    I bought my daughter the D24 and immediately upgraded components. It's been great and since she's grown I just up sized the front wheel to 26" and am about to build a custom rear wheel. Will have to upload an update video.

    Hi Jake, how do you compare the geometry of the D24x to the Norco FS 24? I see you jumping the D24x, but not hitting the burlier lines like you did in the Norco video. Absolutely amazing videos, my favorite reviews so far as they are coming from the rider (you), not a parent. I'm about to pull the trigger on a new bike for my son, and am trying to decide if the slack Norco is the way to go, or more balanced trail geo like the D24X.

      Thanks Drew, that’s really nice of you to say that. And very good observation too between the Norco FS and Polygon D24X.
      To be a bit more objective, the Norco FS1 24 has overall better parts in every way, the Norco FS2 is a better comparison.
      It really depends on where you’re riding, I would pick the Polygon D24X for flatter, flowy, and jump trails. It’s a bit easier to climb on and the suspension has enough adjustments for jumps or shorter descents that are under 3mins.
      The Norco on the other hand is really more of a kid’s enduro rig, it’s harder to climb but can go as fast as full sized bikes on steep and techy trails. I also feel like there’s nothing to change on the FS1, I bumped on a couple and they’re mostly stock.
      In the end, it really depends where you ride and how hard and gnarly the trails are. The D24X can take on double blacks, but I would be not that confident, on single track, the Polygon is probably faster, and it has faster tires too.
      Either way your son (and you) will enjoy riding 😀🤙

      @RidesWithJake Thank you, that is very helpful feedback. We mostly have enduro-syle trails here in the PNW, but have to earn our turns most of the time but I can tow him if needed. I ended up going for the Norco because of what you said about it increasing your confidence. If it makes it more fun/safer on the way down, he'll figure out how to get back up the hill :)

    Jake, just think about what bikes used to be like for kids, these bikes are a luxury compared to those old bikes yet we still were able to ride the same stuff. 🙂

    • @RidesWithJake
      @RidesWithJake  Před 10 měsíci

      @aussiebiking, so true, I think bikes in general in the 1-2K range is a lot more capable now, and it trickled down to kids bike. It’s awesome for Polygon to bring its competitive formula from the D7 and T7 down to a kids 24” bike.
      These ones are really so confidence inspiring 🤙

    That’s a lot of money for a kids bike

    • @RidesWithJake
      @RidesWithJake  Před 9 měsíci

      Yeah it’s a lot of money for a kids bike, but part for part, it’s not more expensive than an equivalent adults bike like a Siskiu D7, which is almost always the case as there’s just not enough demand compared to adults bike, I guess a lot of adults think “that’s a lot of money for a kids bike”
      But when you spend significant amount of time and money going out on weekends, this bike is really a good deal, plus it’s on sale at 2/3rd the price now

    • @MisfitOBS
      @MisfitOBS Před 9 měsíci +3

      It's also about perspective.. if your kid just cruises around the neighborhood to and from their friends, yeah, this bike is a waste. But I see lots of people buy a cheap bike for their kids and then wonder why they don't like mountain biking... This is the bike I got for my 10 year old and he's stoked to get up at 6 am 3 times a week to come on morning rides with me.. I'd pay $10k for that.....

      @@MisfitOBS wow! $10k is a bargin for that enthusiasm.
