    Great topic. Always a good idea to weight your tongue. I have a tongue scale that you lower your tongue down onto. I just use a floor jack on some wood and it works great (wheels chocked of course). I don't have a choice but to load my Polaris RZR XP4 in forward so a lot of weight is in the back. I shift as much junk as I can to the front and I still can only obtain between 10-11% tongue weight. No sway at all though. I know most people don't check this stuff so I'm glad you posted this. Stay safe brother.

      Jason Kubitz yea I used to have one of those tongue weight scales like that. And I didn’t use it near as much as i should have! It’s great information to know! Appreciate the comment. Have a bad ass day! 🇺🇸

    Great video and review.. I have a f250 leveled with 37s as well.. I was about to order a 6 inch drop. But I'm glad I saw your video first. Looks like I'll really need the 8 inch

    Like your airline luggage weight you need to check with your scale before check-in. Trailer tow weight the same. You need to know before you it the road. I use 2. One for loading and my favorite one for driving.

    Great video,
    I just was about to buy a bulletproof hitch but the con was weight and total size for a 8 inch it's 16 inches total and nearly 40lbs powder coat will come off also 330$ and I'd need to buy 2 locking hitch pins to keep it from being stolen.
    The b&w looked like it ate towing numbers because it was a 7 or 9 inch drop also 300ish and ill never stow it because it's not my shins it's my thigh or balls on a 6 inch lifted ram on 35s also needing a locking hitch pin and Chevy and Ford owners need the antitheft plate also.
    The weigh safe had 10% off and got it for 270$ for the 8 inch couldn't pass it up and the hitch is steel powder coated but stainless steel balls which won't rust...plus the added safety of nowing the 10 to 15%
    Along with the fact it has a locking pin included so you just need one instead of 2. I've just always played with a level trailer won't sit level. If tongue weight is wack it will be pitched forward if it's to far back it will be pitched up.

    I noticed you have used all three hitches I've been considering, the B&W, Bulletproof and Weigh Safe. Which one do you prefer and why? Thanks

    • @COLTSWAY
      @COLTSWAY  Před 4 lety +5

      Benjamin Zuerner i like the weigh safe and B&W the best. Prob weigh safe then B&W then Bulletproof. Weigh safe does exactly like the b&w will do. You can store it just the same. Plus it has a scale which is helpful. B&W is a solid hitch, nothing wrong with it....another reason but it will be way to weird for most...the weigh safe has more black on it, I hate chrome and even the ball is a dull color it’s not chrome. Im doing a all black theme on the truck. The Bulletproof was perfect Cause it was all black, but it was massive and had WAY to much slop. Every bump you hit I could hear it. Was terrible. Go @weighsafe and you won’t regret it. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe. 🇺🇸

    @BBQBOY76 Před 3 lety

    So, you’ve had B&W, Bullet Proof and now Weigh Safe. For a 2” lifted 350 and towing no more than 16k lbs, but typically 7k...which would you chose. Don’t take into account your garage clearance issues with your Bullet Proof.

    • @COLTSWAY
      @COLTSWAY  Před 3 lety

      I like weigh safe and b&w. The bucket proof was a rattle monster. It was loud as hell. But if I was to get another one one day I’d get the Gen-Y hitch. 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸

  • @StinkyTeal
    @StinkyTeal Před 3 lety +1

    I know you said you prefer steel over aluminum BUT only the Aluminum weigh safe hitches are made in America. Also you can only get 3" shaft in Aluminum which is rated for 21k# vs 18.5k# 2.5" steel. Aluminum wins in every way. Buying a steel weigh safe only helps the china man.

    • @COLTSWAY
      @COLTSWAY  Před 3 lety

      All of that is true. But I only have a 2.5 receiver, not a 3 so it wouldn’t fit anyway. To be honest I hate the color it is, if they would powdercoat it black then I’d of prob got one. Every single thing on my truck is black. My hitch still looks brand new. My buddies alluminum looks like total shit. But I agree. F China.🇺🇸

    I have used these hitches for over 5 years and and now moving away from them, if you load a trailer regularly you really know when it's close, had one scale fail, pricey and I just don't see the need.

    • @COLTSWAY
      @COLTSWAY  Před 3 lety

    what up colt? Quick question...looking to ditch the equalizer wdh setup, probably overkill with my new f250 and size of trailer. Torn between the weigh safe and b/w stow. I know you have reviewed both....so which one you like better?

    • @COLTSWAY
      @COLTSWAY  Před 3 lety

      Man it’s hard to tell.....I’ve never had a problem with either one. One thing about the B&w is if you don’t get pins with locks they can get snagged off in high grass or like off road going over sticks and stuff. But if you put a lock on it it can’t. They both awesome. No cons really. I’m actually about to sell my weighsafe and get a gen-y hitch. 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸

    Any issues with rust? I saw a review on Amazon about rust on the steel drop after 2 months.

    • @COLTSWAY
      @COLTSWAY  Před 4 lety +1

      I haven’t had any issues. If you send me hour email, I can take some pics of it and show you. It may get some in the future in rough spots where it hits metal in the hitch but any hitch will do that. And aluminum after awhile will oxidize I’m the spots a steel would rust. But shoot me your email and I’ll send you some pics. Thanks for watching, please like and subscribe! 🇺🇸

    I also have several Weigh Safe hitches. They do not stand behind their
    products or the engineering of them. Sad, because this could be a great
    product. I contacted them in regard to a 3 year old product, and they
    told me that they don't support it. WHAT????? Would not recommend to
    anyone !!!
