The rock crash.
rdavidr after
The crash was a success. I’m not so sure about the hats, they kind of sounded better before.
The crash sounded amazing! Keep up the good work.
Crash
Damn man, that crash/ride sounds so much better after drilling.
Dude!! I'm so excited to get this in the mix back on my kit. You rock brotha.
RickyFicarelli i’ve been waiting for you’re comeback!!! (don’t mind the profile, it’s my old one)
I can get drum set please
When are you going to make a drum set out of PVC pipe. It has to be done.
I support this
10/10 would watch that video
Even a set of octabans would be sick!

Love this whole video! That 20" inch rock crash is sort of an absurd cymbal when you try to make it work with your normal cymbals, out of desperation because you know you shouldn't have bought it, but the sale price looked good and you were impulsive, so now you have this crazy heavy crash with infinite sustain, and that weird B12 shimmery ring, and it's like 10 dB louder than your other cymbals, but the sale said "no returns", so you put it on a boom stand and you're looking at it, and you're wondering how many people are into theirs, and you're trying to find a magic spot to hit it, and then you realize that it's going to be exactly what it is. And your sticks are chewed up. But this gave me HOPE that mine could sound MUCH BETTER if I wasn't way too lazy to even get the drill stuff.
Why is this so oddly and specifically relatable 😂🤔🤨
3:04 everytime I see him come from behind the tree I'm expecting him to say "Hey what's up guys scarce here"
3:04 perfection
Can I just mention that it's super nice to see (on top of all the creative stuff you're doing, keep it coming) that your drumming has also come a long way since I subscribed to you over 2 years ago. You're an amazing creator, probably my favourite channel on CZcams.
Another thing, even though y'all probably wont read this, I'm pretty sure you can have a custom channel link now, so, I recommend you do that. Not that it really matters much but it'd look nice.
Love ya stuff rdavidr
Honestly, you should have a million subs
WOW... I think this is one of the biggest improvements you made on the sound of a cymbal... They were good before, now they sound AWESOME!
I liked the before hi-hats, but the crash sounds crazy good with the modification. Nice video!
Dude! Your kit sounds so good, your doing an amazing job with recording!
The crash sounds so much better ! Oh ma gah
The crash before the holes sounds just like my ride. Looks great and sounds awesome. Keep doing what ur doing.
I really like how the ride/crash came out, your right it really sounded more like a crash then that bongy sound! Really love this man 🥁🤓
Hey man! I'm writing you from Windsor Ontario Canada. I love your vids/channel! Lots of great practical & fun tips/advice for all drummers. I think the Zildjian S series are a pretty good deal for their price point. But yeah the rock S crashes are super heavy. I think this is to provide some longevity & durability in the cymbals. But they end up sounding kinda harsh/obnoxious in most situations. Turning the 20" rock crash into a trash-type cymbal is a really good idea and I think it sounds great. Keep up the good work man!!👍👍
You're uploading way more often now! I love it!
Cant decide on my favourite. The demonstration was really well thought out.
I like the cymbals after modification. Well done!!
I have the 18" S trash crash, it's quite thin and it's REALLY trashy, the 20" one is so amazing as well.
I like both equal. Great mod, keep up the great work on your channel!!
Wow did Dave really just do a Scarce meme? Color me impressed.
impressed isn't a colour..
Joost Antenbrink it’s a saying you crackhead
@@ShermanProductions2015 no its not
Subbed. That was a really cool mod. I enjoyed it. Sounds kind of bright without being over the top. those cymbals sound way different with those holes. I actually really dig it. Youre right about the hat; that would be really great for electronic type music or even drum n bass style
Good stuff as always, but I just wanted to comment on how much I love the sound of your toms.
Diggin' your channel - Just started getting into modifying a pile of broken cymbals I had laying around and this has been a good source of info. Wish you would have included what the chick on the hihat sounded like in the before and after, I'm guessing there was a big difference in that also.
Best hole cymbal mod on CZcams yet. Makes me want to buy that s crash and send it to you to mod.
Love that Mastersound S-Series Hihat. Playing it by myself, but just without holes... alright, according to Sabian at least with one.
That ride nodded sounds beautiful to crash on 😍
6:53 tasty 🔥👏
I love that part!
Was that a scarce meme?
sventek97 i believe so, lol
yep
Where?

I love when you modify cymbals!
The 20inch sounds awesome!
Nice vid. Love crashes with holes and hi hats with holes for like trap or just experimental fusion. Gotta get me a drill lol thanks for making!
Way better!! Awesome job!
They sound so amazing
great transformation. Love the hi-hat, they have a trashy-ish sound without them being trash hats
Man those cymbals are so cool!
Wow, that's REALLY nice! Gotta try it myself, too.
Man, u did really an awesome job! that crash sounds great now!
Oh wow! I love the 'After' sound of the Ride! Very cool! :-)
Wow they sound amazing with holes
Perfect, hi-hat really needed that. Amazing.
