My Virgin Kitchen is a CZcams cooking channel I created when I wanted to teach myself how to cook and create a video diary of the journey / mrbarrylewis . I have never had a professional lesson & am just your every day chap attempting recipes to inspire you guys to try too. Most uploads are how to recipe cooking videos, but some fun is had too on Sunday Funday when anything goes, including giant foods, mini foods, taste testing foods sent from around the World, food gadgets and many more. Any requests for recipes / cool stuff you've seen let me know! I try my best to reply to as many comments as possible, but please interact with eachother and be respectful :-) #barrylewis
Your phoebe is just awesome Barry!
We Scots are a hardy people, I once ate 40 oatcakes without water!
Respect.
Me To!!
+Marten Staghouwer Whisky
How many people are watching that are Scottish. 🙋
I don't likE oatcakes,BUT QUAVERS
Oatcakes are great crumbled in a thick lentil soup sprinkled with fresh parsley!
Your videos hug my soul, your constant joy is amazing. Much love
BARRY 😊 A Billion thanks for filming this! No-one was more excited to watch this than me. Fabulous presenting by you and Phoebe!
Iook out for a Thank you card arriving soon. 🍴👍
You’re such a good Dad, Barry. Keep it up!
Oh, I love that you're doing videos with your little girl. Love her expressions and opinions!
Your Scottish accents where on point 😂😍 I'm from Scotland too!!!!
The best part of this video was Phoebe!!! What a charming child ! She is smart and I enjoyed her sense of humor. She is a credit to your parenting .
Phoebe is my spirit-animal. What an awesome kid. Doing a good job raising her, Barry :)
I love how you call your daughter "Mate"
I've been lucky enough to go on a tour of the Tunnocks factory. It was a magical place staffed by friendly Glaswegian ladies who kept letting us sneak as many reject biscuits from the production line into our pockets as possible.
God bless Tunnocks.
Phoebe is so cute with her scottisch wig! I think I know who will be the heir of your legacy Barry!
Pheobe's quick wit makes these videos. she's so adorable!
These two are terrific.
She is absolutely adorable. What a kind darling child. Make more videos with your children they are beautiful!
"Delicious... It's got caramel in the middle, and you would love it my friend!"
Those looked so delicious! Phebs is sooooo sweet 😁.
Phoebes Scottish accent is adorable.
Love the Scottish accents! Watching from Glasgow
Phoebe is so funny and just brilliant! 😀
Phoebe was great. What a star. Real talent there. Yeah, Barry did an okay job too.
Phoebe is so adorable and is a natural in front of the camera.
I've been in a terrible mood all night that I couldn't shake, but watching this video made me feel a little better :) Great video as always, and thanks to you and Phoebe for the laughs, I really needed some!
phoebe is such a character, i'm a fan! haha, she's super super cute! (and the color of her eyes is very beautiful!)
Lovely little helper you have there..too cute!
This brings tears to my eyes for I have only once managed to get my hands on genuine Scottish oatcakes and since I live in Eastern Europe those can not be found anywhere.
I love them.
amazon my dude they sell em
Fellow Pug lover.. Subscribed for sure. Life would be almost impossible without Pug love. Everyone should have one or twenty lol. Long live the Pug.
Barry seems like such a fun dad.
By the way Barry, the inside of a macaroon is not coconut, but is actually a kind of fondant made with potato (or tatties as we call them!) and icing sugar.
I've never seen a single person use their head to break a teacake, it must be an English thing.
I've never seen anyone break it with their head, and I'm English
It's not I'm English and I'd never heard of it either
I don't know why you'd want to break it with anything other than your teeth o,O
nope I'm English and had no idea that was a thing, nor did I realise they were even Scottish though they've been my favourite biscuit/treat my whole life!
it's a Scottish thing its not common but some areas it's a thing haha
Great video, nice to see Phoebe again, she's blossoming into a lovely young lady. Your reaction to the oatcakes was interesting; I often get cheesy Scottish style oatcakes in my fortnightly Graze box and I love them. So do my three cats, who also eat crisps and rice crackers whenever I have snacks, but they especially like the oatcakes. You know what they say - 3 out of 3 cats can't be wrong :)
My dad would tell me lots of stories of when he was a kid in a catholic elementary school, and one involved coconut snowballs.
