I wouldn't be without my bench grinder with a wire wheel. It has been my primary restoration tool for many years, but the veg oil heat treat is a great tip! You'd better wash that cup out though before the Mrs. sees it!

Hi, yes it is all the tools that give you a good finish that any restorer needs and loves. My bench grinder is always in place with a multitude of different wheels to use. Yes hope she doesn't 'taste' any oil in it when I wash it and return it to the cupboard

Good tip, thanks! Is vegetable oil better to use than mineral oil, motor oil, etc? I don’t keep veg oil in my shop but do have the others.

Hi, I have only ever used veg oil for my 'blueing' jobs. But I suppose it could be possible with other types of oil. I am going to give it a try and see if there are any differences. I will keep you posted on how it goes.
