So much hate for social workers in the comments! I would be nothing without the social workers I had as a child and I’m so grateful they changed my life for the better and cared for me and my family. They really did what was best for me.

To be a Social Worker must surely be very rewarding. There is a deep sense of pride when a Social Worker is successful when dealing with clients, knowing they have helped and rectify a problem. This profession is a 'helping' profession and the ultimate goal is to ensure the client's problem is solved or the best outcome for all parties involved are achieved. Assessing a case from an objective eye gives all parties an opportunity to be heard and understood.

@@corruptionchildrenservices8919 Social work policies in the UK surrounding children actually push to keep the kids at home with their families. Even in cases where children are removed, the ultimate goal is to rehabilitate the parents in order for the children to be returned when the environment has improved. In some cases, like those involving babies, this isn't possible because the baby needs a loving and nurturing home and cannot afford to wait for their parents to get themselves together.

Good for you. If you want to help people, you can do so much with social work. You can do Child and family, mental health as a therapist (you'll need a clinical license though which requires a masters and 2 years of supervised practice), school social work, or macro social work which is more about community action, social justice advocacy, and social policy. You can also get a doctorate and teach or do research. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm working on my bachelors of social work now, and plan to get my masters.

I can see comments here both for and against Social Workers and the SW system. However, we now have seen, over the past 10-15 years, that Social Services are not fit for purpose....in fact, they are willing and active facilitators or child abuse, sexual abuse, rape and more.
I am convinced that most people wishing to pursue a career in this sector are going in with a pure motive and with good intent. The issue is their hierarchy - the managers and above, who are neck-deep into paedophilia and perversion. As with the children themselves, when they discover this, they have nowhere to go - nobody who will take note of their "whistle-blowing". Fearing for their job, career and even their life, they naturally shrink back into line. (I may well be the same, faced with those options, but I think I would be determined to do the right thing).
This whole production is a veil....a show which gives the message that Social Services are "guardian angels", who always act in the interest of the children they encounter. The truth is, in many cases, they are a willing cog in a production machine that supplies children to the lowest of the low in any society - the paedophiles and perverts.
To those who protest: Tameside = Manchester. Didn't the Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police have to grovel before TV cameras for the failings of his force, along with Social Services, regarding the mass rape, torture and abuse of young girls in that area?????????? Or did you conveniently forget????????? Don't be fooled by these "documentaries".
If you are on their side, you are against normal, decent humans. Choose your team!

If you don't agree with the social services they will take you to court and try to remove your children from you. I have experienced that myself. Luckily for my family, they have lost the case. Normally, they let down children who are in need and pick on good stable families.