Great job man they sound lovely to me
It is now a "Blast Crash". Love it.
Crash sounds awesome. Much improved
I came so fast the vid was private. The S Series cymbals are shy.
Definitely like the sound of the big crash over the high hats
Dude that’s sick as hell!
I liked the original ride sound but the hi-hat diffanetly sounds better after modification
Thanks David
The crash, tbh, the crash sounds soooo much better! its more mellow, warmer, and yeah lower and as you said it not so loud.
If you have ever been in a Twenty One Pilots gig you know those S series sound KILLER, good job dude!
Finally can hear a Zildjian S b12 top of a Zildjian A b20 alloy bottom! The only problem is these holes are so neat, it's like a factory, lol.. But now check out the Zildjian Dark S series! Awesome!
Turn a Bass Drum into a Snare (wielding the snare strands longer)
They both sound better with the holes but the crash is my fav
Good stuff! I have a Paiste “Wild Splash” that I need to tame a bit. Sure it sounds good and cuts through the mix, but it’s not very musical.
Trashing is up like this will help some I’m sure.
Ride sounds awesome
that crash sounds amaaaaaazing
They sound great
This is insane! I purchased mine like this. I could have just come to you
Congrats! rdavidr
I loved the hi hats but for me a brighter ride is better more often... But if you don't plan to use it as a ride it's pretty cool
Been waiting for more cymbal modification! Also my pfp kinda fits this video lol
The high hat I could honestly have either way. But the crash really benefited from the holes.
Dude I have a ZHT rock hats that I never use. I'm gonna drill holes all over it. Really love how yours came out
Hey david, I live near you apparently and I thought i saw you at guitar center one time but I didn't want to embarrass myself running up to some random dude so yeah lol. Anyway loving the videos keep being awesome!
Damn good tips that you show in your videos. Greetings from Good Old Germany.
Your snare sounds great.
The hi hat where the best Great job rdavidr
I like them both ways. If you had one of each both ways, would be a really diverse setup :)
Sounds so much better
Like much hi-hat much better with the mods. Thumbs up.
(I have the 18" S series Trash Crash. Love it).
I own a S medium thin crash I use it as both a crah and ride sounds great
Hey Dave I’ve been a fan or ur channel for a while my teacher always sends me to the office for watching ur videos in class anyway not the point
I love the way ur drums sound can you do a video on how u change and tune ur heads
Did you really crack A New Beat top high hat?
I've had a set so long I'm ashamed!
Haha.
Love your work... Love this channel
balls of steel!! respect
Hey David, great video! One question, what size holes did you end up drilling in the crash? I seen where 3/8 was on the paper but I also noticed every other row of holes was bigger.
Love the channel and your creativity is inspiring, to say the least.
Ayy they sound sick
Brighter and wider
The decay was much quicker I was suitably impressed although I must say the ride was no longer a ride more a dirty crash but I liked it , I could defo use those hats to especially for rock and metal pretty damn nice 👍
At some point, id like to see you thin some thick/heavy cymbals . Maybe a turntable of some sort. Cymbal flat. Spin. Emory cloth till desired thinness. You could use some cheap zbt's or something like it. Could be onto something.
Amazing!
The 20" crash sounded awesome after you trashed it up.
When a drum fill makes your mouth water 🤤
Your snare Sounds awesome in this video dude
It sound like Lars on St anger, Wich I don't actually hate, I feel like everyone shits on Lars just to fit in
I love your vids I'm a drummer myself I watch all your drum hacks
After, for sure. Sounds WAY better.
perfect video!
How do you crack new beat hi hats. They are like 1 inch thick!!! Damn impressive.
I like what you've done. Although my Zildjian K special dry hats aren't nearly that trashy.
I remember when you did stuff like the homemade bfsd, bass drum beater series, $20 drum kit etc... now you drill holes in cymbals xD Just joking man im loving the new content just as much as i loved your old stuff, i hope you get that sabian endorsement man. Love coming from Newcastle, England
This is a good example of a left handed English compliment. Soooo cheeeky
@@justadrummer1954 cheeky buggar !
I like them bouth after modification all so nice
When you we testing it for both before and after you need to loosen the high hat a bit it’s so tight
That's some hip Rhodes playing on that first background beat
I'd love to hear an A sweet ride made into a trash crash. I have a spare sweet ride I don't use much anymore. I'd be more than happy to send it in.
Sounds pretty good. Not bad.
I'm surprised, I like them quite a bit more now that you drilled them, especially the ride.
Can’t wait until the weekend, I’m going to the dump to get buckets and stuff like that to make a “good” drum set
Hey bro! I miss you! Thanks for all!
You got me at 3:04! LOL
I got a "I" series trash crash that doubles a hi hat top
couldnt be happier with the crash use but sucks as hi hat top if you dont have good bottom with it
