    Their lifetime warranty is for real - A1 customer service - had their razor for 2 years and loved it but the small washer came out where you screw the handle into I emailed Henson got an immediate response and within 1 week had a new Henson razor sent to my home at no cost to me. Very impressed with their customer service and love their razors 👍👍

    Nice presentation of the Canadian safety razor Jenson al13. I have ordered it and Iam waiting to use it. I hope it will make me a smooth good shave for my 5-5 days of hair growth. I have ordered it with the RK blades and the safety razor stand too. Greetings from Greece.

    Nice vid. However, I beg to differ on the issue of cost savings. Your math is accurate as far as it goes but what happened to me when I went from a cartridge razor, Harry's to the Henson AL13 was the entrance into the world of DE wet shaving that now includes things like, pre shave cream or oil, shave soaps or creams, post shave balm/cream, badger/boar/synthetic brushes, lather bowls, razor/brush stands and the ultimate dreaded afflication, RAD aka Razor Acquisition Disease. As a total newbie, the Henson AL13 was an eye opening experience as you have described. But then, like the newly addicted, the quest for the perfect shave then began in earnest. Despite how well the AL13 shaved, I thought, hmmm perhaps the AL13M (medium) might be better. So another $70. Then I started thinking, instead of buyng multiple razors, to get different levels of aggression, perhaps an adjustable one. Well, you know where that led. Yes another HUGE splurge on an adjustable, the Rex Ambassador. Right now I am in remission from RAD but, remission is not cured. Then there is the matter of blades,. Yes they are super inexpensive but if you buy a variety pack say consisting of 12 packs of 5 for a total of 60 blades, you're going to experiment with so many blade and razor combinations, that you'll need a spreadsheet to accurately decide which combo fits you the best. Bottom line, is switching to a DE safety razor cheaper in the long run? Maybe, maybe not! 😉

      good point, forgot to account for RAD 😅

    Nice review. I've been safety razor shaver for 3 years now using a merker 34c. So I decided to get a stainless steel went with the feather ASD2. It also has a very different angle compared to other shavers. Only thing that turned me off Henson was I thought there was just one to pick from but there's multiple razors.

    I've been using a traditional reusable safety razor with the single blade for the last two years. All metal construction - it feels solid and weighty and nice in the hand. You really just have to be a little more careful but you get a close shave every time. I don't think there's a need to reinvent it, but if it gets more people away from disposable plastic ones, I'm all for it.

    I Bought a Wilkinson sword safety razor from a convenience store about a year agoand I've never looked back. 5€ well spent. I dont think I will be switching to any expensive brand soon unless I notice a problem with this one. Its all plastic with a weighted handle. 38g in total including the razorblade. Great video btw.

      @@august_build it took me like a month to get comfortable with it and I've since been using a straight razor well over 2 years, the first time it was terrifying cuz it sharp metal near your face but I've learned that all you have to do is let the weight of razor do the work, you don't need to press as hard against your skin.
      I often make two passes one with the grain and the other against :)

    • @august_build
      @august_build  Před 9 dny +1

      Make sure your skin is either wet (hot water) or you've applied shaving cream before starting. When shaving, you really don't need to apply much pressure, so err on the side of less pressure. After one or two shaves, you'll be pretty comfortable with using the razor.

    I've had the Parker 99r safety razor for 8 years. I definitely do not get nearly as good of a shave as a cartridge razor. It takes longer and the blades don't last as long. That being said, I've saved a ton of money so I'll keep using a safety razor. Maybe a hensen is what I need to try.

    • @august_build
      @august_build  Před měsícem +1

      Interesting. Do you know by chance what brand of blades you were using with your 99r?

    • @vapeape7875
      @vapeape7875 Před 5 dny

      Interesting. For me it's the exact opposite. I find that the DE blades last much longer and perform much a cleaner shave than a 5-blade cartridge.
      With my DE razor resp. the blades used, the blades hold easily three shaves of 3 days old beard before needing to be replaced. And the price of replacement blades is absolutely negligeable.

      @@august_build I received the Al13-Medium and did my first shave today. It was surprisingly good-more aggressive and efficient than the mild AL13. It removed more hair on the first pass, required fewer passes overall and didn't need multiple strokes per area. There was no discomfort and it felt just as smooth as the AL13. The end result was noticeably better. I will continue using it as my daily driver to test it out further.
      I'm now also considering trying the AL13-Aggressive, which is only available at boutique stores and not directly on Henson's website, to see how it compares.
