They often jack up rates because the insurance company will try to haggle and be all like "look we're paying for alllll these patients bills plus they came to your medical practice because we made them per our contract...so we're only going to pay 20% of the total." So then the medical people will be all like, "watch how sneaky we are...we'll just jack up rates like 2000% and that'll show 'em."

Buddy went through school to be a doctor, its one of the mandatory course credits so he had something like 6months as a gyno and swore he'd never do the job again.
