i feel like they would've died, old COD actually had the balls to kill people off, but if it was modern day COD sabre and faucon would probably show up on the final mission and say "we weren't actually in France"
Lmao😂
😂😂😂
"welp, it wasn't us who covered you."
I mean graves was far too cool to kill.
Idk anyone who actually would have wanted him to die. Because if he dies shadow company would have gotten tossed to the trash bin
Anyone else is fine
They shouldn't have made him a villain you try to kill for 30% of the game then@@fuoco1365
I remember that they were only ever playable in one map in multiplayer, and never used more than that
they were used in the survival mode tho

Not much of them left for other maps 😢
What I loved about the original mw series, is that it made u feel the dread that Makarov creates. Walking through Paris with dead civilians spread around the map, imagine the psychological torment of them seeing everyone dying around them and unable to do anything about it. For me as a New Yorker felt total dread fighting through nyc, seeing flooded tunnels with dead civilians everywhere. Idk what it is about the new mw games but there’s no sense of danger. Like u know the characters, u kinda know who dies that it’s not as impactful.
The issue with the new continuity is that there isn't any invasion or global conflict. We don't see American cities under siege, wartorn middle eastern towns, shanty towns in Africa. We only really follow TF141 and as result, can't see through the eyes of an common soldier like Jackson from COD4 or Ramirez in MW2
@reaperblaster8291 YES! I think the missions where I was playing the Rangers, and Delta squad were my favorite missions. Not as much the TF141 (even tho they were really great too)
God as simple call of duty is, no other mission in any other game has felt as patriotic when fighting in Washington DC, being one of the many soldiers defending the capital
nowadays everyone is a superhero
Rangers had the best missions in MW2
Dude, I thought I was the only one. When MW3 opened up in New York, I was also pissed. It felt like Makarov made it personal just by attacking my streets. Seeing New York torn apart really showed just how much of a danger he was and why he needed to be stopped.
Meanwhile new MW just TELLS US he's dangerous without showing us well... anything really. Maybe small time attacks but nothing that was this bad. OG Makarov was the mastermind behind attacks that brought the West to its knees and even thought it smart to go after his own country's leadership when it looked like they wanted to end the war peacefully. He was ruthless, cunning and blood thirsty. New Makarov has NONE of that.
It's sad how the GIGN lost so much and were cut down practically to a man. I'm certain most players don't remember them, but many still do. We fought with them right to the end, and they fought beside us just as hard. They gave their lives so we could complete the mission and capture Volk, so they should be remembered for their bravery, fearlessness in the face of insurmountable odds, and for their heroic sacrifice. Sabre, Faucon, and everyone in the GIGN, they were all heroes, and should be remembered as such.

Fun fact, the GIGN, have likely rescued more hostages than any other western SOF unit, including CAG and the SAS. This is due to their heavy involvement in hostage crisis domestically and abroad, particularly in the former colonies of France.
S'engager pour la vie!!!
That is due to that being their jobs as police. They're not really special forces military. In a country that gets a lot of jihadist Muslims. You would think so
And they hold a record of "no one of us died during combat"
@@therandomlaniusedward2140 Some of them did,at least two. Most of them died during training...
CAG is a military only unit unlike the GIGN. Capturing a single person in France isn’t the same as taking down saddam
They’re badass, and I first heard about them because of this game.
I always tried to keep at least one non essential NPC alive in the campaigns
I keep them all alive I'm the goat of saving pvt gign commander

As a french , Walking and fighting through this Mission , Was Personnal to me.
This is why it's my favorite mission. Reasons...
1. That music of shooting in the bookstore(Juggernaut Theme)
2. "Link up complete"
3. AC-130(Warhammer) air support
4. Chasing Volk(love this epic chase)
Iron lady is the one with the AC-130
And sandman beating the crap out of volk was also the best part of this mission as well.
@@zaymac117 "Jackpot"
I loved the weapons you could find in this mission. MK46, MP5 with holo sights, sometimes you could get silenced AK74 or PM90, L86 in vehicle you use to chase Volk. One of most exciting missions in whole game.

