- Some opening titles from the early and later opening versions to Kojak, but a very hard to find version of the theme tune- not even sure who orchestra is, taped from Radio 2 Nightride show in 1986... I defy any one to say it is on youtube already...Apologies for sound quality.

TV show themes from the 70s were often meticulously well put together and enjoyable to listen to.
yes they were..I am grateful to have grown up in this era of tv and the movies.. Incredible themes to Iconic heroes..
This is from an album released in the late 1970s called TV's Greatest Detective Hits, by the John Gregory Orchestra. Also included were similar high-energy arrangements of the themes from Banacek, McCloud, S.W.A.T., Harry O and other popular shows of the era.
Grazie... gentilissimo delle informazioni gradite
Great theme, even better show.
Happy 45th Birthday to the Universal Studios Television's original Kojak. The original. The Best.🍁🇺🇸😎🥞🍳☕📺🌤️
One of the best cop show theme tunes.......EVER! Currently doing the rounds on ITV4 (I'm taping them while I'm at work, 'Magnum P.I.' follows after!!) Always loved this show and Telly Savalas was and always will be, a class act.
Kojak was the man ! And the old New York City was a rough place when this came out....no gentrification, no hipsters , just a really tough place. They would have run away home
Well put! It was a rough place in the 70's for sure.......the recession also helped give it some rough edges. I miss the old NYC!
@@eltigre8978 Me too.....NYC born and raised and proud of it :)
@Ricky Roma True......sad
Some outdoor scenes also shot in Los Angeles. Palm trees & California license plates were avoided, but, the 2 big give aways were Los Angeles red painted curbsides and phone poles. No phone poles in yellow painted curbside Manhattan. It's amazing how some of inner Los Angeles scenes can mimic the look of Manhattan.
Happy Birthday Lt. Kojak ... we, your admirors still miss you !!!!
Sempre...baby
the 70's had the very best cop shows and man those themes were bad ass!
this sounds so awesome💖🤗
'Who loves ya, baby?'

This is dope thanks for sharing! Became a fan of Kojak in early 2000s thanks to TVLand!
Kojak ist ein Cooler Typ😎👍
This was closer to the original one, at least to my nearly 65 year old memory. You know it's been so long since I have heard this, it's amazing to think it was 40 years ago. And it's doubly amazing to think that they were cranking out such great TV series' some anthologies with two or three seperate series running in rotation, almost a half a dozen 90 minute movies of the week. Where as now, you can bearly get a network to pony up enough money for thirteen episodes, never mind twenty-six to thirty episodes a year, and not a reality show in the bunch. And the themes were some of the best jazz based music ever.
Great jazzed up version. Guess it's Goldenbergs work. Fabulous.
Thanks for the upload !!
He was the best....
I recall this version, it was re-arranged then they did another version which appeared in Series 5
Telly savalas...es KOJAK 💖❤️❤️❤️
fuckin fine dresser that Telly
Cool find.

Kojak outro seriado que época de exibição eu não perdia um episodio.

Kojak 👍

Super
I don't blame you. It's these shows what's making ITV4 the most watched of all the ITV channels. The main one is now very bland and boring (has been for quite a few years) so much so they've even dropped the '1' from their logo! They show Coronation Street umpteen times a week (overkill or what!?) and only interested in their "breadwinners", Downton Abbey ( can't see all the fuss about this) and Midsomer Murders.
kojak! tonights episode ! murder for nothing as a kid in the early 70s they would anounce a voice over in many episodes of kojak 5 0 etc .
Kojak was a hero to many of us that were teens and young adults then. Straight forward, no-nonsense, dressed sharp, strong sense of justice, and still able to charm the ladies. Seemed like Kojak was just Telly's personality coming through without having to do much acting. By today's standards, a detective like Kojak would be "politically incorrect" and in trouble with the news media. Things have really taken a tumble since Kojak's time.
THE WORLD SUCKS THESE DAYS
Wow you hit it right on the head!
CROCKER!
The opening scene of the NYPD police car reminds me of my brother-in-=law who who responded to an armed robbery and slapped a shotgun away from himself as he walked in the door of a store that was being held up. He didn't know of or expect the shotgun, just reacted. I'm proud of him....R.I.P. Uncle Louie U.S.N. WWII, NYPD
Thanks for the comment, nice to hear that story
@@chesteryoutubeactorsclub Thank you :)
Who loves ya Baby!
The *KOJAK* theme as played by the Royal Philharmonic could go well. After the introduction of the theme, play this clip.
Kojak outro seriado que na época de sua exibição pel
Kojak era interpretado pelo saudoso ator Telly Savalas
Obrigado por seu comentário
Who loves ya baby ? :)
Quanto mi piace ..io adoro Kojak ma metteste una buona volta puntate in italiano
some programs got changed
New one on me
The music is great......I'm sick of the endless rap "music" in all of the movies and TV shows
Were these rarities from overseas editions of the show?
+Ronald Charles Epstein Hello, the 'Rare' description is the version of the theme tune. It wasn't on the overseas editions as far as I know, it was a Band doing TV show covers.
link? :)
?
@aDBo'Ch 1 I think the missing link was you yourself, maybe you and Robert Riach can team up, find some work in a 12th Century Monastery selling etchings and weird mating call sound bites
@aDBo'Ch 1 Who says ''lefties'' are monastic etching fans, as far as I know, right handed people can follow those pursuits too