My dad *hated* coconut, but his mom (my grandma) would always put one in his lunch. One very sunny day, the teachers thought that it was such a nice day, they would let the kids have lunch outside. Since it was fairly sunny, the marshmallow bit of the snowball in his lunch was starting to melt. So, he had the genius idea to stick it on the playground slide while none of the teachers were looking, in the hopes that some poor unfortunate kid would slide down and ruin their pants.
My dad had a newfound respect for coconut snowballs that day, and continued to do the same thing for almost two whole weeks until one of the teachers caught him.
What a fun video, your daughter is adorable!
5:22AM here in the middle of the US love the videos found you through ashens over a year ago and have never regretted it
YESSS FINALLY BARRY!
in the southern usa, our snoballs (yes, that is the correct spelling for the confection around here) are chocolate cakes filled with cream and then covered with a layer of marshmallow and then a final layer of coconut. delicious!
Oat cakes are commonly used for stovies (mashed potatoes & boiled beef combined with gravy) to soak up the juices. Rarely ate on their own/how the packet shows.
We had that first drink whilest we were on holiday there with highschool. We bought a 2L bottle for like 2 pounds from a random turkish shop on the corner of Princess St. in Edinburgh. amazing stuff
Your so lucky, Phoebe is so we'll spoken and funny!
I’m from Paisley a town about 5-6 miles outside Glasgow and your daughters accent was great 👌🏻
You should have more than 1,000,000 subscribers, your content is a one-off and its not boring👍
For what it's worth, Nairn's oatcakes are widely available in Canada and not just in British import shops. I remember the days when Nairn's oatcakes came in a wax paper wrapper and were shaped like petticoat tails (think of a an oatcake that is roughly shaped like a piece of pie).
But that was about 40 years ago. In any case, they were great with a bit of butter spread on them, and the butter helped offset the dryness.
Irn Bru is also widely sold in Canada. To my palate, it's a lot like a kind of orange creme soda.
Chocolate-covered cookies with a marshmallow centre are also popular and made by various domestic manufacturers. Baxter's soups (e.g. Cock-a-Leekie) are also found in Canada.
Oh, and shortbread too. We've got tons of that stuff in all kinds of varieties.
Phoebe is such a darling little girl!!
Hey Barry, I really like your channel, especially this kind of videos where you taste treats from foreign countries
And irn bru tastes metallic because it's made with girders
love it.
I used to buy Iron Bru from a UK themed shop in downtown Flushing, MI. It's like orange cream soda.
Cullen, Moray is my hometown and that soup is amazing! The local cafes around the area serve it and it's better than the Baxters one too.
Can't sleep having a barrathon thought I'd start with this again (seen every video of yours atlest twice) being Scottish myself love Amy and Boston
Here in Newfoundland we get those tea cakes, snowballs, caramel bars and caramel logs.....Reminds me of childhood :)
I'm from scotland and this was adorable
You bring a smile to my day
You make me so happy.
I wonder if Scottish make fun of English people using they accent
Aye we do!😂
Aye all the bloody time pal haha
We do 😂
+CancerousCunt 0187 aye a lot eh the time
Enriko well as a joke sometimes
Love it most we get on the Faroe Islands too 😋
The centre of a macaroon bar is not coconut, but (you'll never believe this) is potato! It's mashed potato mixed with icing sugar and pressed to set hard, and it's the greatest thing ever.
great job, what fun too :) ty both.
9:38 Boston is like "WTF Why am I here I was just guarding the fridge"
Caramel bars are one of my all time favourites, would love to see you make a giant one bud
Nairn's are fabulous with cheese or kippers.
Phoebe is so cute love this
And just think, soon Scottish food will be classed as foreign cuisine to the rest of the UK.
Thought it already was!
Jizz Fandango it already is
we aren't going anywhere.
I buy the caramel bars and tea cakes whenever I get to World Market. We love them!
