The guitar work Brian May did for Queen and Queen II albums with his guitar in terms of melodies, technichs and sound was awesome. Very few guitar players could do it at that time of that period of 1973 -1974.

Queen has always been cited as one of GNR's biggest influences. Both Axl AND Slash performed at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert back in 1992. Slash has said that part of his guitar tone is based on Brian's at the end of We Will Rock You.

well the idea was more queen vs gnr so it felt hard to leave out another one bites the dust since it's a killer queen hit..turned out to be a more brian vs slash thing...hard to please everyone with only 5 riffs each

They’re legends both of them!
Fact is that in general who comes after is inspired by who came first and brings something new as music is a continuous evolving thing…
The first may then be inspired by the second as he wants his music to take an new direction.
Jeff Beck is an enormous influence for a lot of great guitarists and his music keeps on evolving as he takes attention to what new is happening…
We can see nowadays kids doing for example an Eddie Van Halen solo so easily (thanks to modern tools) that it looks such a natural thing to them, while back in the years EDV has been THE reference (at least for tapping technique) during a period… but Brian May had tried it (not to that point of complexity) on the song « It’s late » a few years before, himself being inspired by an anonymous guy playing that way in a bar during a Queen US tour in the ‘70s.
All of them great guitarists have a genuine respect for each other…
Steve Vai once said : « there are a lot of very good guitarists… what’s important is what they bring that wasn’t there « (in that interview from the end of the ‘90 he said that the last one at that time who had brought something new was Tom Morello from Rage against the machine).
This is why you can be the fastest shredder who impresses everyone around the place for your technical skills and never become a legend as you are one among many others..
So, back to my first line in this comment : music is not a competition, it’s an emotional thing to enjoy. Say « I prefer ., », not « Mr A is better that Mr B ».

Freddie wrote the Ogre Battle riff, actually it was John Deacon who played most of the guitar on Another One Bites The Dust. There are many other songs like Brighton Rock, It's Late, Tie Your Mother Down, One Vision, Killer Queen, Princes Of The Universe. There are other hit songs from them with better riffs, Brian din't even like Don't Stop Me Now.

I, personally, think it sounds good on both bass and electric guitar. To me, it's satisying to hear.😌 Just goes to show that Deacy(John Deacon, for those who are unaware of the nickname. Lol) did a great job writing it!😁

You must be kidding if you think Slash is anywhere on the same league of Brian May? Seriously? Almost all of our fellow guitarists can sound just like Slash. No one sound like May, even the copies of red special doesn't sound like his. Steve Vai himself admitted that he can't emulate May. Plus no critic places Slash in the top 50 in a list of greatest guitarist.

I really believe the best Brian May Riffs are from unknown songs. In this vídeo there are some Solos, not necessary Riffs from Brian May. But we gotta be honest, both are sweet musicians who print iconic melodies to bring the best emotion to their songs in their bands. The only difference is that one is pure cool Rock N' Roll (Slash) and the other one is an excellent versatile Style for Rock/pop and whatever music Queen has made. Hahahahaha. Both my favourites and definitly idols. I prefer Slash, but just for a matter of taste.
