I use it when I make my southern greens. I combine it with collards, Swiss chard, mustards, and turnip greens. You can use all or just some of these greens. Boil smoked meat like ham hocks, smoked ham, or smoked turkey. Add onions and garlic while boiling. Salt and pepper to taste. Simmer 2 hours and serve.

Smoothie is the way to go. I am growing some Kale now and just go to the garden and pick a few young leaves and pop them in a blender with a banana and some coconut cream and wow good to go. I also add grass fed gelatin powder to make it creamy and add protein. Love it.

I absolutely love kale of all varieties. I use it in smoothies and juices. I love to make kale chips which are so delicious. I also top my homemade pizza with kale, I use kale in my buddha bowls and in soups and stews. I love to put a little finely chopped and toasted kale in my guacamole with hemp seeds and I love to mix kale in with my fried rice. There are really endless possibilities for kale and I love that they are so versatile.

I rip kale into small bite size pieces, add chick peas, orange cut into find bits, Fuji apples cut into chunks then topped with lemon tahini dressing and sometimes I throw in some caramelized onions and call it my "To good to be true SALAD" I eat kale several times a week since I live in a cooler climate where I'm able to grow many different varieties.

Or sauté onions, garlic, bacon in Goya red Sofrito and half to one packet of Goya Sazon depending on amount of kale. Add kale, scotch bonnet or habanero pepper and liquid and steam for a few minutes. I love it this way over brown rice.

Dani, It's so funny that you posted this kale video today because I had my first experience with kale today. My husband decided that he wanted to start juicing so he purchased a juicer and today we purchased lots of fruits and veggies including kale. He made a nice smoothie using a variety of fruits and veggies. As I was drinking it, I noticed a mild burning sensation in my throat, but I had no idea which ingredient was causing it. Since we had so much kale leftover, I made a kale salad for dinner. Once I started eating it, my throat was on fire! I looked online and found out that this does happen to some people when they eat RAW kale. Something to do with oxalates, whatever they are. So I'm going to try your recipe and see if it happens with cooked kale. Thanks!

I've always had a difficult time eating sauteed greens, I prefer them raw. However, I do find that a little bit of grated nutmeg in sauteed kale makes it more pleasant for me. Gives it a nice flavor. I also do a mix of finely copped kale, romaine hearts, and typically spring mix as my salad greens. It's a great combination.

omg I love it raw in a salad. It's got more bite/flavor than regular salad, plus who's going to complain about more kale (nutrition wise!) ... I'm the only one who eats it so I'm certainly not! So I do that, and even though i'm not a huge soup person, sometimes I like to sautee kale like you did here with some garlic and if I have it, some fresh chopped ginger and mix with with pasta. I'm all for more recipes (preferrably not soup) using kale!! I like kale chips too!

After you have chopped your kale as in the video put it in a salad bowl then drizzle your favorite oil dressing, add maybe a splash of soy sauce if using plain oil - then just spread on a tray and place in a pre heated oven for approx. 5-7 minutes until the leaves are on the cusp of going brown. Most of the moisture will have evaporated out and you will have semi crispy kale flavoured how you like it. Good one for getting the kids to eat their greens.

Just a tip: my doctor said it is not a good idea to leave your kale already chopped because it will loose a lot of its nutrients and will oxide. The best thing is to leave it simply washed and cut it when you are about to use it. The same goes to lime, lemons or any citrus: the first thing to go away is the vitamin C, because it is there to protect the other vitamins in the fruits. Great video, Dani! Kale is definitely on my top 3 favorite foods ever!

My customer looked at me like I was forgetting something. I went thru the order again and this elderly gentleman goes, straight faced, "BOOP." My total is ___, BOOP." As my mama would say, "I liked ta died!" I cracked up. Just totally lost it. And when I started laughing he started laughing...apparently my witchy cackle is irresistible. That's funny to my tastebuds the dinosaur kale is the least mild and tender- it has a very strong and somewhat bitter/earthy taste to me. I find curly green or Russian kale to be more mild, but I do tend to only use the younger/smaller leaves so that might be part of it. I like the purple kale a lot too- it has almost a floral aroma and even a slightly sweeter taste :)

I like the stems pickled and put them in my tuna salad and anything else that I would put chopped pickles/relish or celery in. My dogs absolutely love them as well! Cheap and healthy treats.
