I have the NHK IV plus and the output is pretty good. I was mad when I First got them because the cut off was not straight and sharp like the first one you showed. But it was because I was pointing it too close to the wall, at a distance it gets very sharp and colorful like the one you modified. Can you show both at a bigger distance from the wall?
Good point but did not help. Tried them outside 50-100m, still blurry cut off, orange went away tho. But the main thing all in all it was worse performance than NHK G5 HID, both intensity and light fill. Now its far superior.
I think maybe the 4plus projector was recently updated by NHK or there are assembly issues of varying degree. Out of the box my projectors produced a really sharp blue/purple line like your modified unit the entire length of the cutoff. My set out of the box had some type of clear silicone o-rings as a spacer for the lens bolts. Maybe they watched your video :) The one area I was not happy with, was the right side. A bit past the step on the right side , the output got dimmer than it should and cutoff line briefly got a little messy. It didnt do that to the left of the step. My curiosity was piqued with your last video on these units, so I moved the low beam reflector bowl in the same you did, just less. More like 1-1.5 mm. That fixed the dim light in that specific area. It didnt fix the small messy area on the cutoff. My best guess is there is there is miniscule imperfection on the plastic cutoff shield or its a glare from the all chrome reflector bowl. Alot of OEM' s have a matte silver finish only in very specific areas of the reflector bowl not relevant to make the beam, to control glare. To round out the mods...I replaced those silicone o-rings with 1.2mm thick stainless washers, threw out the fans for Sunon's, replaced the heatsink compound with Dow Corning 340, and replaced ALL that cheap sketchy PCV wire with 22awg TXL. Given the amp draw of these units, the wire size was unnecessarily large. Chip quality being the question mark, these now have every reason in the world to a live long happy life. Thank you for the vids, anyone who buys these has something to learn from them.
Glad I was of help. Did you also shorten those screws on the LED modules? And as I forgot to mention, fan have to be put in reversed. So it sucks hot air out. Not to blow into the optic because dust is all present, over time it will blow good ammount of dust onto your lens.
@@iamBazzy Its this part number PF40281V1-000U-A99. But keep in mind you have to drop its supply voltage as it is much more powerful than original and its not necessary for it to blow that hard.

I just got my projectors. I did the mods you did. Seems like its a huge improvement. I didnt touch the fan though. Its very quiet and doesn't seem like it will move the heat out. Is it normal for them to put out a ton of heat about 3 inches in front of it? Mine almost burns your hand?
Not sure if you ever figured out that these are only unfocused when you are up close to a surface. So when you focus for a modded clear cutoff you diminished output and now at further distances the light cutoff will be unfocused and scatter more light. Making less of it useable for your eyes. I now have these installed in my Corolla and they look just like yours up close to my garage. When I back up about 30 feet or more it gets razor sharp and blue/purple go the entire cutoff. They’re supposed to be like that.
Yeah.. No. It was shitty like that even at 15m. Now it's nice and sharp no matter the distance, that is how projection with parabolic mirror works. I'm not sure what you mean by diminished output.

Zatial asi 60 000km prevazne v noci a nemozem sa stazovat. Porovnavat s akymikolvek xenonmi nema zmysel. Lepsie su uz len inteligentne LED svetla. Otazna je implementacia do W201, nieje to krycie sklo vrubkovane?
@@75L48 je vrubkovane. Ale daju sa zohnat cire z druhovyroby takze do nich by sa to dalo dorobit. Neviem ale ako dorobit nastavovanie vysky aby som to nespravil len na jednu polohu... Teraz este na to nemam cas ale dufam ze sa tam nejako bude dat dorobit aj to nastavovanie vysky.
@@ozyy190 No jednoznacne treba cire. Ten bod je taky intenzivny, ze na vrubkovanom skle by sa to stiepilo a oslepovalo. Nema W201 este podtlakove nastavovanie nivelacie svetiel?

Well not much to show, its simply held in by four screws and if you do it the simplest possible, then you just reconnect wires on the same color. Thats it.
@@75L48 also one more thing if you use water resistant silicone or headlight sealant in the hole where the wiring comes out from the gasket no dust should be able to get inside, blowing air is much better and efficient than sucking the air out from hot surface your leds will run hotter after that mode which is bad
@@sakibsarwat5064 nope, there is ALWAYS dust and it will get collected on the lens if blown into it. I have studied OEM LED headlights from Audi, VW, Skoda and BMW all of them suck air trough fins away from lens.
That's an amazing difference! I've currently got the nhk hid, how would you say they compare? you also mentioned that you can get just as good output with a different AliExpress projectors and modify them, would you say this is still true? That would save a lot of money. Also final question, how do you think the 2.5" version will compare to this 3" version? My headlight it pretty small and would possibly need some modification to fit the 3" version.
@@75L48 I just don't want to purchase something and it being really bad. Have you looked into any of the sinolyn bi led Lazer by any chance? I know a lot are gimmicky but wonder if these are the real deal or just an advertisement
@@benclimo461 Haven´t really examined any more of these. In the past NHK was of good quality so I placed my bets on it and... I might buy some of those cheap ones just to compare, but thats future.. too little time for that now.

@@iamBazzy Orignal was just stabilised to 12V with LM317 since input of that projector can be up to 16V.

you can contact the person you purchased from to ask for replacement. NHK provide 3years warranty replacement.

Yes, but in the headlight acrylic lens have little absorption so its fine, they wont get hot.

Well not much to show, its simply held in by four screws and if you do it the simplest possible, then you just reconnect wires on the same color. Thats it.

I havent tested any more of these but seeing whats inside, its pure chinese product so I bet those cheap ones are the same. Give it a try and report.
