  • Dee Egginton, AKA Skateboard Dave, is a legend in the UK flyfishing scene. An open minded angler who enjoys fly fishing for anything that swims and has caught a shockingly wide variety of species on the method.
    This short film follows him on a stream near his hometown of Leicester where he demonstrates his unique and highly effective method for catching winter coarse fish on the fly.
    Thank you to composer Ross Tones (Throwing Snow) for kindly permitting the use of his tracks for the video.

    I love this. Out there doing it rather than sitting at home googling different rods and lines. Inspiring stuff!

    Having read Skateboard Dave's many interesting posts and articles on coarse fishing with a fly over the years, this was a treat and a half.

    Beautiful to see Dave! I've known Dave for many years and seen him make many a fly on the most random activies other than fly-fishing.
    Very knowledgable man and a dope guy!!
    I'm surprised he's not got his own channel.

      If you think this is beautiful using a feeder rod to flyfish in some shitty little river for small coarse fish, you need to get out more!

    Very interesting video. I'm increasingly interested in fly fishing for coarse fish and recently bought a 10ft aftm 2 for for this purpose. Downstream was something I'd not considered, but seeing your method and results makes me want to try this.

      He certainly is. As a mentor he’s taught me more in this last year than I’ve learned in my entire 15 year fishing career

    Another cracking vid ! interesting method, urban rivers in my parish tend to have a lot of underwater snags so it would need a bit of adaptation but worth a go ! what make is the sling pack by the way ? Cheers

    Why not using a strike indicator?

    Are there any specific flies that you would recommend, or does any nymphing pattern work?

    • @flyfishinglondoner
      @flyfishinglondoner  Před 2 lety +1

      Dave was using sz16 for the most part. One had a small section of squirmy material, which I use with grey dubbing, couple of turns of soft hackle at the collar behind bead.

    The longest cast I've made was with at 12 ft match rod and 8 weight line, 75ft no problem