I love those oat cakes, especially the rough ones.
Fun fact:the biscuit browns in MOD rations are the same manufacturer.
I love Scots and Scotland!
those nairns oatcakes were made for dolcelatte ;) treasure these products

This is adorable!!
Lol I feel like Phoebe actually runs this channel now......
I've had lots of those caramel bars and your right they do sell them all over the uk even at my local mini shops that you really only buy sweets and drinks from but the magazines are way too expensive 👍🏻
Aww your daughter Phoebe really make this video something really special! ^_^
I love Scottish food, I'm hoping to go there next month so I'll keep any eye out for these items :)
Maaan scottish food looks amazing!
Phoebe is very cute! Would definitely enjoy seeing her in more tasting videos :).

pheobe is so cute!! i love iron Bru!!!!
Hi from Scotland Irn bru is actually the best drink in Scotland I think and a tea cake is very good
Somerset accent coming out Barry when you say toothpaste like 'toofpaste' ahaha
Oh I love those oatcakes. I wish we could still get them here in my city in Canada.
I loooooove snowballs, theyre very popular in NFLD Canada
it looks like rust.. that'll be the ferric oxide. Otherwise known as.. rust 😁
I remember the irn bru adverts, it always disappointed me that as a child I couldn't lift up the pavement after drinking some.
Made in Scotland Fae Girders
I thought rust was really bad for you? Like if it gets into a cut you have to have a tetanus!
I love those oatcakes and you can get those in any supermarket here in England
Your kids are so cute. You should always do tasting videos with them :)
As a Scot, watching this was a blast xD
I can't believe there wasn't tablet in that box! Have you had Scottish tablet before, Barry?
Ooh 4 years later and he still has not replied 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
With our foods you really need to eat it when its been traditionally made, like oatcakes that have been cooked on a gridle over a stove and eaten traditionally with soup. The same goes with the cullen skink and the cockaleeky since they are way better when cooked with the right local fish and vegetables since the taste is effected by the quality of ground the vegies were grown in.
Haggis is a small brown creature that runs around the highlands
All my Scottish peeps understand ;)
I'm from Aberdeen!
I'm watching from aberdeen
Where did the headbutting Tunnock's come from? I've never heard of that before. XD
You should come to Arbroath and have a famous Arbroath Smokie, im sure youd love that!
There's nothing more OK than a fine Arbroath Smokie! 🐟
hmmmmm heavenly.
+Elle Kay Indeed!
I'm from Johnshaven
I'm from the isle of Lewis
Revolutio, the looping roller coaster at Blackpool Pleasure Beach was sponsored by IRN BRU for a long time, up until 2011 I think.
Irn bru is meant to taste like bubblegum! Much love from Scotland :) xx
Last time i was this early England was still in the EU
they still are in the eu atm. and this is so old now ive not seen it since the last recently uploaded video i watched though tbf
They still are, the U.K. Have decided to leave the eu and we haven't yet. We leave officially in 2018
Activation of Article 50 has to be ratified by Parliament first, 2 years is time limit for negotiations and can be extended. Part of the negotiations could be we have to stay a member of the EU for X years before officially leaving, or we could have to pay Fee's for leaving (annually or a one time fee) it's not a we activate we leave thing, it was made to be something a government did not want to enact
@@MrTrilbe We did it!!
Phoebe is so cute!
I am from Scotland and for the oat biscuits my family normally eats them with some stovies or something.
Here in the US snowballs also have chocolate cake in the middle, it's a bit much.
they're merely the cupcakes, turned over, un frosted, and marshmallow goo on top, with coconut.
"Just to say that we don't endorse eating dogs, thank you!"
I just about died at that comment omg
I LOVE snowballs 😍😍😍
She's so cute! For some reason I thought she was six years old, but if that's the case, she's got to be the smartest six year old ever.
Yep oatcakes do taste like horse feed. Definitely need a smattering of cream cheese and jam. Don't throw them out Barry. You can also use them in a trifle or a base for a cold dessert pie like lemon, chocolate cream, or sliced strawberry jello pie. Use them like graham crackers.
