Old blue for the win! Absolutely love 1.3. Cheers for the awesome video.
I grew up on 1.3 Always thought of it as the ultimate UX. Clear, concise, intuitive and very no-nonse. It is a timeless UX. It ought to be further developed and brought up to modern day standards without loosing the original character.
What we need? Amiga love! When we need it? Now!
Thx mister Brenner ! It rocks!
Hah! Too funny. I knew you'd LOVE this software. It's so so so good.
Always a good time to watch your videos!
Thanks a ton, Texas Foosballer - I really appreciate that. Glad you enjoyed it!
This is like getting a bonus every time you turn on your Amiga
Wow, nice... :)
Love all of your videos, mate!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the kind words.
This is wonderful, and also crazy to think that nobody thought of this before. :)
Thanks for the info, going to check this out.
Some folks had thought of similar things, but always for 2.0+. So yes, I agree it's a tad crazy but in some ways a little understandable. I'm just glad Mr. Brenner has the talents to simply make whatever he needs at the time he thinks of it. I envy those skills! Thanks for watching - and have fun!
@@AmigaLove Well if Mr. Brenner really wants a challenge how about mounting NDOS/Trackloading Amiga disks from the hard drive and then booting them after a warm reset!!!! LOL......Love to know if that would be possible... but i doubt it due to lack of RAM?
@@rfxtuber Sadly, we lost Chris and his genius in September of 2022.
@@AmigaLove No way... Noo... So sorry to hear that AmigaLove... :( May i ask... did Chris create any other products for the Amiga... I would like to check them out.. I've just recently got back into my Amiga and been using disc mimic just yesterday....
@@rfxtuber He reverse engineered the Microbitics Starboard Stardrive, for Amiga 1000 computers. (I have 2 and I think less than half a dozen were made.) He also made a brand new modern 8MB Fast RAM side expansion for the Starboard. And, he was in the process of making something (I believe) mind-blowingly magical. But it wasn't finished. I hope to bring that project back to life later this year when I receive his original work Mac desktop machine. Fingers crossed...
Hats off! 🎩
keep that love flowin ....
A great tool presented in a nice video
Just WoW 🤟👍❤️…hats off to the developer (Chris Brenner)!!!
Thx for informing about this very usefull feature. ;)
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching, micha c.
Wooooow I Love IT ❤️ Soo Good Nice Job ❤️ This is Very cool! ❤️❤️❤️ AMIGA User ❤️❤️❤️
I had no idea that there was not already an ADF mounter for Amiga OS 1.3! I suppose they all were for 2.0 and above. Awesome that this one came out.
Yeah, all the previous versions were 2.0 and above. The one this one is based off of is indeed compatible with 1.3 but was entirely Shell-driven. Brenner really knocked this out of the park. I've seen some folks use it since release with 2.0+ (it works) but the UI colors are flipped, of course. Cool stuff! Thanks for watching, Doug.
@@AmigaLovedo you know if it works with Kik 3.1? Today I was struggling to install any software for mounting adf but all programs require something that my os don't have... It was a nightmare. This software is really awesome and that guy who wrote it rocks totally!😎
@@propinki I've been told it does indeed work with 3.1, but the user-interface colors will be inverted. It wasn't designed for 3.1's color palette but should function just fine. That's my understanding at least.
This is cool!
I know, right?! I just LOVE it! Makes some of our really old machines feel almost modern (gasp!). =)
Top notch video Eric! Ok so I am wondering if I could put disk 1 and 2 of TV Sportsfootball and play from hard drive.. Oh boy...
If the game supports a second drive - maybe? Give it a go!
Nice one. This only works for dos disks and not for non-dos or custom format disks, right?
Brenner gives instructions on how to accommodate non-dos disks that have had the copy protection removed as well as ffs disks.
AWESOME! And what software are you using to get the launchbar in the bottom of the workbench window?
Ah - that would be the original AmiDock. =) czcams.com/video/XuwdpR_G7-A/video.html
I create a lot of my own icons depending on the software I want to launch from down there. If you install AmiDock and want any of them I'm happy to send them your way.
Do you have experience with RAD: ? AmigaOS could mount disks to it under 1.3 in the 1980s. Transdisk and TransADF from the 1990s can load an ADF image to it, and so can the newer EasyADF.
Can Disk Mimic stay mounted to reboot track-loaded (but still AmigaDOS) disks? If not, there have been similar solutions all along. First step was the support by Commodore-Amiga themselves. :)
If it masks direct DFx access as DIx, I could see a use for the few games that could be HD installable (and support 1.3)!
Is there a version that can also run on os2.0?
It should work. It’ll just look a bit ugly.
I just installed disk mimic on my os 1.3 a500 but unfortunately i have a problem. When I mount my ADF file of choise, I see the floppy image on the right side of the screen so that's good. But when i doubleclick the floppy I do not see any icons IN this adf(in video 7min20sec). so i cannot start the game. Seems like the adf floppy is empty, but it is not empty at all. What is wrong here?
Hi Anthony - thanks for your comment. Can you let me know which ADF you're trying to load? I wonder if the ADF/game you've chosen requires to be in the drive when the system is booted (which Disk Mimic doesn't support at this time - unless there is enough demand). Can you let me know your game - and if it normally has to be in the drive on bootup to play?
You might want to contact the developer directly. I wonder if your installation skipped a file somewhere?
@@AmigaLove If I can find how to contact the developer i will do that. I just tried everything to solve this problem but still it doesn't work. I was using workbench 1.3.3 instead of 1.3 so I put wb 1.3 on the harddisk as a good change....but still the same problem.I also reinstalled disk-mimic. same problem.
@@anthony-mv7ey His email is on the page on Aminet. aminet.net/package/disk/misc/DiskMimic
@@AmigaLove I send him a email with all the details and I will let you all know when my problem is solved. I'm really looking forward to play with Disk Mimic!
Ok how to use it in amiga os 3.1?
Thanks for yor reponse😉
I believe it can be used but the colors will all be inverted.
@@AmigaLove Thank You.