@@robertpastabox575there’s more to it than that. Since the golden days of 2011 game design has become a lot more corporatized. Investors and shareholders that are completely out of touch with gaming are calling more of the shots. Games have ceased to be games, they have become nothing more than digital businesses. Investors and publishers saw the success of games like Fortnight and force their own games to adopt a similar model because they think it makes the most money. They no longer innovate or take risks, this is why cod campaigns today feel like cliche summer action movies you’ve seen that are bland and a dime a dozen. This amount of investor control in gaming has spread like a cancer in the AAA world because they just can’t resist how profitable AAA games are… the result is what you now see with how bad AAA games are these days. If you want to experience something interesting or different, you’re more likely to find it with an indie game.
Well, I can excuse the multiplayer having like, thematic destruction since it's not canon, but man, the campaigns are underwhelming. The last good one was MWII so far, MWIII fucked it

COD isn't realistic, it never was. BO2 had fucking weed skins. WAW had Axis and Allied using whatever guns you gave them. CoD4 had *golden guns*. BO1 and WAW had Zombies and even anachronistic tech in the campaign and BO1 had non-existent guns (at the time) in both campaign in multiplayer. And MW2 had PROFESSIONAL OPERATORS DUAL-WIELDING M1887s AND RACKING IT AS IF THEY WERE SCHWARZENEGGER.

I wouldn't necessarily take CoD Wiki as gospel but we do indeed have decent enough reason to believe they could have fallen back, back the way you already came.
I mean theoretically there's a building where they came out from, Sabre could've escaped there. But that's just a theory
@@andraspendragon601 yeah, he could've, to secure the other guys in there if they had some
My head cannon is that if you make it to the Van quickly enough before they get onto the street, they'll cover you till you're out of sight and then they retreat back the way they came and re-linked up with their squad towards the start of the level. Or they re-linked with other French forces in the area. But only if you move quickly to where they're still near the building.
I like to think they survived and escaped once Metal Team entered the police van.
According to wiki,sabre survives
I think they have a decent of chance of surviving after Delta Force leaves. They can attempt to go back through the sewers.

When I was a kid, the only GIGN image I could recognize was from Counter-Strike 1.6. The blue uniform, the shield helmet and that's it. I played this game when I was very young and was so excited to see GIGN in another game. Therefore, I was also hoping that I'd get to see the other special forces too. Sadly, I didn't understand English nor MW story back then, and a decade later from made me learned that EU forces in the game were almost wiped out.

Here's a sad fact: just like the real world, they don't get remembered at all, and if this war get in COD MW universe history books, they'll get forgeted or just mentioned in the numbers of deaths, no one will know what they did, no one will know the sacrifices, no one gives a damn, the only one who will remember this will be Frost (after all, he's the only alive from this team, Sandman and the others die, Frost is the only one who don't get a death so...yeah, of course Sandman and the others *will* get remembered, they sacrifice themselfs on the Russian President eyes), now, we only know about these sacrifices because we're playing, but what if we don't play with Frost and this still happen? You get my point? We won't even know about them, their story, their names, and that's also the world we live as well, how much people sacrifice themself in a war to save others, but in the end no one give them a spot in lights about their bravery? In the end, they only will be another number of deaths without memory or anything.

Ironic because most of the MW2 is forgetten. Imagine the Favela chase. Nobody from there made it out alive in the story. Nobody will ever know what Soap and Roach went through in Cliffhanger. CoD4 is mostly forgetten considering Price possibly died. Like, nobody made it out alive from that god-damn bridge. Not Griggs, Gaz, Soap, Kamarov or even Price. Everybody forgot them. They are lost in the history of war. But everybody will remember Shepherd's _"heroism."_ Because history is filled with liars.
They'll be remembered by the French, though

