    Evening Eddie and Mrs C. Wow the quality of video is crisp and clear like the weather. Its a lovely route that isn't it. So worth the climb up. What a day you had. Excellent route description Eddie. Makes it very easy for people to follow if they watch this. Stunning day, stunning views and amazing footage. 👏 I never tire of those hills and you've showed them beautifully. Thanks for sharing 😊. Literally shaking my head in awe of the incredible drone footage 🎉

      Evening emz, thanks for the positive comments, it is really appreciated. We saw the weather forcast and decided to head for the hills! So pleased we did, we both had a great day. This walk is a favourite of ours, so decided to take the camera gear to capture the views. We have both been loving the Cheviots recently and have been going on a regular basis. I have just bought the drone and still learning how to use it properly. It was too windy to use on the summit. Thanks again for watching and for the comments. Best Wishes. Eddie & Carol

    Hi Eddie & Carole, great to see you both back out. Thanks for the brilliant views, as far as the eye (or camera) can see. One thing I noticed - hardly any trees. And yes I could just make out the snow on the distant Scottish hills there. Great camera work. Thanks again, all the best.

    Great video Eddie. It’s an area I haven’t been to yet and it’s now persuaded to go walking there soon! Amazing weather and looked a very peaceful walk too!
    Looking forward to meeting up in The Lakes in a couple of weeks and hopefully we’ll have similar weather and views! Matt

      Hi Matt, thanks. There is some really good walks in the Cheviots. It hasn't got the dramatic mountain views like the Lakes, but still really good walking with some cracking views and definitely a lot quieter than the Lakes. Keeping my fingers crossed we get some good weather when we catch up in a couple of weeks. I am looking forward to it. Thanks again for watching & commenting, it is always appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.

We have been walking in the Cheviots quite a bit recently but not been doing any filming. This was the first time I had taken the drone on a walk, been practising locally to get used to the controls etc. Thanks again for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.

    HI Eddie, Hi Carol. Great to see you back out in the hills again making a fabulous video as ever. What a stunning day you had for it. I love my solitude so the Cheviots would suit me down to the ground. I bit too far to do in one day so I might have to spend a few days over there at some point. As ever thank you for sharing your day with us, I hope you are both keeping well. All the best, Dave.

      Hi Dave, thanks. It was good to be back on the hills again. We have been doing a fair bit of walking in the Cheviots recently but not been taking the camera. I decided to dust the camera off for this walk after we saw the weather forcast. Pleased I did, as it was a great day. The Cheviots have not got the dramatic mountains like the Lake District but there is still a lot of fantastic hill walks with superb views and far fewer people!! I would say we actually enjoy walking in the Cheviots better than the Lakes to be honest. We are both well, thanks, hope all is well with you. Thanks again for watching and for the positive comments, it is appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie & Carol

    Well Eddie, you haven't lost your touch, with the camera work and the weather!! Blue skies, no wind. definitely Eddie Caisley weather!! The hills are so different to anywhere else, so brown and uniform, with clear paths everywhere. Loved the wild goats - more of them than people but I wonder do they respect the border!! You couldn't miss that peak either and then you are spoilt again with signposts. Loved the views over to Scotland, very clear and crisp. Good on you for getting a drone - seems it's a trend these days - you'll master it in no time I'd say. I can see why you love hiking in these hills, with so many other peaks all around. Nice to see you back on youtube!! Regards, Ashley

      Thanks Ashley, we both had a great day. We have been enjoying hiking in the Cheviots, some great walks and you are right more wild goats than people! Been thinking about a drone for a while and decided to give it a go. I wanted to take some drone footage at the summit, but it was too windy. Suppose that's why they call it Windy Gyle!! Thanks again for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.

    Hi Eddie. It's been so long so was great to see this video land. What a smashing walk and it looks like you had the hills all to yourself. Unfortunately it's too far for me to do in a day but I really enjoyed seeing a different part of the country. Wa-hay! You got yourself a drone too. Don't know how long you've been practising but that was pretty impressive drone footage. Excellent stuff! Alan (Metalman) was talking about getting one on one of his recent video's so when he sees this it will probably spur him on. Great to see those goats too. Thanks for sharing your walk with us Eddie. I really enjoyed watching. PS Say hello to Carol

    Nice video, Eddie. Checked my notes. I went up Windy Gyle on 12 March, 2012 from the Scottish side. Went on to the Cheviot where I met some very friendly Northumbrians, one wearing shorts. It was incredibly warm for March. That was my only time in the Cheviots and I had a great day. My only regret is that I missed out the Schill on the way down from the Cheviot. - Would only have added 30/40 minutes on to my day. I doubt if I'll be back as I'm too long in the tooth now. Nice bit of nostalgia for me.

    Some old Elizabethan intelligence documents specify the route by which Scottish raiders were riding into England unseen. Part of this secret route was down the 'street'. Its wasn't so well defined as a route then so to the west of this as marked on the OS map before you get to Swineside law (going north) their path passes a point called Gugges Grave (grid reference is NT83638 12533). Its not on the modern explorer map which only has a Well marked in approximately the same position. It is on the old pathfinder maps. I've never been to visit this part of the Cheviots before and its out of my reach now but I've always wondered what the Gugges grave is and what it looks like as there is so little information. Its a little bit off the track you took so you probably didn't see it.

      @eddiecaisley5746  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Hi, really interesting information you have provided. This is a walk we have started doing on a regular basis so I will have a look for Gugges Grave, using the grid ref you have provided. It is fascinating to learn about the history of the area. Thanks again for the info and thanks for watching, it is appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.

    • @theotherside8258
      @theotherside8258 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@eddiecaisley5746 The grid ref may not be exact as it seems as it refers to the label, but labelling on the maps seems to be referring to about 50 meters west of a sheepfold near a tree or across from a stream. Its difficult to see on a satellite image if there is any rise in the ground
