I love ATSF 5021. Me and couple friends used to hang out on top of 5021's tender when it was sitting derelict by the Sacramento river about 10 years ago. It was a nice place to go and have an late evening picnic and watch the sun set in relative peace and just talk about anything.
I remember that Ross Rowland had considered restoring 2925 for the American Freedom Train. I can't but wonder that if since 5021 had been with 2925 in Belen, maybe she'd have been restored if 2925 was enough of an excursion success.
Wow, what a machine! Watching this historic footage is definitely like travelling back in time to the 1950s!
I never knew prr leased atsf engines like that!
So cool!
Love it! These were great and truly gigantic locomotives. Be neat to see more videos like this dedicated to a specific type. Pennsy J1 comes to mind
Good thing the locomotive on the video was preserved (at least on static display)...
Also, her name is Madame Queen
Santa Fe's Mighty 2-10-4s.
We need one more great steam hurrah. A beautiful, but demonic, 4-10-10-4 should be made to honour the age of steam rail. Of course, the behemoth will have to be articulared and run on both fuel oil and the souls of the damned.
Shouldn't be hard to find that kind of fuel nowadays.
wow thats fast
Is that the guy from distant signal?
Yes
How do you know the guy who shot those scenes?
How fast were the 2-10-4s?
70 mph
Isn't this distant signal?
Yes, it is Danny Harmon. He has narrated several of our videos.
