Hey I'm having a ton of trouble here,can't recover my Gmail .when I try login it says no account but when I try to create a new one using my email it say already exists? I'm lost won't send me a text on my phone and that number is tied to that Gmail that I had for a year. There should be a way to sand box the 2fa in a different session and all emails should have dkim any that don't should be automatically flags as spam.

Don't click on links in emails claiming to be from Google.
If you are ever asked for your password or to sign in to something, it's 99.99% probably a scam. But if you still must, don't click on the link. Go to the institution's website directly. Type in the URL, preferably in a different browser or, better yet, a different device. Check that the certificate is valid (left side of address bar). Or just call that institution instead.
Even better: have a separate computer where you only go to your bank, broker etc. websites, and never use that computer for anything else (and never use another device for these sites, and never share anything from other devices to this computer). Put all security settings on high.

What has been left out is the url in the browser of the site that has been opened from the email. If you aren't paying attention to where you are being sent, then you can easily be directed to wherever the hacker wants you to go. I take this one step further and mouse over the email link and look where it is going to send me. The path in the link can tell you a lot.
So, the there was no hacking or "bypass"; the luser just offered up his details.

Social media accounts recovery in general seems like a mole to *coherent recovery* . Although this video was a little helpful but didn’t work. Their name is spelt as *coherent recovery* & are committed to getting lost accounts back.
I think the problem here is not the 2FA but rather the user himself not paying attention to :
1. The URL of the sites you access and ask for your password
2. The email sending you the "security alert."
Simple things like this can save you, or ruin your account if not paid attention
When you are dealing with very old people the trick is saying: NEVER PUT YOUR CREDENTIALS IF AN E-MAIL ASKS YOU TO, only if the site with a legit URL itself says so. That's what i did with my old relatives and still no attacks thankfully
Tbh some of them are really clever. One recent with steam imitated a new popup window looking exactly like your native browser with the real address (the popup was for sso). If you didn't try to drag the window outside of your browser, you couldn't tell at all it was fake.
@@UnknownString88 The trick is using the program or legit site manually or, in the case of the bank or cards, calling them directly.
Yeah ultimately a trick like this will work even with a 2FA app or clicking a button that pops up on your phone.
The main thing here is the attacker is time limited.. So they can't just have a normal phishing site that just scoops up credentials for later.
An attacker could even have a site that provides a small remote desktop viewport aimed at the attacker's own web browser showing a Google login page, and track a user into logging in for the attacker.
The best defense is to use your web browser's built in tools:
1. Verify the URL on the address bar and that the green lock with optional org name matches what you expect to see.
2. Verify that address bar is REAL and not a fake popup window that is part of the HTML page (so they can put whatever URL or green lock they want. I find the best way to do this is to customize your browser theme and OS color scheme away from their defaults; the fake window will most likely get the appearance wrong. Of course, the "window" also won't leave the
3. Verify the login is working as expected. For example the "popup window" may not be expected as you may expect a OAuth prompt with an Authorize button that takes you back to the original site.
4. If you expect to be logged in already, be suspicious of a login prompt.
5. Use your browser's password autofill. If autofill suddenly stops working for a site it used to work on, it's a good chance it's not the real site. Check it!
6. When in doubt access the actual site you are trying to log into using the official URL or a Google search rather than trusting the email or whatever tried to drive you to the site. If you had a legit notice of something you need to resolve on the site, you can look on the site itself directly, or contact their support and ask them to confirm there is a problem with your account.
7. If you go to a site which requires you to log in using another service (like Google) to perform some action you were asked to do, if the site seems to allow you ro register a new account with them instead, you may want to just go that route. If there is a login form for these types of accounts but creating a new account ONLY allows you to do so via Google or whatever, be suspicious (it is possible it's legitimate though).
A password manager would help to not allow this kind of a attack, since the password manager would realize that the URL was not the correct one. It would at least give you a heads up that the page might not be secure.
