Hi Geo. Looks like a nice shaving cream. Nice comparison shave with the Muhle R41 and the Merkur Futur. I love the Muhle R41, cuts through anything in its path. Just as good as a straight razor. You cant beat the looks of the R41, proper old school original look. Take care Geo

Some fear the R41,but it just takes practice. If I can use it with brain cancer..any gent can learn. My cancer treatment ends in March and I'm gonna get in a baby smooth R41 shave and hit a restaurant that weekend for a big steak dinner.

Thanks for the comparison shave Geo. I always wondered how the R41 stacked up against an adjustable, now I know. Feather does like to smear the glue all over the blade and paper. Whenever I use a new one I always soak it in 70% alcohol first Wraper and all, helps eat through the glue

The Futur aka Potato Peeler is more aggressive at 0.5 than the R41. Using a Feather on the Futur even at just 0.5 is just too much and just not necessary. But on the R41, the Feather works just fine.
I agree that the Futur feels smoother thanks to its weight.
Though I shaved with the Futur at 6 a few times, I stay between 0.5 and 1 and get the best shaves out of all my razors.
So you're a fan of the potato peeler at its nearly lowest setting?
@@geofatboy Yea, 0.5 for sharp blades and 1.0 for mild blades.
@@starlodear2987bs its maybe more dangerous buy less efficent i have to use it on 5 6 to get same results as r41 and its way easier to cut ys

Excellent shave Geo, I have the Futur, I go south to north under the lip and have no issues getting under the nose.

Q shave makes a knock off of that razor The future it really isn't bad. It peaked my interest enough to consider buying one and when I do I'm going to buy one from Shave Nation and get one of them nifty rubber coated handles

I'm using the soap right now. I absolutely love it! It has a very classic soapy smell to it and lathers up. Super good. I would recommend it highly

Not yet but only because I just use shaved soaps. But thanks for caring it
I really like my R41 but do find my skin doesn’t like it after a few occasions. Wouldn’t use it on my skin with a feather blade but it’s my go to for a quick one pass shave.
It's definitely a time saver on a heavy beard!
Futur on 6 3 1 4 2 1 always gets me glass smooth! 6 3 1 with a astra like blades 4 2 1 with feather like blades

I bought R41 grande and and 89 for trying all complications😊So again when i added to lots of blades again for comparison its going huge and huge formulas🎉So everyman has different feelings for shaving and tasted but everyone again should watch your videos to more clarify.

I picked up some of Dr. Selby's soap and ointment. Great stuff. I'm pretty sure they're right about 400 shaves out of that tub. Great show down. I'll pass on the R41.

It appears the Dr Selby Shaving Cream bowl was designed so you can set it on the top of the lid.

That's precisely my experience. I always run my Futur at 6 and it's really smooth, it cuts so well, but with the R41 I always feel I need to be extra careful maybe because of the teeth. I just wished they did an agressive Futur with a smaller head since it's tricky near the nose

I notice that you use a really steep angle on the R41 (riding the teeth). I'm impressed how quickly you shave and no blood letting. I'll have to try that steeper angle with the R41 and a feather but much more slowly than you 😆

Hey Geo,Those Holes Aren't There For Air Exchange ,Pretty Sure Those Are So When You Sit The Wet Bowl On Top Of The Lid To Dry They Let Any Residual Water To Drain Out.

@@geofatboy Naww Not Really IMHO I Think They're More Likely For Drainage From The Wet Bowl. I've Put An Airtight Lid On Some Of My Soaps And The Next Day They Were Dry. So I Really Doubt It LOL Hell Call The Company And Ask. Thanks For The Reply 👍

Nicely done. Like both razors. The Futur gets a bad rap frequently with the nose thing. I don't get why people are so reluctant to use the off hand to raise the snoz to improve your maneuvering.

Being a cheapskate I bought the q-shave Futur knockoff, waiting for delivery. Being fairly new to DE razors after 40 years of cartridge, i'll take it slow ... if I like the razor, I'll get a real Futur... @geofatboy thanks for the great videos, you helped me get great technique for my shaves been 3 months now and life is sweet with my Merkur 23c.
I have a future clone & a real Merkur Futur. U should like the shave of the Q shave. Double check the blade gap on 3-6 from several angles to me sure the top plate cap is not skewed. I’ve noticed the clones tend to do that. The real Futur is nicer no doubt. The weight & ergos feel different. Hope u like the q

@@geofatboy I was gifted the satin Merkur Futur & a stand. It’s gorgeous I proudly display it on the counter. The mingshi clone I got was black. I just got my dad a satin clone. He would be upset if I spent $100 on a razor for him. He let me give him my Henson because he knows I got it as a gift but I still had to twist his arm. He wanted to give it back & have me order him one. He is old school.