Remember, GIGN are French Swat. They handle terrorist cells and hostage situations. They are not trained for warfare, making their last stand even more impressive.
Well GIGN are still part of the Gendarmerie Nationale (French paramilitary police which are part of the French military, even though they are under command of the ministry of the Interior), so they have military training, plus not only do they have the status of security forces tactical unit, they are also considered one of France’s Special Force units from what I know and have already been deployed during abroad operations (Somalia, Afghanistan…) or OPEX (opérations extérieures) as we say in France.
France doesn’t really have a SWAT equivalent otherwise. There are tactical units of CRS (armored police), but the thing that would be the closest to SWAT or HRT would probably be the RAID (Recherche Assistance Intervention Dissuasion), which is the elite tactical unit of the Police Nationale, and the BRI (Brigade de Recherche et d’Intervention), who are the Police Nationale’s tactical first responders.
Thing is, GIGN generally operates in rural areas due to them being Gendarmerie, whereas the RAID and BRI will more often operate in urban settings.
As I heard from somewhere else, the GIGN aren't SWAT, they are the team SWAT teams call when the situation is too intense for them
GIGN are SOF, they are all airborne qualified, they also qualify on many weapon platforms including anti tank rocket launchers, I don't think there is many SWAT team that are lol
They do a lot of anti terrorist and hostage rescue missions, but comparing them to a SWAT team is like comparing a Marine fire team to a group of Boy Scouts because they both so camping in the forest quite often.
@@TjugoTusenthat's more like it lol
But they actually are a SOF unit anyway.
So they definitely know combat.
GIGN is much more closer to Russian SOBR

Loved the GIGN in this game, this was my first cod and I loved all the different factions, their equipment, guns, insignias etc.
I was actually hurt to hear Sandman had a friend a Satory and the GIGN was hit at their barracks at night with a chemical attack. Here's the GIGN who've died from this war.
Sabre survived as he drives a jeep in one of the side ops where you have to download data from the catacomb about the chemical strike
so cool that you cover these factions and characters. i honestly missed most of the stuff you cover because there's always so much action and gunfights in cod that i miss the story and details. like yesterday i had to look up shepherd because i didnt understand why he betrayed ghost and roach. i didnt agree with his logic.
1:50 bro was simply build different. he had to be killed off otherwise he would have been the protagonist of MW4
Heard he was tanking the nuke in cod 4 and walked it off like nothing happened.
There are alot of points in MW2 and 3 where the soldiers that are with you could've easily gotten into a transport with you and left but stay behind to die for no reason lol
Dude i just subscribed to your channel.. i'm impressed with how detailed you are in noticing all those little tiny details
Thank you for your kind words, I hope you enjoy watching the next videos.
What I loved about the og mw games is besides the blockbuster action set pieces, the chatter between soldiers and main characters felt real and dire. One mission that comes to mind is "loose ends" from the very beginning the mission conveys the feeling of somethings off.
Great video ! Sabre and Faucon, true heroes !
Glad you enjoyed it!
A few thing to adress here.
1° GIGN isn't a special force.
This is becoming tiresome to repeat, but it's necessary to precise, because MW3 pretty much engraved in the spirit of way too many people that the GIGN was somehow the French equivalent of SAS and Delta. They are not. French special forces are a very specific set of unit placed under special operation command. GIGN isn't one of them.
You actually have a lot of COS unit stationned outside of Paris. You can be pretty sure 1st RPIMa (SAS) or the Commando Marines would be there to link up with whatever is left of GIGN way before Delta can board their chopper.
2° rank inaccuracies.
I see "GIGN CMDR", "CPL" and "SGT". Thoses ranks are rather inaccurate. The commander of the GIGN isn't a "commander" (and that rank doesn't really exist, since there are "chef d'escadron", which are addressed as "commandant" and is officially translated "major"). It's a general. There are also no corporal or sergeant in the gendarmerie, even less in the GIGN. Corporal are rank and file in the French army, the Gendarmerie is a branch pretty much fully crewed by NCO. The gendarmerie has brigadier, which are corporal equivalent, but thoses do not work in the GIGN. The rank of sergeant is actually called and translated as "gendarme". Only the rank of staff sergeant exist, which is a translation of "maréchal des logis chef".
3° GIGN is actually way bigger than that.
GIGN also doesn't spend all their time waiting in Satory. There is also more than one team and they actually rotate. It's highly possible there are some team training or working somewhere else in France and that they woud be called back to help.
4° Satory being attacked is a bigger deal than you think.
Satory is pretty much a city sized military base. You have a lot of unit stationned there. You have the amored squadrons of the mobile gendarmerie and a lot of various ground army technical services that generally work closely with the DGA. In case of an attack, way more than the GIGN compound was impacted by this.
Surprisingly the French Army was absent here
@@Gillan1220 Yup. There are a lot of military asset around and near Paris. You can be sure the place would crawling with soldier coming from everywhere. The COS would have been on the forefront.
gign is a special force
just no military special force but a police special force
still special forces regardless
@@tavish4699 GIGN is an intervention unit. In France, special forces are the unit listed under the Special Operation Command. GIGN isn't one of them.
Even in a more broader sense, GIGN does not enter in the definition of special force. If it's part of the military, it does not perform special operation in a military or warfare context. That kind of stuff is the job of the COS, not GIGN.
@@johnwotek3816They're highly trained but they're not special forces. More or less, they are used mainly for protection of officials and counter terrorism.
Rest in peace GIGN Forces, know that I cherished every moment with yall 🫡

