- Over the last year or so I've noticed a steady stream of people (especially on Reddit) describing various ways in which their accounts have been hacked. Sometimes they've managed to regain control, sometimes they've lost access to their account altogether.
After another youtuber (SideStrafe) was hacked I decided it was way past time that I informed my viewers about the danger and tell you how you can secure your accounts.

In fact, shortly after the release of this video and the reddit conversation, Gaijin implemented several needed improvements to their security making it much harder for hackers. The recommendations in this video are still worth following however.

Just so you know, the main reason I decided to update & re-post this video was the password cartoon I included in the previous vid, which could have had the side effect of encouraging people to use words from the dictionary in their password - and that would have been disastrous. Also, Gaijin's CEO has entered the discussion (over on Reddit) and already there are steps being made to help tighten up security from their end, but keep in mind that the security of our accounts remains our own responsibility - Gaijin can't protect someone who uses "password" as their password, and doesn't bother with 2 step authentication.

I like phrases that use a Cap, special character, numbers, letters and is 15 or more characters long. For example; Myextension#is6489 This is not overkill or random and easy to remember.

i used to play warthunder on my old ps4 but now i wanted to sign in on my pc (or assistant app) but i cant because i need an authentication code. plus when i use the code it says its wrong.

You might want to give a warning about Goggle Authenticator,... that being you have about 2 seconds to write down your code before it switches on the screen. My code switched before I could write it down and now I'm locked out of my account. I was better off without the back up. I'll have to send Gaijin support, except I can't due to it needing my Google Authenticator to log in!
Hmm, that's not how the authenticator works for me. After a code expires it immediately produces a new one, and I have 20 seconds or so to enter it before it expires, etc. Even though I've occasionally been too slow to type it in, I've never been locked out so I'm not sure how that happened for you.
long5hot Gaijin wants me to show them a screenshot of invoice transactions. Unfortunately I didn't keep my emails. I did send them a list of my bank transaction dates and the amount spent in my currency,... I'll see if that's enough to unlock my account.
Quick update, got the issue resolved, seemed to be a timing sync issue. It's working well now. Thanks Long5hot.

I think under certain circumstances they now allow email changes. You'll need to contact their support team.
No, they do not. I have entered a wrong email, now they don't even want to change it.
