I failed my tribunal in Nov 2023 and got 0 points for both, I reapplied and was given 6 points for Daiy and 4 for Mobility even though I calculated it as 13 and 14, mandatory reconsideration is next since I recorded the assessment.
I was fortunate, in that my daughtet was in her teens when my CI hit hard, & I had a loving & supportive husbamd to take up the slack, but I'm so glad that you are able to reassure all those Mums who need it, Charlie! I'm in my 28th year of CI now, & so little has changed, in the attitudes towards those of us with CI, safly. So, to have this kind of help available, especially from someone in the same position as so many of us, is hugely important, especoally to tjose omly just starting their journey! Thank you for all you do, for those who need this kind of reassurance, Chatlie! 👍❤️
I cannot express enough about what Charlie says! YOUR form is IRRELEVANT but relevant however your assessment is the most valuable and important part of the process. You must be self aware and be able to explain how your difficulties affect you. Look at each one and its impact. I’ve supported my son, I put far too much irrelevant information on because I was overly honest but the assessment wow! I was unwell and accompanied my boy as his appropriate adult and let him speak for himself however I was unwell and couldn’t do much (myself a PIP claimant). Thankfully I asked for the notes from the assessment, what a crock of shit! I also. Ow have an early help support from Havering to help challenge and support my new review 😮 One thing I’ll say is, apparently our face to face was an online assessment wtf!

I had dla and now pip it is a mine field I have been disabled for over 26 years have just been reassess and now have been given it for 10 years either a light tech which was a wait of my mind I suffer from d d d and chronic pain 24 hours a day but the stress of waiting for an answer wish I had of found you before going through this form filling nightmare ........so thanks Charlie you are so amazing and wonderful xxxx
The situation I am in is a bit diffeent but I want to reassure anyone who is in my situation. My daughter is disabled, from birth, complex health and social care needs, she is now an adult. I am divorced and have chronic pain condition and I have been totally open about my needs etc and social services have been fantastic. We both live at home, we have carers in and I also get a cleaner and gardener so please don't panic, at no point has anyone said your daughter can't live with you anymore, tbh having us both in one house is probably easier lol. Plus with the divorce the house we live in had to be sold as obviously I can't get a mortgage but it was already adapted for my daughter. The council have a duty of care to vulnerable adults and bought my house and so we both have a suitable home safe from being evicted. Don't get me wrong at times it has been very stressful but social services aren't horrible people they are there to help and support you to be able to care for your child no matter the situation.
Hi Charlie after 6 years I'm getting a phone call on the 2nd of September. My question for you is how do I get them to expect that I have walking issues ie I'm always in pain walking . I have mental health issues. Regards
Go through all the videos related to where your day to day living is impacted in the functioning and mobility sections and think about where you fit using the descriptors and prepare for the assessment. Hope this helps.