This is the best game ever made.
i played it 5 times, and ready to do it again after some time.
Genuinely was my favorite multiplayer faction to play as. Their gear just looked so cool especially the masked up ones
Man I love your videos ❤
I think one of the biggest let downs in this game was how little we got to see/interact with local military units across europe (france and germany especially).
it actually makes sense that a police force gets obliterated during a full scale war
whilst they are for sure a very good counter terrorism uniit combat is something very different
I remember playing this mission as a kid loved it
their resources were spread thin they didn’t have enough gas masks for everyone yet men still went in regardless of the risk of chemical attack they probably didn’t have alot of weapons or ammo either and were using whatever they have left in the fight some probably even taking weapons from dead enemies to keep fighting and i think the reason why you can’t keep any of them alive regardless of how hard you try is because they were all meant to die in the end with maybe only a few survivors in total
I swear every old cod mission deserves a medal of honor
You know, I never really looked at the GIGN in this mission as much, with all the moving parts the mission had but God...DAMN 🫡🫡🫡🫡
Remember when cod actually took itself seriously and wasn't just a $70 cash grab? I remember

As a french i was so happy to fight with GIGN in mw3
GIGN were the biggest vibe in MW3... I adored playing as them with my trusty G36c in multiplayer ...
This mission always stood out to me because in video games, we don't get a lot of coverage of special forces other than American or British organizations. Which makes sense, since the US by far has the largest worldwide reach and Britain is the United States' principal ally on the world stage. But it is nice to see others get screen time.
Off topic music in this game was insanely good
This cod is the second one I played the first was ghost you just remined my how sad it is
Original Modern warfare are great, you can feel the horror of warfare no cutscenes just straight out face slap into your POV.
Last time I remembered, Overlord sent QRF to link up with them from behind and ask them to leave marks. So GIGN lives were depending on how quick the QRF backups have arrived (and where did the GIGN retreat to). Therefore, we can't conclude if they were killed or not.
I noticed them running to their deaths, never took much notice but I was like “what are you doing!?”
Walking through the catacombs of paris gave me chills when i was a child playing cod2mw
Man i remember 10 year old me replaying the game for like the 50th time and trying to save npcs, specifically in this mission i remember the most
Yuri Lowenthal Voicing the GIGN Commander is ironic considering he voiced Pip Bernadotte from the Hellsing OVA's
When the old cod paints how brutal and serious Russian was
To me, it's just a usual depiction of NATO vs Russia by westerners. Russians being brutal and gaining territories at the start of the war, and end up losing to the more advanced NATO.
Ofc the WW2 CoDs show how brutal the Soviet Red Army were in repelling the Nazis, but that's because they were part of the Allies at that time.
Modern CoD also show Kroni soldiers being advanced and terrifying, in contrast to the real life Russian PMC Wagner Group which is now non-existent in Ukraine.

