When you’re doing that with the top get your air blower and as you’re going in as you’re running the top in the porthole just blow it out occasionally the air going down the flu will help blow that debris out of there as you go and then I wouldn’t use any lubricant that way the whole remains dry and then you can blow it out better maybe use a little WD-40 after yeah or PB blaster I like that better and put that on the bolts as you tighten them in anyhow that helps this is six and a row jim from Kennerdell Pennsylvania
50/50 ATF and acetone on the bolts, take your time keep it moist too wet for a full day, so intermittently going back to the motor and applying the mix, lightly tap the bolts with a hammer, and I mean lightly tap, and those exhaust manifold bolts will come out the next day like they are brand new on a cold motor. I did this with my motorhome which had an 8.3 Cummins, from 1992, So at the time that I did this the coach was 20 years old with the original exhaust manifold which had shrunk and was leaking. Those bolts came out as if they were brand new not even a squeak
So would I just be able to reuse the old hardware if I clean all the threads up really well and the slots really well? Stupid Dps didn't send me the correct hardware only the correct gaskets. So I only have 4 of the 12 manifold bolts 2 of the correct studs for the turbo flange and a bunch of useless studs. Pisses me off a bit spend $400 for and can't even get the correct bolts and studs.
Alright I contacted dps anyway just to see if they'd respond and send me the correct hardware. I have a pretty large grade 8 hardware kit that I got a while ago so I could always just figure it out with them if things don't work out with the old hardware and if dps doesn't respond.
Clean all threads, no brainer. I plan on replacing exhaust manifold soon, also bolts, considering studs.
Great video : )

What turbo kit would you recommend for 1995 cummins?

yes you can but it does matter if the hardware is in good shop. for example in Wisconsin the bolts would most likely be too rusty to reuse
