high start up cost/ insurance, something like several millions, that no local business could be started up. Also with mini farmers, in Michigan, i dont know the process there but anyone living in Michigan can grow and sell their cannabis to a distributor. The problem with that according to the lobbyist was that it would be really hard to regulate that because you dont know what people are using to grow their pot. Thats why ohio doesnt allow people to grow their own cannabis. Its easier to regulate for the highest quality of pot if we farms are there.

Wait till it’s legalized federally. Big companies will start competing with one another and produce super cheap weed. Unless just one company monopolizes it. And once these companies start making big profits they’ll lobby to get taxes down and it’ll be treated just like alcohol. We’re having this problem because it’s only legal in some states and it’s in very early stages right now. I’d rather have expensive legal weed than saving money and having a fear of being arrested.

We need to just have the government subsidize the weed market, and reap the benefits by increasing the state tax. We should run it kind of like Utah’s liquor sales except this is America we’re capitalist we will allow competition, however, the state run dispensaries should be able to have a lower price due to higher taxes. The main reason to due this is to put less regulations on growing, therefore making it not cost $10,000 just to put in application to have a reasonable farm. Pot & hemp are cash crops we need to start up in the US, but the most important part is making sure local governments & Education get the majority of the profits for funding

This is completely incorrect. In all the places where they allowed high quantities of growers (Oregon), the prices have fallen through the floor and now they're all much more broke than when they started (because of all the investment costs). In Oregon, you can get a pound for ~$200, in CA, it would be $2,000. It's good for the consumers, but Mike is talking about the producers, and lowering limits actually fucks the producers more than it helps. Also, with more stores open, the best stores will eventually expand and take over all the other stores, just like with supermarkets. If it becomes federally legal, companies with DEEEEEEP pockets (Coke, Marlboro...) will simply come in and buy every single competitor, get all the licenses to themselves, and then run it like a conglomerate. If you want to get rid of the black market, the price will need to be driven down low enough to not make it worth it to try to grow unlicensed. There's a reason people don't bother making\selling moonshine, because it's much cheaper and easier to walk to the liquor and buy a bottle. Same thing will eventually happen to marijuana, and there's no way to stop it.

its a pricing out of poorer individuals. we think marijuana legalization is great and will give people a way out of poverty. in reality its big business where to get a growers license is upwards of 100k$ on top of the tax revenue and only local boards have final say on who gets the license. so those who are adversely effected by the war on drugs are exactly those who are priced out of competing with bigger companies/nonlocal organizations
