  • A walk up to Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England (978m) and the fourth highest mountain in England, ILL Crag (935m) by a route known as the Corridor Route.
Note: This video is a bit longer than my usual, in an attempt to show as much of the route and the views as possible. It is a stunning route!
The route starts from Seathwaite in the Borrowdale Valley in the Lake District and heads up the valley to Stockley Bridge.
From Stockley Bridge I take the Path up to Styhead Tarn where I turn left at the Stretcher Box,
I then head right on to the Corridor Route.
The Corridor Route is a fabulous route up to Scafell Pike with dramatic scenery and stunning views.
The Corridor Route reaches Lingmell Col, where I turn left for the final climb up to Scafell Pike.
From Scafell Pike summit I follow the route down and over Broad Crag where I the visit ILL Crag. At 935m high ILL Crag is recognised as the fourth highest peak in England and has stunning views.
From ILL Crag I follow the path to Esk Hause and then cross Ruddy Gill and follow the path down the valley back to Seathwaite.
    Distance is around 9.5 miles.

Brilliant video Eddie . That was my 214 walk with Great End .. Ill Crag has superb views well worth the 5 min walk from the main path most people just walk right by it as its not a Wainwright.

Hey mannn, I did that route up to stockley bridge before turning right onto Seathwaite fell, then coming down to sty head tarn, across the start of the corridor and up to Great Gable... just four days before you did this walk! We parked in the same spot, under the trees just before the farm as well....
Talk about paths crossing! Ha ha.
Never seen arrows on the rocks before mannn...was great to see you in I'll crag, got to be my favourite non Wainwright. That view of the esk valley and great Moss, simply breath taking, not to mention the view of the Scafell's from there is superb.

Great video Eddie. Some super captures including the selfie photos. Pity you didn't get the views from the top of Scafell Pike but you've already done it with views so I guess not so bad. That rock with the arrows on they call it the "bad step". It's not so bad unless you trip and do a nose dive into the valley. Awesome views off Ill Crag and it's a summit I unfortunately missed out when I did this route a couple of years ago. It just means I shall have to do it again some time soon. Enjoyed watching 👍 Paul

I was a bit disappointed with the cloud cover on Scafell Pike, but it did clear a bit to give me some atmospheric views through the clouds. A bit of care was needed on the section with the "bad step" but as you say, not too bad. ILL Crag was worth the small detour for the views from there. All in all, a great day! That was fantastic Eddie, brilliant hike and video, and as ever you made it look easy. This is what happens when you are on your own, you go hiking crazy! I didn't mind one bit the length, the more the better, I was even following the route on my OS App! As ever you got great weather though some clouds did appear on Scafell Pike. All the views and photos were fabulous. When you got to Esk Hause I realised Andrea and I had been there last year and I wondered why we never thought to go to Scafell. Loved all the walking bits for the camera - that would have slowed you down a bit - the corridor route looks like one we should definitely do, tricky but definitely within our scope I thought. Not many at the top but then you probably started really early. I'd say Eddie that this is probably your best video ever, and that's saying something. Regards, Ashley

Hi Ashley, thank you for such positive feedback on the video. I started the editing process with 2 hours worth of footage and nearly 200 photos! The scenery and route was that good I could have filmed a lot more. It is a great route up to Scafell Pike and definitely one you could do. I started the walk at 5.30am, but as you have mentioned, the filming etc slowed me down and it took me longer than normal to do the route. A 10 or 15 minute video could not have done this route justice, I spent a week and a half editing to get it to 27 mins! The clouds on Scafell Pike gave me some atmospheric views and ILL Crag was really good. Thank you again for watching & for the comments, it is appreciated. Take Care, Cheers. Eddie.
