Oh my goodness I can’t wait to see how all of your plants do!! I love delphinium but have never been able to grow it! I have tried many, many times over the years…. in different kinds of soil, with fertilizer, without, watering diligently, raised beds…. ahhhh it’s just never taken! So I want to see what tricks you have to make them work darn it!! 😁❤️ Your farm is just so beautiful!!

I have been propagating my sedums for a few years now.. Have amassed a massive collection. Every single clipping can be a propagation., even a single leaf will sprout a baby sedum. I started with one plant and have thousands now.
When your Peonies and Delphiniums mature, your farm is surely going to be spectacular!

Delphineums, one of my all time favorites! You bet I would be immediately drawn to them in a bouquet! Great move guys!
I live in basically the same climate in central WA and my delphiniums do great. I just divided one plant and got 17 babies!

I wish I had the patience to plant perennials in my backyard. I see seeds for gorgeous flowers, but when it says 365+ days to bloom, I immediately put it back because I don't want to wait that long 😅
You can do it much faster with the magic of transplants and bareroot plants! It's totally worth it imo. Just get one really nice plant every year and before you know it your garden will have a beautiful bounty of lovely low-maintenance perennials!

You could make a sort of wicking bed for the thirstier flowers. Dig down about a foot, put in a layer of something water resistant and fill back with the soil you removed. Plant as usual. Makes for longer hydration in your otherwise super draining substrata.

I once had a bouquet with some mint in it and it is one of the favourite ones I ever had. It smelled *so* good.

I'm always checking my vegetable seedlings when they are super tiny and enjoy watching them grow. I don't get the same joy looking at half germinated trays of flowers with all the time and money invested. Good call on the plugs!
Slugs love delphinium. If you have slugs too, organic slug pellets work well for me
That yarrow plant reminds me of the pearle yarrow…the greenery!
sedum autum joy is just awesome how it grows in a ball. i propagate and have them around my property.

Oooooh delphiniums are one of my favorites! Give me those with ranunculus, and peonies all in the pale blush colors with a lovely mist of plumosa fern around the bottom. Have you grown plumosa fern? It’s such a lovely whispy greenery. I’m sure you could easily sell it to florists in bundles. I think it is especially pretty in wedding arrangements. Can’t wait to see your gardens this year! I’ve made the switch to mostly all perennials in my front flower garden. So far I’ve planted 3 peonies, lupines, irises, rose marvel salvia, and clematis. There will be a few annuals for some pops of color. My lupines are just stunning. Irises in full bloom and my peonies all bloomed open yesterday. 🌸🌸🌸🌸❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Serina, you know it's not safe for you to look at catalogs! That sedum looks beautiful. I'm really enjoying your videos. Edited to add, I planted 3 mint plants in a previous home. It went crazy. I dug it out . . . or so I thought. I had mint the next season. Dug it out. Had mint the next season. Then I moved, so I don't know. Tilling it up will make it spread more. I do hope you looked into growing Kniphofia - Red Hot Pokers. They would be great in your climate, perennial, and gorgeous spikes in the yellow/orange/red family of colors.
I have sedums that usually produce closer to 20 stems per plant!! One of my favorite plants! Super Drought tolerant and beautiful
Hi Serina, so nice to see you back again! I LOVE Delphimiums! They create quite a punch in a bouquet. I too love the blue ones. I am just a flower grower because I love them. Daisies are pretty easy to grow. They also spread pretty quickly. I do not think they have a very good vase life though. Maybe these are a little different.
I am in ON. You will want to plant those Delphiniums soon. They grow well with cool weather. We are suddenly hot here too, but our nights are cool. They also flower maybe end of June and into July. Can't remember exactly.

I’ve been growing the peter cottontail and also ptarmica “pearl” which is extremely similar. I have found them to be equally hardy and easy and drought tolerant as any other yarrow and it also reseeds and expands. I love it!
I have some of The Pearl growing band had been wondering if Peter Cottontail was an improved hybrid or just a rebranding

Mine is called Pearl yarrow and I love it. It's a nice baby's breath type filler, constant producer. But it does spread. Not real bad so far though. You'll love it.
I love delphiniums!
I have delphiniums in my yard in the PNW, they come back as perennials for me. Mine usually bloom in early summer before it gets too hot then I might get a side shoot during summer. Maybe try experimenting with some in cooler areas of your property.
Love the plant tours! Can you put pictures of the flowers on screen next time so we can see what they look like? (Love seedlings, but they are just a lot of green leaves right now lol)
Sedum propagates super easy via cuttings unless you got 3 different types....
I live in dry windswept southern Alberta and learned that delphineums thrived in compost and the tall varieties MUST BE STAKED. I'm really interested to watch how your experiments unfold. I know you'll put in the hard work, but good luck anyway.
most of those perennials are super easy to do cuttings of especially the sedum. Lisianthus is definitely worth getting plugs of as the seeds are pricey and a pain to sow successfully
Always waiting when you cut that flowers and make a bouquet. Then sell sell sell...
Looked up growing delphiniums and you may have problems with the soil moisture and heat. They're gorgeous, some are actually quite short, others up to 6 feet (2 m.) in height.
The sedums should be one of the better choices for your soil and climate. If I remember correctly, the soil in the Okanagan is clay so the sedums should be fine.
I hope you get the best performance from this year's buy.
I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but on Oriental poppies when they just start to bloom out if you scorch the bottom, unlike a burner like a hot plate, then the tail fly for the last much longer

Do you think you could plant your seedum in different areas of the farm to kind of get different seasons out of the sedum? Could that work?

As a flower farmer, I dont get the request for sedum. 🤷♀️. It grows really well for me but not for profit.

I got my hands on shasta daisies (i think) last summer and the smell was terrible, which is a crying shame because the flowers are really impressive.

The only success I've had from delphiniums is growing them from seed, or in you case, plugs & seed. I have found that trying to transplant mature delphiniums from the local nursery just does not work. It's year 3 and the perennial plants I started from seed are getting bigger & better every year (sowed both Magic Fountain & Pacific Giants varieties). Love that you are investing in perennials; your peony field alone will pay for itself in no time. Do you have a hydrangea field? or is that next on the list? Love watching your journey, wishing you the best season yet.
Are delphiniums long lived perennials? I bought seeds for both, but never planted them. How do they differ?
@@lisagee2789 am not sure I understand your question. Delphiniums are hardy in zones 3-7. I have found that growing them from seed and establishing them in the garden when they are seedlings produces the best, most established plant in that area. In years past, nursery purchased mature plants in the same area failed, and at a great expense compared to growing them from seed myself. Hope my answer helped. Cheers!

@@lisagee2789 excellent question. I am on year 3 with my delphiniums and they are sending up sturdy stems with lots of buds. However, understanding that they are a short lived perennial (2-3yrs), will have to see what happens next year. Should probably sow some new seeds for 2025. Because they are a short lived perennial, this probably explains why the mature plants we purchase at the garden center don't thrive in our gardens for more than one season. Still learning & experimenting. 🙂

@@GardeningAddiction I truly miss their videos! I can still hear Ian’s voice stretching out the opening. I’m going to have to watch this again but I don’t think it’s there. She is looking good. I know these videos was a huge source of income for them and they were really starting to take off.
