I feel like modern isn't exactly the best word for most of the modern riffs played here. It's more like 40 years ago vs 20.
Modern doesn't mean new.. modern art was made in the 1920s for example... WWI is modern warfare even though most tactics and weapons from that war are obsolete.. modern simply means differing from a classically accepted style, a new start if you will
@@myfaceismyshield5963 though ironically, new would be there better term for most of those, or nu... But trulu modern metal has transformed a lot since what they are referring to as modern, so even by that standard it isn't modern anymore.
Yeah rock and roll fans just have not evolved they are stuck in the past. Whereas other genres moved on and became popular like rap and hip hop and EDM now.

Classic metal are incredible, but I really love modern metal (Avenged sevenfold and disturbed are two of my favorites bands) so for me it's impossible to choose one🤘🤘

Looks like your "new metal" is literally 'nu metal', a7x maaaaybe being an exception. Which it's just about dead these days with a couple of big name bands from the early 2000s trying to capitalize on the former glory. There are tons of new bands out there that play actual metal from doom to folk to old school death to tech death etc etc.