One of my Favorite missions in mw3
GIGN are the French equivalent to FBI HRT. Both are top SWAT teams and have special operations capabilities. GIGN is a Law Enforcement Unit just Like HRT. See a lot of comments saying asking how a unit like this would take so many casualties. Their bread and butter is CQB and hostage rescue. In reality in open combat they would be out of their element.
2 guys against a hundred ? Sounds like Bir Hakeim all over again. Piece of cake.
It’s crazy how a decade ago we used to think that Russia invading both the USA and Western Europe at the same time was something possible. The recent war in Ukraine showed that an invasion like that would be completely impossible.
I remember reading a story of some kind when a mass russian invasion was stopped at prague and i was like ok I can kind of see that now I'm like could they even take warsaw?
I have to play this game again
I hope Activision do a remake of MW3 like they did for 1&2, I'm fond of MW3

Alpha, you should try do a next video: Where did Makarov, Volk, and Fregata Industries get those chemical weapons from? Do you think they could be coming from Nova-6?

4:12 mannn who knows sandman probably sent frost BACK up to close the manhole because sandman forgot to. lol
I mean they could've survived but it's going to take a miracle. GIGN guys are nuts but they're still human.
Fye
I was also gonna say what happens to Frost, as we know he was alive at the end of Scorched Earth where he had no injuries and missed the presidents daughter by a couple seconds, then the next mission into the Rabbit hole, you play as Yuri with Price and Delta Force at your side, but Frost isn’t there, it’s the whole team and a solider named McCoy who dies before you get off the intro elevator, well Frost was initially gonna be in McCoy’a spot with a couple voice lines but was was cut out instead, so in the mission he was actually the one who planted the charges to blow up the mine as that was his task, he survived and was extracted by chopper unfortunately his team didn’t suffer that same fate.
We only got to see them 1 time
I wish new cod done the big war missions again with the stealth. The new ones seem to stealth focused.
ODA 595 is an ODA which deployed in the early 2000's if you have ever watched the movie 12 strong ODA 595 is the real unit that that movie is based upon. In Afghanastan they essentially rode horses with the Northern Alliance in Afghanastan and trained them.
And also you can save the 2 agents in the final battle in the mission name turbulence I thought if you manage to keep them alive they would shoot at Makarov
It says in the cod wiki they survive the operation
This mission in MW3 was weird, one of the GIGN had my last name
Gign Forces, is awsome in call of duty
We need a mw3 remaster to complete the story
Man Where's Montagne when we need him.
4:00 Maybe you came back up and they went down first when the screen blacked
I just think its crazy that GIGN even lasted as long as they did considering they're pretty much just the French version of the US SWAT. I do understand that they just did what they had to as realistically in the event of an invasion the police force are expected to continue to uphold law and order and to also oppose the invading force as much as possible.
In last seen for escape you have run over two heavyweight infantry fighting vehicles by light weight van that's impossible.
The time when cod still have a life
Secondary/minor characters >>> Main characters
What people seem to not know about the GIGN is they're not exactly special forces or even army - They're Law Enforcement. They're essentially French SWAT.
Nah they are part of the army and is considered a tactical intervention group, they got deployed in Afghanistan, mali or any places where they're needed, but they're not special forces tho, they dont do missions that no one is supposed to hear about, they're used for hostage situations or bringing a vip from point A to B, often called when they're the only ones who Can Do the job on heated places tho, but the actual equivalent of SWAT would be the RAID
We need the GIGN return in mw3 seasons later 🥲🥲 maybe season 5 where makarov plans a attack on Paris
