    I just finished the first test ride on my '97 WideGlide, and I'm a believer.
    My old factory carb was plum wore out at 41,000 miles, but even 6yrs ago, it didn't start, idle, or run like the 32 buck carb I got off of eBay.
    It feels like I gained 15 extra hp.
    Wonders never cease.

    I have one of those on a new to me Dyna and it works great so far. One note though, those bowl screws are very likely NOT Phillips but JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) and won't strip if you use the correct JIS driver....that would be the case on the stock Kehin carb for sure. I didn't know the difference myself for years and stripped plenty of JIS screws. In a pinch you can grind the tip of a Phillips driver shorter and it will fit JIS screws better and be far less likely to strip them.

      Are you talking idle speed or idle air mix? I back out the idle air mix 2 turns to start and fine adjust from there. You're supposed to start at 1.5 turns but I've found 2 to be more accurate. Idle speed screw I leave alone the adjust once its running

    • @Centralde54
      @Centralde54 Před 4 měsíci

      I’m talking idle speed. I’m doing a magneti Marelli swap. It’s a 2000 Electra glide with an 88TC. I got the bike cheap in a non running state. Put a thunder heart ignition on it. I haven’t had much time for it the past week but im able to get it running with the choke on. Let it warm up and it falls on its face when I push the choke in. I put a 190 main and 48 slow in it. Cheap Amazon adjustable idle speed screw backed off around 2.5 turns

    • @STLNik
      @STLNik  Před 4 měsíci

      Sounds like it wants more fuel. Are you sure it doesn't have a cam or anything? Possible air leak? I installed one of these the other day on a bone stock 88tc I used a 195/48, set the idle at operating temp and it's running good.

    • @Centralde54
      @Centralde54 Před 4 měsíci +1

      It does sound like it may have a cam. I got an intake off eBay and just installed it with the seals that were on it to try and move the process along. I just received the new seals, air cleaner, pingel adapter and petcock over the weekend. Planning on putting it all together the right way this weekend. Very well could be an intake leak since the seals are old and I couldn’t line it up with an air filter. Makes me feel better that the jets seem to be close to what you described. Thanks for your time. I’ll shoot back with an update. I enjoyed your video along with the slight shit talk at the beginning.

    "Harley" Keihin CV carbs were not made in the USA in the first place. I disregard EVERY opinion by non-mechanics and avoid them because I dislike non-technical humans.
    Carbs were perfected over 100 years ago and the earliest still used today is the SU (Skinners Union) CV which is a piston type and still in production.
    HD plugs are branded Champions. I've ridden and wrenched HDs since before the posers took over the market and while selling Bubba with more money than sense paid off for HD
    I have nothing to do with those people. Real bikers wrench. Real car people wrench. Real gearheads wrench.
    Carbs BTW are so simple they're basically a toilet float with some plumbing. My long-deceased grandmother and mother drove a T Model Ford on their rural mail route in the 1930s
    and managed just fine with manual throttle and ignition levers. Anyone who CHOOSES to learn can do so. I've never been stranded by a carb. Not so with EFI pumps...

    Ego is just fear, egocentric people tend to have inferiority complexes. They are genuinely terrified of not fitting in or being up to snuff. They are also genuinely terrified of what or how people may perceive them. You see a lot of that with the Harley riders, unfortunately. Not all of them of course
