- Today we are headed to Latvia for the sounds of Tautumeitas
original Video: • Tautumeitas - Raganu N...
For ancient Latvians, the name “tautumeitas” was given to young women at marriageable age but today it stands for all women dressed in national costumes. Tautumeitas's music is created by six voices and six pairs of hands owned by Latvian girls, who believe that music makes the world better.

I'm Latvian. Nice React. They sing about Midsummer "LĪGO"
They where in Latvian X factor last year.
Wow awesome!!! I didn't know that
It is pronounced [tʌʊtʊmeɪtʌs: rʌgʌnʊ nʌkts], and 'raganu nakts' means 'the night of witches'. Latvians have a lot of folk songs and even the same folk songs are sung and played in different melodies and variations. To be more exact, we have more than 200000 folk songs, of course, not all are sung... Thank you for taking an interest in Latvian folk music!
Thank you Wikipedia and thank you Sendijs!!
The best thing about the "World Tour" is being exposed to all these different amazing talents from different cultures and personalities. Thanks again as always!
Likewise, it gives me the opportunity to get to know music from around the world.
Thank you so much guys!! I really appreciate it
Hi! Tnaks for latvian culture appreciation. Tautumeitas were sinning ancient summer, Summer solstice and magic protection folk songs in modern variations.
Thank you
Midsummer is the Latvian annual holiday celebrated during the summer solstice, the shortest night and longest day.
The day before Midsummer is called Herbal Day, its evening is called Midsummer Night, the night is Midsummer Night and the next day is Midsummer Day.
The national holiday Midsummer Day is June 24, a few days after the summer solstice.
Part of the Latvian diaspora in Siberia - 19th century descendants of Latvian colonists celebrate John's Day on July 6 and 7.
It is the largest and richest tradition of the Latvian nation, celebrated by all generations and all groups of society.
Historically, Heritage Day is associated with summer solstice, but due to the mismatch of dates, solstice celebrations are sometimes separated from Midsummer's Day.
One of the most important traditions of Midsummer is weaving wreaths.
For women, the wreaths are woven from flowers, while for men, the wreaths are usually made of oak leaves.
Witchcraft is often associated with the cult of fertility and the prevention of adversity.
Thank you Vards!!!!

Love your reaction, cheers from Latvia
Thank you
Tautumeitas, my favorite girl folk group! Paldies! American Latvian here. Glorious Latvian music has a unique passion curated by their extraordinarily complex history. ❤🔥Much is based on poems passed down orally through the centuries. Latvian is one of the oldest European languages from the Proto-Endo-European period around 800 BC, but wasn't written until the 1600's. Latvia has experienced much suffering. Other countries inflicted many wars, battles, deportations, and years of occupation. During the great terror, in just the month of June 1937, per Stalin's orders, Yesov ("The Bloody Dwarf"), executed more than 800,000 Latvians, and deported 7500,000 to Gulags. Some were my relatives. I would have chosen execution.
Thank you :)
Nice reaction video! Here are a few others you may want to react to, along the same genre line: Norway-Wardruna & Aurora "Helvegen" Live. France-SKÁLD "Rún" . (sung in Norse or Icelandic...not sure which one). Ukraine-(not sure what genre to fit this in, but it's a colab.)...Моршинська, The Maneken, Onuka, ДахаБраха & Katya Chilly "Голос води/The Voice of the Water"
Perfect, Thank you
Love your energy, I'm first time here .. peace and love from Latvia
thank you 😊
It was a pop-sy version of a latvian folk song. The word "līgo" is basically a chear during our midsummer fest. I highly recommend you look the latvian song and dance festival. Especially the song "saule, pērkons, Daugava" it makes my heart all bubbly
thank you
Loving the content as always. Miss ya!
We miss you Ash!!! Get better soon!
Tautumeitas are amazing - and your right - they sing in tribal, folk style mixed in modern way!!!
thank you
This is a song about Summer Solstice-the most magical night of the year that belongs to the women who turn into witches and werewolves. Hence the look!
ok awesome
You should react to Latvian Song Festival. I'm sure you will have goose bumps! :)
ok awesome

You should create a playlist of this series, it's hard to look for it in the all videos list.
I do have a Playlist called Pharaoh Reacts :) czcams.com/video/y2NyAOFF1Tg/video.html
@@Paul-PharaohTV
I know, I would like a playlist only about the world tour.
@@bramilan Well that makes sense. I will do that
different culture? Did you forget your roots Amerimut? This hypnotic broom ride comes from the deepest heart of Europe, that has never been really christianized.
And yet, it's still a different culture to Canadians
@@Paul-PharaohTV where is the difference? Only at the distance from the roots. And where are yours? Not in Europe?
what point are you trying to prove?
I’m from Latvia. That girls r amazing, check there last song and video it’s much better ))))) and good luck 👍

If you like that, perhaps you should like to check out Celtic Woman - an Irish ensemble also well known for their folk, and pseudo-folk, singing.
I did quite like them for a while but a bit 'nice and bland' of late for my, personal, tastes - others, though, may love that.
I will add it Gordo!!! Thank you!
Celtic woman are great, I liked them more in the past, but they are still great.
These women are a wonderful contribution to World Music oh they are also hot! 🔥
😀😀😀😀
According to Google Translate, "Tautumeitas: Raganu Nakts" translates to "Folk Girl: Witch's Night".
Ok cool
Correct translation!
I’m from Latvia so the language feels easy to speak for me and pronounce but I look at others and I realise it’s not🤚🏻
thank you
