Both have a unique sound which makes them great, and I love them both
Metallica has an incredibly melodic sound though. They have heavier riffs too.
@@ChipmunkAsylum I would say their riffs are more distorted rather than actually heavier. Both bands go hard but maiden uses nowhere near as much distortion on their guitars. All comes down to whether you prefer the chunkiness of a lot of distortion or a cleaner sound.
I love both bands FYI but am slightly biased towards maiden simply by being British
@@EelofTheTRIMS honestly Maiden songs are not super riff oriented. The only super chunky riff i can think of from them is 2 Minutes to Midnight. For example Fear of the Dark and The Trooper have iconic riffs, but they’re more because of melody and not the driving rhythm like Metallica does (Enter Sandman, Master of Puppets, Creeping Death, Four Horsemen, Sad But True, etc.)

I couldnt make a decision, and then, he started playing Harvester of sorrow, and everything was clear, plus, I like my metal heavy and kind of dark, and Iron maiden songs, most of them are in a mayor key and sound Like a happy tune.

I like Iron Maiden a lot more! Quality Power Metal, has a lot of melodies, is very melodic, striking choruses, surreal solos, drums full of details, bass that is present and still makes solos, not to mention the vocal, Bruce is Bruce, no more words! Up The Irons!

Not a musician here, but is the difference more chord based riffs from Metallica versus single note/melodic based riffs from Maiden?

The difference is huge! Metallica is a C grade, and Iron Maiden is a Mozart or Vivaldi)
Those are not just a chorus effect from Maiden. That is multiple guitars rocking at the exact same time. Virtuoso is an understatement.

Up the Irons! I respect Metallica but for the life of me I never really could get into them properly. Sure they've had memorable songs, riffs and solos but there's something about them that I can't seem to sit through an album.
Haha I'm actually the same way, but reversed. Maiden is absolutely brilliant and I love a few of their songs but I can't really get into them. I find their tone a little too theatrical for my taste, and honestly I don't enjoy Bruce's high pitch vocals despite his skill as a vocalist.
